Government Subsidy and Crash Risk  [PDF]

Abstract:
Using the sample of companies listed on Chinese GEM between 2009 and 2015, we examines the impact of government subsidy on companies’ future stock price crash risk and explores how the earning information opacity moderates the relation between government subsidy and crash risk. We find that: 1) the government subsidies for the listed companies increase their crash risk; 2) the firms with higher information opacity are exposed to higher stock price crash risk; 3) considering the cross effect of opacity and government subsidy, the positive correlation between government subsidy and crash risk is weakened under the high information opacity environment. With further analysis, we find that that government subsidy dominates the earning management level of Jones model while measuring firm’s information opacity. This paper not only enriches the study of external influencing factors of crash risk, but also broadens the study of government subsidy efficiency and provides a new decision basis for the investors to recognize the firms’ earning information quality.
Research on Relationship between “Direct Investment + Sponsor” Mode and IPO Pricing Efficiency  [PDF]

Abstract: The paper takes 996 IPO companies in China from 2012 to 2016 as samples and investigates the effect on IPO pricing efficiency under the Direct Investment + Sponsor Mode. The research shows that there is no significant difference between companies that intend to IPO under the Direct Investment + Sponsor mode and companies that intend to IPO under the non-Direct Investment + Sponsor mode in the discount of new stocks and one-year returns. The result shows that the firewall mechanism between the direct investment department and the investment banking department of Chinese securities traders is in good condition, verifies the rationality of not abolishing Direct Investment + Sponsor mode in Guidelines for Direct Investment Business of Securities Companies introduced by China Securities Regulatory Commission in July 2011 and powerfully refutes the markets long-lasting query that China Securities Regulatory Commission retains Direct Investment + Sponsor
Study for solving the path on the three-dimensional surface based on Cellular Automata method

Abstract: For the path optimization problem on the irregular surface of three-dimension, three-dimensional surface is discretized with grid. Based on the parallel character of cellular automata in the cellular space, with the dynamic cellular neighbors , the time evolution interval is defined as the minimum remaining weight. The new shortest path algorithm is structured, based on cellular automaton model. That is to say, through the simple rules of evolution of cellular state, the shortest path is got. The method can achieve the efficiency of ant colony algorithm, and a new way of application of the Cellular Automata model is provided.

A Typical Agricultural Areas of China -Dezhou City’s Land use Structure Changes Based on Past Decade Data

Abstract: Based on the statistical data of land-using in Dezhou City from 1996 to 2006, the changes of Dezhou City’s land-using structures is described. Through the use of land-use change intensity index, land-use type of dynamic index, the contribution rate of changes, Land-use integrated index, the changes of Dezhou City’s land-using structures is described is studied. The study is on quantity changes, velocity changes, as well as degree changes. Results showed that the change of cultivated land was not significant ; scales of urban construction land , traffic land , and forest land were further increased ; scale of unused land was reduced fast ; and the difference of land use structure in each county of Dezhou City was evident . Land use changes in Dezhou city were driven by natural , economic and social factors. Finally, the causes of land use structure changes were analyzed and some suggestions were put forward.
Urban Heat Island Analysis Using the Landsat TM Data and ASTER Data: A Case Study in Hong Kong

Abstract: In this paper, the effect of urban heat island is analyzed using the Landsat TM data and ASTER data in 2005 as a case study in Hong Kong. Two algorithms were applied to retrieve the land surface temperature (LST) distribution from the Landsat TM and ASTER data. The spatial pattern of LST in the study area is retrieved to characterize their local effects on urban heat island. In addition, the correlation between LST and the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), the normalized difference build-up index (NDBI) is analyzed to explore the impacts of the green land and the build-up land on the urban heat island by calculating the ecological evaluation index of sub-urban areas. The results indicate that the effect of urban heat island in Hong Kong is mainly located in three sub-urban areas, namely, Kowloon Island, the northern Hong Kong Island and Hong Kong International Airport. The correlation between LST and NDVI, NDBI also indicates that the negative correlation of LST and NDVI suggests that the green land can weaken the effect on urban heat island, while the positive correlation between LST and NDBI means that the built-up land can strengthen the effect of urban heat island in our case study. Although satellite data (e.g., Landsat TM and ASTER thermal bands data) can be applied to examine the distribution of urban heat islands in places such as Hong Kong, the method still needs to be refined with in situ measurements of LST in future studies.
The Research on Intrusion Feature Selection Algorithm Based on Particle Swarm Optimization

Abstract: High-dimensional intrusion detection data concentration information redundancy results in low processing velocity of intrusion detection algorithm. Accordingly, the current study proposes an intrusion feature selection algorithm based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). Analyzing the features of the relevance between network intrusion data allows the PSO algorithm to optimally search in a featured space and autonomously select effective feature subset to reduce data dimensionality. Experimental results reveal that algorithm can effectively eliminate redundancy and reduce intrusion feature selection time to effectively increase the detection velocity of the system while ensuring detection accuracy rate.

Abstract: In a word, this paper introduces the Semantic Web research background and current research condition. We make a research in the realm of ontology representation and the Semantic Web model. This paper puts forward a method to represent ontology in XML. This method has a good result and a general purpose. Based on this method, we realize the ontology layer in the Semantic Web model. We design and realize the Semantic Web model system based on the ontology. We use the ontology as the semantic information layer in the Semantic web. Thus we can share the semantic information to improve the automation and intelligence of information service. A further purpose of the work is to add more support of reasoning functions and research the control mechanism of the ontology in Internet.
Snow Cover Monitoring Using MODIS Data in Liaoning Province, Northeastern China

Abstract: This paper presents the results of snow cover monitoring studies in Liaoning Province, northeastern China, using MODIS data. Snow cover plays an important role in both the regional water balance and soil moisture properties during the early spring in northeastern China. In addition, heavy snowfalls commonly trigger hazards such as flooding, caused by rapid snow melt, or crop failure, resulting from fluctuations in soil temperature associated with changes in the snow cover. The latter is a function of both regional, or global, climatic changes, as well as fluctuations in the albedo resulting from variations in the Snow Covered Area (SCA). These impacts are crucial to human activities, especially to those living in middle-latitude areas such as Liaoning Province. Thus, SCA monitoring is currently an important tool in studies of global climate change, particularly because satellite remote sensing data provide timely and efficient snow cover information for large areas. In this study, MODIS L1B data, MODIS Daily Snow Products (MOD10A1) and MODIS 8-day Snow Products (MOD10A2) were used to monitor the SCA of Liaoning Province over the winter months of November–April, 2006–2008. The effects of cloud masking and forest masking on the snow monitoring results were also assessed. The results show that the SCA percentage derived from MODIS L1B data is relatively consistent, but slightly higher than that obtained from MODIS Snow Products. In situ data from 25 snow stations were used to assess the accuracy of snow cover monitoring from the SCA compared to the results from MODIS Snow Products. The studies found that the SCA results were more reliable than MODIS Snow Products in the study area.
Stochastic resonance in the growth of a tumor induced by correlated noises

Abstract: Multiplicative noise is found to divide the growth law of tumors into two parts in a logistic model, which is driven by additive and multiplicative noises simultaneously. The Fokker-Planck equation was also derived to explain the fact that the influence of the intensity of multiplicative noise on the growth of tumor cells has a stochastic resonance-like characteristic. An appropriate intensity of multiplicative noise is benefit to the growth of the tumor cells. The correlation between two sorts of noises weakens the stochastic resonance-like characteristic. Homologous noises promote the growth of the tumor cells.
