Descriptions of eleven Opatrini pupae (Coleoptera, Tenebrionidae) from China

Abstract: The pupal stage of eleven Opatrini species occuring in the northern China are described and a key for their identifiaction is provided. The species are Scleropatrum horridum horridum Reitter, Gonocephalum reticulatum Motschulsky, Opatrum (Opatrum) subaratum Faldermann, Eumylada potanini (Reitter), E. punctifera (Reitter), Penthicus (Myladion) alashanicus (Reichardt), P. (Myladion) nojonicus (Kaszab), Myladina unguiculina Reitter, Melanesthes (Opatronesthes) rugipennis Reitter, M. (Melanesthes) maxima maxima Ménétriès and M. (Melanesthes) jintaiensis Ren.

Abstract: Changes of and correlation among root tolerance index (RTI), root Aluminum (Al) content, root/shoot ratio (RSR), root malondialdehyde (MDA) content, and Superoxide dismutase (SOD) and peroxidase (POD) isoforms of maize YQ 7-96 were investigated under Al stress and removal of the stress (RS). Consequently, Al stress led to significant decreases in RTI, RSR, SOD and POD activities, but resulted in significant increase in root MD A and, Al accumulation in the tissues; Root SOD and POD activities did not correlate with Al and MDA contents in roots; The activities of SOD and POD were much lower in roots than in leaves. It can be concluded that (1) Al stress can lead to lipid peroxidation; (2) there is a larger POD family composed of different POD isoforms, some of which are of tissue-specific expression and play different roles in detoxification of Al in maize; (3) for POD isoforms, POD 2 is root-specific. POD 6 and POD 7 are all leaf-specific, POD 5 is not only root-specific but also RS-responsive; (4) high sensitivity of maize to Al is in part associated with much lower activities of both SOD and POD in roots; and (5) more importantly, both SOD and POD are therefore hinted to be not key players in prevention against Al-induced lipid peroxidation.
Preparation of Surface-modified Nanosized Al(OH)3 Powders

Abstract: Nanosized Al(OH)3 powder was prepared by the carbonation method from sodium aluminates solution and carbon dioxide. The influence of concentration of reactant, rotating speed of rotating packed bed and ratio of gas-liquid flow rate on Al(OH)3 particle size in the preparation process was investigated. The optimal operating optimum conditions were determined as follows: sodium aluminates 120 g/L, ratio of gas-liquid flow rate 1.5~4.0, rotating speed 1200 r/min. Adding surface modifier TEBAC/PO43- is helpful to the control of agglomeration of Al(OH)3 particles. The product was characterized by TEM and XRD. The prepared particles are monoclinic and well-dispersed with a mean size of 20 nm .
Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Novel Benzothiazole-2-thiol Derivatives as Potential Anticancer Agents

Abstract: A series of novel benzothiazole-2-thiol derivatives were synthesized and their structures determined by 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and HRMS (ESI). The effects of all compounds on a panel of different types of human cancer cell lines were investigated. Among them, pyridinyl-2-amine linked benzothiazole-2-thiol compounds 7d, 7e, 7f and 7i exhibited potent and broad-spectrum inhibitory activities. Compound 7e displayed the most potent anticancer activity on SKRB-3 (IC50 = 1.2 nM), SW620 (IC50 = 4.3 nM), A549 (IC50 = 44 nM) and HepG2 (IC50 = 48 nM) and was found to induce apoptosis in HepG2 cancer cells.
Total Flavonoids Extracted from Xiaobuxin-Tang on the Hyperactivity of Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal Axis in Chronically Stressed Rats

Abstract: Our previous studies have demonstrated that the total flavonoids (XBXT-2) isolated from the extract of Xiaobuxin-Tang (XBXT), a traditional Chinese herbal decoction, ameliorated behavioral alterations and hippocampal dysfunctions in chronically stressed rats. Studies over the last decades have suggested that the hyperactivity of hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis is one of the most consistent findings in stress-related depression. Herein, we used the same chronic mild stress model of rats as before to further investigate the effect of XBXT-2 on the hyperactivity of HPA axis, including the stress hormones levels and glucocorticoid receptors (GRs) expression. Our ELISA results showed that chronic administration of XBXT-2 (25, 50 mg kg?1, p.o., 28 days, the effective doses for behavioral responses) significantly decreased serum corticosterone level and its upstream stress hormone adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) level in chronically stressed rats. Furthermore, western blotting result demonstrated XBXT-2 treatment ameliorated stress-induced decrease of GRs expression in hippocampus, an important target involved in the hyperactivity of HPA axis. These results were similar to that of classic antidepressant imipramine treatment (10 mg kg?1, p.o.). In conclusion, the modulation of HPA axis produced by XBXT-2, including the inhibition of stress hormones levels and up-regulation of hippocampal GRs expression, may be an important mechanism underlying its antidepressant-like effect in chronically stressed rats.

Abstract: Taking a new generation of weather radar systems to secondary products as the data source, the new system is composed of a comprehensive background distribution system and prospects site system with which the secondary radar products can be shared within the network and can be browsed online. Prospects site provides users with rich view models like single-screen, double-screen, four-screen, the list, and so on. It adopts the "page image buffer technology" and achieves a secondary radar products online animation, so that forecasters can accurately understand the evolution of the radar echoes in a span of time. Its background distribution system is based on C / S structure. And its prospects site systemis based on B / S structure. It plays the maximum role of data sharing in network technology.
Two Wheat Glutathione Peroxidase Genes Whose Products Are Located in Chloroplasts Improve Salt and H2O2 Tolerances in Arabidopsis

Abstract: Oxidative stress caused by accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) is capable of damaging effects on numerous cellular components. Glutathione peroxidases (GPXs, EC 1.11.1.9) are key enzymes of the antioxidant network in plants. In this study, W69 and W106, two putative GPX genes, were obtained by de novo transcriptome sequencing of salt-treated wheat (Triticum aestivum) seedlings. The purified His-tag fusion proteins of W69 and W106 reduced H2O2 and t-butyl hydroperoxide (t-BHP) using glutathione (GSH) or thioredoxin (Trx) as an electron donor in vitro, showing their peroxidase activity toward H2O2 and toxic organic hydroperoxide. GFP fluorescence assays revealed that W69 and W106 are localized in chloroplasts. Quantitative real-time PCR (Q-RT-PCR) analysis showed that two GPXs were differentially responsive to salt, drought, H2O2, or ABA. Isolation of the W69 and W106 promoters revealed some cis-acting elements responding to abiotic stresses. Overexpression of W69 and W106 conferred strong tolerance to salt, H2O2, and ABA treatment in Arabidopsis. Moreover, the expression levels of key regulator genes (SOS1, RbohD and ABI1/ABI2) involved in salt, H2O2 and ABA signaling were altered in the transgenic plants. These findings suggest that W69 and W106 not only act as scavengers of H2O2 in controlling abiotic stress responses, but also play important roles in salt and ABA signaling.

Abstract: “Human rights above sovereignty” is the important theoretical foundation of the western countries' new interventionism. The theory is a fallacy in that it distorts the relationship between human rights and sovereignty and exaggerates individuals' role in the international cemmunity. As to the United States, it has carried on human rights diplomacy for a long time. However, the theory of “human rights above sovereignty” has been widespread since 1990s, with a profound background of international politics and economy. The theory of “human rights above sovereignty” is directly intended as a theory for interfering in other countries' internal affairs, avoiding the responsibility of doing it for the western countries' existing international strategic objectives.

Abstract: 通过研究表明,克里阳钾镁煌斑岩的δ^13C值为-2.79‰~-3.3‰,δ^18O值为 14.5796‰~ 16.43‰。其相容元素Cr、Ni,不相容元素Ba、Sr、Nb、Ta、Zr、Hf、Th含量比较亏损,惰性元素及放射性生热元素等(除U外)均较亏损,极亏损高场强元素Nb、Ti、Ta,说明其产出可能与古俯冲作用有关。这些特征均表明,该区钾镁煌斑岩比较完好地保存着源区特征。克里阳钾镁煌斑岩的Sr初始比值为0.70807,与国际同类岩石相比有些偏高,在中国属中度;Pb同位素比值^206Pb/^204Pb为18.3556。从Pb、Sr同位素组成及其他地球化学特征来看,它们很可能也反映了一种亏损地幔为主和再循环的壳源物质的混合作用。
