D+ to mu+nu and fD+ from 281 pb-1 at Psi(3770) from CLEO-c

Abstract: We report improved measurements of branching fraction and decay constant fD+ in D+ to mu+nu using 281 pb-1 of data taken on the Psi(3770) resonance with the CLEO-c detector. We extract a relatively precise value for the decay constant of the D+ meson by measuring Br(D+ to mu+nu) = (4.40+-0.66+0.09-0.12)x10^-4 and find fD+ = (222.6+-16.7+2.8-3.4) MeV. We also set 90% confidence upper limit on Br(D+ to e+nu) < 2.4x10^-5 which limits contributions from non-Standard Model physics.
Hadronic branching fractions and DDbar cross-sections at Psi(3770) from CLEO-c

Abstract: We present some recent results in hadronic decays and cross-section measurements at Psi(3770) from CLEO collaboration. They include measurement of absolute hadronic branching fractions of D mesons and e+e- to DDbar cross-sections, inclusive production of eta, eta', phi in D decays, branching fractions of D+ to K0_{S,L} pi+ and eta pi+, Psi(3770) non-DDbar decays, and timelike electromagnetic form factors of pion, kaon and proton. These results are based on 55.8 pb-1 and 281 pb-1 at Psi(3770), and other data samples collected by the CLEO-c detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR).

Abstract: We review some recent results on B to charmonia decays from CLEO based on 9.7 BBbar pairs collected with the CLEO detector. These include measurements of B^{0} to J\Psi K^0_s, \chi_{c1} K^0_s and J/\Psi \pi^0 branching fractions, search for direct CP violation in B^{\pm} to J/\Psi K^\pm and \Psi(2S) K^\pm, observation of B \to \eta_{c} K, study of \chi_{c1}, \chi_{c2} production and measurement of the relative branching fraction of \Upsilon(4S) to charged and neutral B meson pairs.

Abstract: Recent semileptonic D meson decay results are summarized, including the improved measurements of absolute branching fractions for exclusive D0 semileptonic decays into $K^{-}e^{+}\nu$, $\pi^{-}e^{+}\nu$ and $K^{*-}e^{+}\nu$, and the first observation and absolute branching fraction measurement of $D^{0} \to \rho^{-}e^{+}\nu$ with the first CLEO-c data sample.

New Analysis Strategy to Search for New Particles at LHC

Abstract: The ATLAS and CMS experiments at LHC have great physics potential in discovering many possible new particles, from Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson to supersymmetric (SUSY) and other beyond the SM new particles over a very large mass range around the TeV scale. We first review the current analysis strategy in searching for new particles at LHC and its vulnerability to statistical fluctuations. We then discuss an alternative new analysis strategy in order to avoid this vulnerability. We use maximum likelihood method as an example and discuss the new challenges in using maximum likelihood method as such a new analysis strategy to search for new particles at LHC.

Abstract: Recent CLEO results on beauty and charm meson decays presented at the International Conference on Flavor Physics (ICFP2001) are discussed. The results include exclusive rare B decays (B to PP, PV, VV, \phiK^(*), l^+l^-K^(*)), inclusive b to s \gamma, and CP violation measurements in beauty and charm mesons. Preliminary results on rare B decays using CLEO III data are also included.

Abstract:

In order to formulate the logistics risk early warning model of listed corporations of manufacturing industry in Beijing area,40 A-stock listed companies of manufacturing enterprise in Beijing area are taken as the study samples, the principal components analysis method is applied to the logistics risk index of Sample Firms in 2009-2011 for extracting principal components to achieve simplified indicators. The validity of the constructed model is tested, the strengths and limitations of the early warning model are analyzed and the ways to improve the validity of the early warning model are proposed.

Abstract: This paper proposed to use double polarization synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image to classify surface feature, based on DEM. It takes fully use of the polarization information and external information. This pa-per utilizes ENVISAT ASAR APP double-polarization data of Poyang lake area in Jiangxi Province. Com-pared with traditional pixel-based classification, this paper fully uses object features (color, shape, hierarchy) and accessorial DEM information. The classification accuracy improves from the original 73.7% to 91.84%. The result shows that object-oriented classification technology is suitable for double polarization SAR’s high precision classification.
Detailed Theoretical Investigations on the L-Shell Absorption of Open-M-Shell Germanium Plasmas:Effect of Autoionization Resonance Broadening  [PDF]

Abstract: Radiative opacity of open-M-shell germanium plasmas in the L-shell photon energy region were investigated in detail by using a fully relativistic detailed level accounting approach. Among other physical effects such as relativistic and the interaction between fine-structure levels belonging to the same non-relativistic configuration and different configurations, particular attention is paid on the effect of autoionization resonance broadening on the L-shell absorption. The results show that for plasmas at present and past typical experimental conditions, line width due to autoionization resonance broadening dominate among all the physical broadening mechanisms including electron impact and Doppler broadenings. Such an effect is most pronounced for ions with just a few 2p-nd transition lines such as Ge14+, while it is not so pronounced for complex ions such as Ge16+, where there are so many 2p-nd lines that line overlapping partly conceal the effect of autoionization resonance broadening. After taking the effect of autoionization resonance broadening into account, detailed comparisons are made with available experimental spectra at different physical conditions of different plasma temperatures and densities. The L-shell absorption is sensitive to the plasma temperature, especially in the 2p-3d excitation energy region. The potential of utlizing the relative shape and intensity of the 2p-3d spin-orbit splitting as temperature diagnostics is investigated.
