Carbonization of Chlorinated Organic Residual Liquid for Energy Source Generation  [PDF]

Abstract: Chlorinated organic residual liquid is produced from the distillation process of new refrigerants production. It is difficult to be treated by traditional water treatment process and incineration process. In this study, a carbonization process at atmospheric pressure was used to convert this residual liquid to carbonaceous product and organic gas in 2 h at 230℃ or 260℃. The carbonaceous product was characterized by scanning electron microscope, Fourier-transform infrared spectrometer and thermo gravimetric analysis. The element composition and the high heat value of these products were similar to anthracite and lignite, respectively, showing that they could be used as alternative fuels. The components of organic gas were analyzed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and the gas had potential for incineration.

Abstract: Nonylphenol polyethoxylates (NPEOs) are widely used as nonionic surfactants in many industry fields. High concentration NPEOs waste water is produced in some production processes. It is often treated to realize reduction by distillation. Therefore, NPEOs waste liquid with higher concentration is produced and it is difficult to be treated by traditional water treatment process. In this study, hydrothermal carbonization process was used to convert NPEOs waste liquid to carbonaceous product (hydrochar) with sulfuric acid as additive in 24 h at 200°C. The hydrochar was characterized by scanning electron microscope, Fourier-transform infrared spectrometer and thermogravimetric analysis. The element composition and the high heat value of the hydrochar were similar to lignite, showing that it could be used as an alternative fuel.

Abstract: In modern scientific research, massive datasets with huge numbers of observations are frequently encountered. To facilitate the computational process, a divide-and-conquer scheme is often used for the analysis of big data. In such a strategy, a full dataset is first split into several manageable segments; the final output is then averaged from the individual outputs of the segments. Despite its popularity in practice, it remains largely unknown that whether such a distributive strategy provides valid theoretical inferences to the original data. In this paper, we address this fundamental issue for the distributed kernel regression (DKR), where the algorithmic feasibility is measured by the generalization performance of the resulting estimator. To justify DKR, a uniform convergence rate is needed for bounding the generalization error over the individual outputs, which brings new and challenging issues in the big data setup. Under mild conditions, we show that, with a proper number of segments, DKR leads to an estimator that is generalization consistent to the unknown regression function. The obtained results justify the method of DKR and shed light on the feasibility of using other distributed algorithms for processing big data. The promising preference of the method is supported by both simulation and real data examples.
The Effect of Baroreflex Function on Blood Pressure Variability  [PDF]

Abstract: Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the relationship of blood pressure variability (BPV) and heart rate variability (HRV) to investigate the effect of baroreflex function on blood pressure variability. Methods: This study consisted of 111 subjects, including 32 normotensives and 79 hypertensives. All the subjects were given two concurrent tests: 24-hour Holter ECG and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. According to standard deviation of normal-to-normal sinus RR intervals (SDNN) derived from the Holter ECG, the hypertensives were divided into two groups: an HRV normal group with SDNN > 100 ms and an HRV abnormal group with SDNN < 100 ms. HRV analysis used the time domain measure SDNN and two frequency domain analyses using low-frequency and high-frequency power. BPV analysis involved a formula correlated to each blood pressure value. Results: BPV was significantly higher in the HRV abnormal group compared with the HRV normal group in the hypertensives (0.018 ± 0.0033 vs 0.014 ± 0.0032, P < 0.05). In the HRV abnormal group, BPV value of the older hypertensive participants was higher than the younger participants (0.019 ± 0.0024 vs 0.017 ± 0.0037, P = 0.048). BPV and HRV were correlated in the younger hypertensives (r = ﹣0.314, P < 0.05) and older hypertensives (r = ﹣0.692, P < 0.001). Conclusions: Baroreflex function had effect on BPV. Factors like aging could cause damage to the baroreflex sensitivity, which in turn had influence on BPV. There may be benefits in restoration of baroreflex function to reduce BPV, especially in hypertensive patients.


Dynamics of a Delay-Varying Computer Virus Propagation Model

Abstract: By considering the varying latency period of computer virus, we propose a novel model for computer virus propagation in network. Under this model, we give the threshold value determining whether or not the virus finally dies out, and study the local stability of the virus-free and virus equilibrium. It is found that the model may undergo a Hopf bifurcation. Next, we use different methods to prove the global asymptotic stability of the equilibria: the virus-free equilibrium by using the direct Lyapunov method and virus equilibrium by using a geometric approach. Finally, some numerical examples are given to support our conclusions.

Abstract: According to the existed structure and algorithm of extension controller, proposed an improved extension control algorithm based on the Optimal Control, which was named LQR-EC, and applied to a SIMO system—Crane-Double Pendulum System. And, using MATLAB simulation platform to study the effect of the LQR—EC Algorithm. The result shows that, the LQR-EC Algorithm not only has a simple theory, but also has rapid response and stability.

Abstract: Let L be a finite extension of Q_p and d a positive integer. A conjecture, due to C. Breuil and P. Schneider, says that the existence of invariant norms on certain locally algebraic representations of GL_{d+1}(L) should be equivalent to the existence of certain (d+1)-dimensional de Rham representations of Gal(\bar{L}/L). We prove the easy direction of this conjecture: the existence of invariant norms implies the existence of admissible filtrations, by generalizing an idea of M.Emerton.
