A Fast Multi-reference Frame Selection Algorithm for Multiview Video Coding

Abstract: Multiview video coding (MVC) plays an important role in three-dimensional video applications. Joint Video Team developed a joint multiview video model (JMVM) with multi-reference frame technology. Motion and disparity estimation are employed in multi-reference frame technology to provide better rate distortion performance. However, the process of searching blocks with variable sizes for motion and disparity estimation in multi-reference frames significantly increases the computational complexity. After analyzing the statistical features of multi-reference frames in MVC, this paper proposes a fast multi-reference frame selection algorithm based on a dynamic threshold technology correlated with the types of frames. All views of prediction structure in JMVM are categorized into three types, that is, the basic view without inter-view reference relation, the first layer views that only refer anchor frame from upper view, the second layer views that need to refer the basic view and the first layer views. Furthermore, all frames in MVC prediction structure are divided into three categories, the anchor frame without any reference, non-anchor frame in the base view and the first layer view, and the non-anchor frame in other views. Dynamic threshold technique is given to terminate the process of searching multi-reference frames early. The proposed algorithm also reduces the useless candidate reference frames by filtering out those reference frames that are less likely to contain the best matched results and achieves significant speed-up. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve 50.13% ~ 72.19% reduction of encoding time in comparison with JMVM7.0, while the proposed algorithm hardly influences the rate distortion performance of MVC.

Abstract:
This paper systematically analyzes the models and processes related to wordof- mouth spreading in social networks. This paper simulates the characteristics and rules of word-of-mouth spreading on social network platforms, adopts network evolution models as well as virus spreading models which can precisely reflect the process of word-of-mouth spreading. By computer simulation, the effect of several kinds of parameters in networks and in wordof- mouth spreading model is analyzed. What has been proved, through parameter analysis, is that the secondary “push” of the key node (opinion leader) in social networks has played a significant role in promoting word-of-mouth spreading. In practical applications, shopkeepers can act appropriately to the situation, which means they put in a second period of advertise appropriately after placing one advertisement at random in order to save costs and increase efficiency.

Abstract: With the advent of the era of knowledge economy, intellectual capital has become one of the important factors to improve the competitiveness and value of enterprises. In recent years, the research on intellectual capital and enterprise performance has become a new hotspot in the field of management accounting. However, because the theoretical basis of intellectual capital is not mature enough, scholars argue about it, and it is difficult to reach a consistent conclusion. On the basis of a brief review of the basic theories of the concept, elements and measurement of intellectual capital, this paper focuses on reviewing the relevant literature on the relationship between intellectual capital and enterprise performance, aiming at pointing out the existing achievements and the remaining shortcomings, and pointing out the direction for further research.
Effect of Ribose on Mature/Immature Raw Peanut Proteins and Their Allergenic Properties  [PDF]

Abstract: Mature and immature roasted peanuts are reportedly different in the level of Maillard reaction adducts (MRA) and IgE binding (i.e., allergenic capacity). Heating and sugar-protein interaction are the cause for the difference. The objective of this study was to determine if mature and immature raw peanuts (not roasted) are also different through treatment with a reducing sugar such as ribose, glucose or fructose at a mild temperature. Extracts from mature and immature raw peanuts were treated with individual sugars at 37?C and 50?C, respectively, for 0 - 10 days, and then assayed for MRA with nitroblue tetrazolium (NBT) in a time-course manner for 60 min. IgE binding was determined in an enzyme- linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), using a pooled plasma from peanut-allergic individuals. Of the sugars tested, only ribose produced a big difference or a unique curve pattern in MRA between treated mature and immature peanuts. The unique curve pattern was more pronounced at 50?C (day 5 - 10) than at 37?C. IgE binding under this condition increased, but only with the ribose-treated mature raw peanut. It was concluded that mature and immature raw peanuts were different in MRA and IgE binding when treated with ribose only, and that under such a condition, mature and immature raw peanuts could be identified.

Abstract:

The present review analyzes experimental research on implicit learning using linguistic stimuli, and proposes five key procedures of a framework for empirical studies of implicit learning. Our review begins with a brief overview of the current state of research on implicit learning, and then presents the procedures in detail: 1) choosing theoretical assumptions from psychology; 2) designing stimuli; 3) exposing subjects to information; 4) testing implicit learning; and 5) measuring subjects’ state of awareness. This framework is intended to assist researchers in designing experiments on implicit learning both more comprehensively and with fewer flaws.

Abstract: The ground-state energy and its derivate of the acoustic polaron in free-standing slab are calculated by using the Huybrechts-like variational approach. The criteria for presence of the selftrapping transition of the acoustic polaron in free-standing slabs are determined qualitatively. The critical coupling constant for the discontinuous transition from a quasi-free state to a trapped state of the acoustic polaron in free-standing slabs tends to shift toward the weaker electronphonon coupling with the increasing cutoff wave-vector. Detailed numerical results confirm that the self-trapping transition of holes is expected to occur in the free-standing slabs of wide-bandgap semi-conductors.
Spatiotemporal Distribution of Precipitation Recycling across the Arid Regions of Asia and Africa  [PDF]

Abstract: The degree of water vapour recycling in terrestrial precipitation is still a debatable topic, particularly in arid regions. Here, the spatiotemporal evolution of evaporation, calculated via the water balance method [1], and the precipitation recycling ratio, calculated using a water recycling model [2], are investigated across Asia and Africa for the 1984-2013 time period. The results show that the precipitation recycling ratio in North Africa and China-Mongolia is stronger in summer but weaker in winter. However, it is stronger in winter and spring in West Asia but weaker in summer. Evaporation accounts for a small proportion of the precipitation uptake in arid regions, with external water vapour transportation exerting the primary influence on precipitation recycling. Increasing global temperatures and evaporation potentials over the past 30 years have driven the actual evaporation and precipitation recycling ratio increases in North Africa and West Asia and corresponding decreases in China-Mongolia.
UPLC/Q-TOF-MS-based chemical profiling approach to evaluate the chemical constitution of Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata in the process of decoction

Abstract: OBJECTIVE: An ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC/Q-TOF-MS)-based chemical analytic technology was used to evaluate the chemical constitution of Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata in the process of decocting, so as to provide a scientific basis for processing Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata.METHODS: Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata samples with different decocting time were detected using UPLC/Q-TOF-MS to create a fingerprint spectrum. The data of tR-m/z pairs, ion intensities and sample codes were processed by partial least squared-discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) to holistically compare the difference among these samples. RESULTS: The contents of diester-diterpenoid alkaloid such as aconitine, mesaconitine and hypaconitine were higher between 2 to 10 min, while the contents of the lower toxic monoester-diterpenoid alkaloids such as benzoylaconine, benzoylmesaconine and benzoylhypaconine increased during the first 60 min, then their contents stabilized.CONCLUSION: Selecting the correct processing time for Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata according to clinical indications is essential for attenuating toxicity and increasing efficiency. Within 30 min is the best time for diester-diterpenoid alkaloids as the main pharmacodynamic material, and within 60 min is the best time for monoester-diterpenoid alkaloids as the pharmacodynamic material of Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata.
Federal government financing of grassroots decay in Nigeria: the case of Edo state

Abstract: In this research article, an attempt is made to locate the failure of local government councils to construct rural development poles in the context of patrimonial redistributive politics that greeted the emergence of the Nigerian petrostate. The failure of the third tier to transit into a local pole of development, controverts the assumed linkage between grassroots development and creation of more local government councils. Empirical evidence from Edo state has demonstrated ‘reverse resource flow’ in favour of urban and semi-urban locales. In this process, enhanced revenue flow through federal statutory allocation is ‘reverse transfer’ to the centres through the mechanisms of urban extractive ratio. The de-poling so engendered creates more decay than existed pre-fragmentation. By the character logic and organization of these new local governments (political post); they mediate the crisis of rural-urban exploitation and rural-locale depoling, in a self-reproduction project typical of patron-client politics. In this context, it is assumed that phenomenal growth in statutory and allied revenues accruing to rural locales has not produced the desired development, but undesired decay.
