Abstract: Registration of deaths classified as femicide, is an issue that occupies a breach of law, and that in this matter inconsistencies and absences in the information generated persist and persist in popular culture a strong stigma that various social groups and affected (victims) lead to underreporting of gender violence. Documentary research that conducted to determine the association of geographic areas and social factors related to violence to women occurred in the state of Yucatan during 2004 to 2014. Of the major findings of this study are: there are significant differences in the presence of domestic violence with the economic sector with a value of the test statistic of 13,500 with two degrees of freedom, a significant difference with a P-value of 0.001 (P-value < 0.05) was obtained, and P-value 0.000 (P-value < 0.05) for the murders of women. Geospatial distribution shows that the municipalities highest number of cases reported are found in large cities, and related to the three sectors of economic activity. Geographical distribution is North, South and East of the state. We conclude that it is required to have a surveillance system for the prevention of gender violence, also provide therapy to both men and women who have lived or have used violence systematically and taught by trained and sensitive to provide such care staff, and thus prevent deaths from gender violence.

A prospective study of cat-scratch disease in Lima-Peru
Revista do Instituto de Medicina Tropical de S?o Paulo , 2002,
Abstract: Cat-Scratch Disease (CSD) is a benign lymphadenitis that may progress to severe or recurrent forms, and it is occasionally associated with morbidity. Between January of 1998 and March of 1999, forty-three suspected CSD patients were assessed in the Hospital Cayetano Heredia and the Instituto de Salud del Ni o, in Lima, Peru. Twelve patients had a confirmed diagnosis, 8 of whom were women, and the mean age was 10 years old. The majority (53%) of the cases were encountered in the summer. All patients reported having had contact with cats. Fever, malaise, lymphadenopathy and skin lesions were the most frequent clinical features. Twelve patients had indirect immunofluorescence antibody test titers of between 1/50 and 1/800 for Bartonella henselae and Bartonella clarridgeiae. Two lymph node biopsies were histologically compatible with CSD. No positive blood cultures could be obtained. This is the first Peruvian prospective study able to identify B. henselae and B. clarridgeiae in pediatric patients.

In this study had been evaluated the diet of phyllostomids bats of the montane forest of the Kos ipata Valley (San Pedro, Cusco). The species of bats evaluated belong to the genus Carollia, Sturnira and Anoura. The diet was evaluated regarding the presence of pollen and seeds in fecal samples. Also, it was analyzed the importance of the plants consumed, the food niche breath and the food niche overlap. The results showed that the diet of the bats is mostly compounded of fruit and nectar-pollen of the plants. The principal resources registered belong to the genus Piper (registered in 23,08% of the samples), Cecropia (in 21,15%) and Abutilon (in 13,46%), which was the most important resources for the community of bats evaluated. The food niche breath of the six species analyzed showed that they are specialist in their diet in the study zone. The highest level of food niche overlap occurs between the species C. brevicauda, C. perspicillata and S. erythromos.

Alfonso J. García, Yolanda Troyano
Psychology (PSYCH) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/psych.2013.43A041

Based on the original survey “Relating to Older People Evaluation” (ROPE) by Cherry and Palmore (2008), we have elaborated the instrument Evaluation for Older Adults that consists of 20 items. In this project, we intend on studying the positive and negative behaviors which people have been able to inter- nalize during their daily life, as well as a previous psychometric analysis about the validity of the instru- ment. The sample is formed by, on one side, students of Psycho pedagogy, and the other side, older stu- dents that belong to the Class of Experience of the University of Seville. The results obtained suggest that the majority of the people take into consideration the positive behaviors, and both the young and the older adults reinforce the behaviors of and toward the older adults. It is important to highlight the significant differences as far as gender in relation to the internalization of positive behaviors, being more frequent in women than in men. In the discussion, we analyze the implications about social perception towards older people as a social phenomenon, as well as the strategies to reduce the negative behaviors towards older people in daily life.

Abstract: to contribute to the knowledge of symptoms and factors associated with the infection by blastocystis hominis of patients attending the outpatient clinic of the department of enfermedades transmisibles y dermatológicas (detd) of the hospital nacional cayetano heredia. a prospective case-control study was carried out from january to march 1999, in patients between the ages of 5 to 80 years. the case-patients had a positive stool examination for b. hominis (in the absence of other pathogens such helminths) done at the laboratory of tropical medicine. the controls had at least 2 of 3 negative fecal samples of b. hominis, in absence of other pathogens. the presence of b. hominis was examined under direct microscopy (high-power field x 400) and it was rated from 1 plus to 4 plus according to the quantity of parasites present. epidemiological data, symptomatology and the factors associated with infection in each patient were registered a total of 144 persons (74 cases and 70 controls) matched by age and sex were included in the study. a significant statistical correlation (p < 0.05) was found between the presence of b. hominis and the presence of symptoms (91.9%). the predominant symptoms in order of significance (p < 0.05), associated to the infection by b. hominis were: abdominal pain (or = 3) 1.47 < or < 6.60, abdominal distention (or = 2.36) 1.06 < or < 5.29, urticaria (or = 3.19) 0.81 < or < 12.48. the only risk factor found associated with the infection with b. hominis, was the consumption of raw unboiled water (or = 2.52) 1.01 < or < 5.83
