Application of Schema Theory in Teaching College English Reading

Abstract: The paper first introduces three models of reading comprehension theory: Bottom-up Model, Top-down Model and Interactive Model, and then discusses in detail the schema theory based on interactive model. Three types of schema theory ——language schema, content schema and form schema are introduced and their different functions in teaching college English reading are discussed with sufficient teaching practice. Key words: reading comprehension; schema theory; reading ability Résumé: Tout d’abord, l'article présente trois premiers modèles de la théorie de compréhension en lecture: modèle bas-haut, modèle haut-bas et modèle interactif, et ensuite il discute en détail la théorie des schémas basée sur le modèle interactif.Trois types de théorie des schémas - schéma de la langue, schéma du contenu et schéma de la forme sont introduites et leurs fonctions différentes dans l'enseignement de la lecture en anglais dans les collèges sont discutées avec une pratique pédagogique suffisante. Innovation Effect on Patent Pool Formation:Empirical Case of Philips’ Patents in Digital Versatile Disc 3C

Abstract: The aim of this paper is to understand the evolution of a patent pool over time, focusing on an individual firm. The legitimacy of patent pools requires a careful balance between innovation incentives, anti-competitive possibilities and consumer surpluses. Thus, it is an empirically important issue whether a patent pool continues to maintain this carefully struck balance even as the mix of its patent assets continues to evolve. The particular focus of this study is to examine the quality and quantity of Phillips’ patent holdings within the DVD 3C patent pool in order to understand the extent of the firm’s innovation within that patent pool over its lifetime, measured by four indicators that previous scholars have linked to the notion of patent quality. The result shows that, while the four indicators of patent quality varied, they together reveal that the breadth of exclusivity expanded significantly during the life of the patent pool, but that this expansion represented little innovative activity. Most of the patents issued post-formation are extensions of patents granted before pool-formation.
Metabolomic Studies Using High Performance Liquid Chromatography and Tandem Mass Spectrometry to Discover Quality Markers for Oriental Beauty (Dongfang Meiren) Tea  [PDF]

In this study, a high-performance liquid chromatograph and an electrospray ionization (ESI) triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (TQ MS) detector were used to scan Oriental Beauty tea of different grades and prices. Principle component analysis (PCA) of the profiling data was performed for pattern recognition, clearly showing that the proposed MS profiling method was able to classify Oriental Beauty tea into different grades. The component mass ions primarily responsible for the separation were selected with high loading strength in the PCA for subsequent identification with tandem mass (MS/MS). Caffeine, citrate and salicylate were verified, whereas certain other compounds remained ambiguous. Regression analysis considering caffeine, citrate and salicylate showed a linear relationship between the prices of the Oriental Beauty tea with an adjusted R2 of 0.84. If all the selected marker ions (in addition to caffeine, citrate and salicylate) could have been identified and incorporated into regression analysis, a stronger relationship could have been confirmed. These results suggest that metabolomics can facilitate the determination of real markers in the quality control of Oriental Beauty tea, and may lead to the further application of metabolomics in other food quality controls.

In vitro anti-angiogenic properties of LGD1069, a selective retinoid X-receptor agonist through down-regulating Runx2 expression on Human endothelial cells

Abstract: Human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) were used for in vitro study. MTT assay and Sulforhodamine B assay were used for cell viability assay; the tube formation assay was used to investigate the effect of LGD1069 on angiogenesis in vitro. In vitro adhesion, migration and invasion of HUVEC cells were analyzed by Matrigel adhesion, migration and invasion assay. Gene expressions were measured by RT-PCR and Western blot analysis.Our data showed here that LGD1069 inhibited the activation of TGF-β/Smad pathway significantly. Furthermore, it was demonstrated that expression of Runx2 was suppressed pronouncedly during incubation with LGD1069. Runx2 is a DNA-binding transcription factor which plays a master role in tumor-induced angiogenesis and cancer cells metastasis by interaction with the TGF-β/Smad pathway of transcriptional modulators.Our results suggested that LGD1069 may impair angiogenic and metastatic potential induced by tumor cells through suppressing expression of Runx2 directly on human endothelial cells, which may point out new pathway through which LGD1069 display anti-angiogenic properties, and provide new molecular evidence to support LGD1069 as a potent anti-metastatic agent in cancer therapy.Carcinomas are the most frequent type of human malignancies, and the vast majority of cancer deaths are caused by the formation of metastases rather than by the primary tumor itself [1]. Investigation of the topological shape of bovine serum albumin in solution by small-angle x-ray scattering at Beijing synchrotron radiation facility

Abstract: This paper reports that at a newly constructed small-angle x-ray scattering station of Beijing Synchrotron Radiation Facility, the topological shape of ligand--free bovine serum albumin in solution has been investigated. An appropriate scattering curve is obtained and the calculated value of the gyration radius is 31.2?±0.25? (1?=0.1nm) which is coincident with other ones' results. It finds that the low-resolution structure models obtained by making use of ab initio reconstruction methods are fitting the crystal structure of human serum albumin very well. All of these results perform the potential of the beamline to apply to structural biology studies. The characteristics, the defects, and the improving measures of the station in future are also discussed.

Abstract: The computer go can simulate human player's go group clustering ability to improve its searching efficiency. This study,taking mathematical morphology as a tool,based on the formalization,adopts constrained dilating opera- tion to undergo preliminary clustering on go groups,and combines with some other heuristic searching methods to com- plete the final clustering on go groups.This paper,by linking with actual combat,also evaluates the algorithm's capa- bility,and at the same time points out its application value.

Abstract: 狗尾草和虫实是科尔沁沙地两种常见一年生草本植物,在沙地恢复过程中起着非常重要的作用。采用固定样方法对自然条件下两种植物种子萌发和幼苗种群动态进行了研究。结果表明,沙地恢复不同阶段虫实和狗尾草萌发数量随季节和样地的变化而变化,种子萌发和幼苗存活显示出强烈的降雨依赖性,并且虫实和狗尾草种子当年可萌发数量都随沙地固定程度增加而逐渐增大。从4月到8月,各月虫实种子萌发比例依次降低,但大多数狗尾草种子在5月到6月才开始萌发。虫实和狗尾草种子呈现出分批萌发的策略。虫实和狗尾草主要分4批出苗,相对虫实而言,狗尾草出苗对降雨的响应存在一定的滞后性,且狗尾草萌发所需的温度较虫实高。虫实和狗尾草的存活曲线均属于C型曲线,是较为典型的r对策者。
Study on reducing olefin of FCC gasoline in the ionic liquid system

Abstract: New bi-liquid phase catalytic systems containing two different types of strong Lewis acidic ionic liquids which do not dissolve in FCC gasoline, were employed to reduce the olefin content in FCC gasoline. It was shown that the olefin content decreases by 14.70% inbmIm]Cl-AlCl_3 ionic liquid system and 13.08% in \Cl-AlCl_3 ionic liquid system, respectively, while the octane number of gasoline does not decrease. The olefin content of FCC gasoline after dealing with the ionic liquids is less than 35%, which has reached the national usage standard for clean FCC gasoline. The mechanism of olefin reducing in FCC gasoline was investigated in detail. It was the alkylation, dimerization and Frediel-Crafts reactions catalysed by the Lewis super strong acidic ionic liquids that caused the olefin reducing in FCC gasoline.
