环境工程学报 , 2013,
Abstract: Waste activated sludge is rich in recyclable resource such as organic matters and nutrients. After removing and recycling the ammonia nitrogen and phosphorus, the organic acid solution generated in the process of hydrolysis acidification can serve as the carbon source for wastewater treatment. We investigated the effects of three kinds of pretreatment methods (alkali treatment alone, alkali-acid treatment and acid-alkali treatment) on hydrolysis acidification of the waste activated sludge by changing solution pH. The results showed that after alkali treatment, the SCOD dissolving out was 16% higher than that of the combination of alkali and acid treatment, and SCOD reached 5 406.1 mg/L after 8 d. Applying the acid-alkali treatment (pH 4.0 for 4 d first and then pH 10.0 for 4 d), the yield of acetic acid could reach 74.4 mg COD/g VSS, accounting for 60.5% of the total SCFAs, the yield and content of acetic acid in the SCFAs was higher than that of other treatment methods. Moreover, the dissolution of nitrogen and phosphorus was obvious with the acid-alkali treatment. Besides, the most effective method for sludge reduction was the alkali treatment, the removal rate of VSS was 36.6%.
Optimization of Dynamic Portfolio Insurance Model  [PDF]

Journal of Mathematical Finance (JMF) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/jmf.2012.22019
Abstract: This paper establishes a dynamic portfolio insurance model under the condition of continuous time, based on Meton's optimal investment-consumption model, which combined the method of replicating dynamic synthetic put option using risk-free and risk assets. And it transfers the problem of investor's individual intertemporal dynamic portfolio insurance decision into a problem of static utility maximization under condition of continuous time, and give the optimal capital combination strategies corresponding to the optimal wealth level of the portfolio insurers, and compares the difference of strategies between this model and Merton model. The conclusions show that investors' optimal strategies of portfolio insurance are not dependent on their wealth, but market risk. That is to say, the higher the risk is, the more the demand of portfolio insurance is.
Reduced Partition Function Ratio in the Frequency Complex Plane: A Mathematical Approach  [PDF]

Open Journal of Geology (OJG) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/ojg.2014.412049
Abstract: This paper gives a mathematical approach to calculate the fractionation factor of isotopes in a general cluster (also known as super-molecule), which composes of necessary chemical effect within three bonds outside the interested atom(s). The cluster might have imaginary frequencies after being optimized in quantum softwares. The approach includes the contribution of the difference, which is resulted from the substitution of heavy and light isotopes in the cluster, of vibrations of imaginary frequencies to give precise prediction of isotope fractionation factor. We call the new mathematical approximation “reduced partition function ratio in the frequency complex plane (RPFRC)”. If there is no imaginary frequency for a cluster, RPFRC is simplified to be Urey (1947) or Bigeleisen and Mayer (1947) formula. Final results of this new algorithm are in good agreement with those in earlier studies.
A New Explanation of K. J. Arrow’s Impossibility Theorem: On Conditions of Social Welfare Functions  [PDF]

Open Journal of Political Science (OJPS) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/ojps.2015.51003
Abstract: Social welfare function theory belongs to the cross disciplines of economics, sociology, management science and political science. The social welfare function conditions were first proposed by Kenneth Joseph Arrow, and served as the golden criteria in this field. For a long time, “the expressions of these conditions are not satisfactory”, as Arrow said himself, and he has continued to revise them. The author of this article has attempted to structure a mathematical expression that would meet Arrow’s conditions. We found that the conditions of “unrestricted domain” and “independent alternatives independence” could not always be expressed simultaneously. This led us to conduct further research on the relationships among Arrow’s conditions. We find that there are logical conflicts among some of these conditions, and we discuss these issues in this article.
The Happier One Is, the More Creative One Becomes: An Investigation on Inspirational Positive Emotions from Both Subjective Well-Being and Satisfaction at Work  [PDF]

Psychology (PSYCH) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/psych.2015.63019
Abstract: The main purpose of this research is to show that positive thinking, from subjective well-being and job satisfaction, will greatly enhance inspirational experience. The target participants are 180 designers in Taiwan from two design associations. They are among the top 15 design associations in Google search. According to the findings, both subjective well-being and job satisfaction are highly correlated with creative inspiration. Furthermore, intrinsic satisfaction of a job is highly correlated with inspirational experiences, while having a psychological well-being seems to have a positive correlation with inspiration. The two kinds of correlation mentioned above indicate that creativity and inspiration have a close relationship with our emotional responses, which means that the happier an employee feels, and the better well-being s/he has, the greater is the probability that s/he will generate creative ideas.
Reflections on Local Specialties and Gastronomic Tourism  [PDF]

Chinese Studies (ChnStd) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/chnstd.2015.41003
Abstract: Local food as an essential part of tourist experience has aroused many scholars’ attention, and accumulated a wealth of research results. In 2000, scholars who were inspired by the theme of endless food festivals and other food-related activities, put forward gastronomic tourism. It has now become an important branch of special-interest tourism. From only one of the six elements of tourism attractions to gastronomic tourism, the relationship of local food and tourism has become increasingly close. Giving the scarcity of research on tourist food preferences and motivations of gastronomic tourism, this paper aims to advance the understanding of gastronomic tourism by using indepth interviews. The study explores motivational factors for local food and tourist food preferences when traveling in different regions of China. Its findings indicate that most Chinese tourists treat local food as the extension of the daily dietary experience. Some recommendations are therefore offered in the study with the hope of better meeting the diverse dietary needs of tourists.

Abstract: The influence of metal cations on 13C-18O bonds in carbonates is still under debate. This paper used ab initio method to investigate this kind of influence of Mg2+, Fe2+ and Zn2+ cations on 13C-18O bonds in precipitated aragonite, calcite and dolomite. The polynomials of Δ47 and reduced partition function ratios (RPFRs) for 13/12C,

Abstract: The slope year tslope for the U-Pb dating method is given as \"\", where λ238 and λ235 are the decay constants for 238U and 235U, respectively, and k is the slope of the tangent line at a point on either the Concordia or Discordia line. These two lines are determined by the
Study of Comparative Poetic Thought of Guo Moruo’s Goddess  [PDF]
Yuan Li
Advances in Literary Study (ALS) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/als.2016.41001
Abstract: Guo Moruo’s Goddess has received attention from various sectors and has become one of the hot spots in study of modern Chinese literature since it is published. It exerts far-reaching ideological influence. Tracing to its source, it is not difficult to find the rich implication in Goddess’s creative thought, incorporation of both eastern and western life philosophic thinking and its skillful fusion of them. In the view of eastern and western comparison, Guo Moruo combines Bergson’s life philosophy, Spinoza’s pantheism and Goethe’s “Faust spirit” with China’s traditional life philosophy and forms his own poetic style. Such unique creation had opened new chapter of comparative poetics in China’s poetic circle in the 20th century.
Does the Pecking Order Theory Apply to Chinese Publicly Traded Companies? Evidence from Manufacturing Sector  [PDF]

Modern Economy (ME) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/me.2018.912138

The pecking order theory is one of the most crucial theories in corporate finance field. Empirical test on this theory is very common in western countries while domestic empirical study is still relatively limited in China. The majority of previous studies mainly concentrate in the whole capital market. Over the last decade, manufacturing sector experienced incrementally rapid development in China. The manufacturing sector not only makes critical contributions to China’s economy and society development, but also becomes key force in supporting the world economy. Thus, this article tests pecking order theory on Chinese publicly traded firms in manufacturing sector. Using a panel of 1212 observations during the period between 2013 and 2015, we draw the conclusion that there is no evidence to back up the pecking order theory. Further subsample analysis indicates that pecking order does not apply to Chinese manufacturing listed firms with both high float shares ratio and low float shares ratio.
