Abstract: We prove that the length spectrum metric and the arc-length spectrum metric are almost-isometric on the $\epsilon_0$-relative part of Teichmuller spaces of surfaces with boundary.
Benzopyranones from the Endophytic Fungus Hyalodendriella sp. Ponipodef12 and Their Bioactivities

Abstract: The endophytic fungus Hyalodendriella sp. Ponipodef12 was isolated from the hybrid ‘Neva’ of Populus deltoides Marsh × P. nigra L. In this study, four benzopyranones were isolated from the ethyl acetate extract of Hyalodendriella sp. Ponipodef12, and identified as palmariol B (1), 4-hydroxymellein (2), alternariol 9-methyl ether (3), and botrallin (4) by means of physicochemical and spectroscopic analysis. All the compounds were evaluated for their antibacterial, antifungal, antinematodal and acetylcholinesterase inhibitory activities. 4-Hydroxymellein (2) exhibited stronger antibacterial activity than the other compounds. Palmariol B (1) showed stronger antimicrobial, antinematodal and acetylcholinesterase inhibitory activities than alternariol 9-methyl ether (3) which indicated that the chlorine substitution at position 2 may contribute to its bioactivity. The results indicate the potential of this endophytic fungus as a source of bioactive benzopyranones.

Abstract: We extend our earlier work in [TZ1], where an analytic approach to the Guillemin-Sternberg conjecture [GS] was developed, to cases where the Spin^c-complex under consideration is allowed to be further twisted by certain exterior power bundles of the cotangent bundle. The main result is a weighted quantization formula in the presence of commuting Hamiltonian actions. The corresponding Morse-type inequalities in holomorphic situations are also established.

Synthesis of well-defined functional PE graft copolymers via ATRP process

Abstract: In summary, we have demonstrated a convenient yet highly efficient method for the preparation of PE-based graft copolymers via ATRP. By introducing a small amount of styrene groups into PE chains via the selective copolymerization of ethylene with 1,4-divinylbenzene catalyzed by Et(Ind)2ZrCl2/MAO, the multifunctional ATRP initiator of 1-chloroethylbenzene-containing PE was readily achieved by a quantitative hydrochlorination reaction and was shown to be very effective for the initiation of graft polymerization of MMA and styrene to prepare structurally well-defined PE-based graft copolymers.

Abstract: 给出两水平固壁间两层不可压缩理想流体中二维非线性界面波的演化方程,首先建立出这个演化方程,并由此方程在一定条件下得到二维非线性界面长波满足的近似方程,然后从理论上证明这个长波近似方程包含了以下两个描述一阶界面升高的著名的浅水孤立波方程;Korteweg-de Vries(KdV)方程和Kadomtsev-Petvishvili(KP)方程,所得特殊结果与前人的一致,表明所建立的二维非线性界面波演化方程正确且具有一般性。
Application of Object Based Classification and High Resolution Satellite Imagery for Savanna Ecosystem Analysis

Abstract: Savanna ecosystems are an important component of dryland regions and yet are exceedingly difficult to study using satellite imagery. Savannas are composed are varying amounts of trees, shrubs and grasses and typically traditional classification schemes or vegetation indices cannot differentiate across class type. This research utilizes object based classification (OBC) for a region in Namibia, using IKONOS imagery, to help differentiate tree canopies and therefore woodland savanna, from shrub or grasslands. The methodology involved the identification and isolation of tree canopies within the imagery and the creation of tree polygon layers had an overall accuracy of 84%. In addition, the results were scaled up to a corresponding Landsat image of the same region, and the OBC results compared to corresponding pixel values of NDVI. The results were not compelling, indicating once more the problems of these traditional image analysis techniques for savanna ecosystems. Overall, the use of the OBC holds great promise for this ecosystem and could be utilized more frequently in studies of vegetation structure.
