Abstract: Objective To assess the predictive value of serum uric acid levels for cardiovascular and all-cause mortality in a large prospective population based study.Methods The study was based on 3648 participants in Shanghai and Beijing,who were inpatients with high cardiovascular(CV) risk at baseLine (2004.7 to 2005.1),and blood was taken.Follow-up for death from cardiovascular disease and any cause was complete until January 1,2006.Results The mean follow-up was 1 years.There were 303 deaths during follow-up,of which 121 were cardiovascular.Crude mortality rates were 8.3 % for all patients,6.8% for female patients (116/1715),and 9.7% (187/1933) for male patients.Among men,patients in the lower and higher uric acid groups had increased cardiac and overall mortality risks compared with patients in the normal uric acid groups.Similar relation was found in women but not statistically significant.After adjusting for other conventional risk factors (age,diabetes,hypertension,diuretic use and smoking),baseline uric acid level was still associated with increased risk for death from cardiovascular disease (P=0.005),or death from all causes (P=0.014) Conclusion Our data suggest that abnormal serum uric acid levels are independently and significantly associated with risk of cardiovascular and all-cause mortality.(J Geriatr Cardiol 2008;5:15-20)
Predictability of the 500 hPa Height Field

Abstract: The dimensions of attractors and predictability are estimated from phase space trajectories of observed 500 hPa height over the Northern Hemisphere. As a first estimate the dimensions of attractors are about 11.5 and the doubling time of the initial error is 6 to 7 days for original data. But the former is shorter and the latter is longer for low fre-quency data set.To verify if the predictability estimated by this method and by general circulation model is identical, the doubling time of the initial error of a model data set by both methods is estimated. It is shown that the predictability obtained from phase space trajectories is overestimated to sufficient small initial error. But it is underestimated to the time be-ing equal to the climatological RMS error.

Abstract:
This paper explores the impact of product diversity on consumers’ online impulse purchase intentions in the context of e-commerce development, and finds that product diversity has a significant negative impact on consumers’ online impulse buying intentions. Compared with the great product diversity, consumers have higher online impulse buying willingness when they do not have many choices. Further, we found that this effect is regulated by different shopping objects (oneself vs. intimate others). At the same time, information processing fluency plays a mediating role in this effect.

Abstract: In this paper, we study the three-body recombination rate of a homogeneous dilute Bose gas with a Feshbach resonance at zero temperature. The ground state and excitations of this system are obtained. The three-body recombination in the ground state is due to the break-up of an atom pair in the quantum depletion and the formation of a molecule by an atom from the broken pair and an atom from the condensate. The rate of this process is in good agreement with the experiment on $^{23}$Na in a wide range of magnetic fields.
An Axis Involving SNAI1, microRNA-128 and SP1 Modulates Glioma Progression

Abstract: Background Glioblastoma is an extraordinarily aggressive disease that requires more effective therapeutic options. Snail family zinc finger 1, dysregulated in many neoplasms, has been reported to be involved in gliomas. However, the biological mechanisms underlying SNAI1 function in gliomas need further investigation. Methods Quantitative real-time PCR was used to measure microRNA-128 (miR-128) expression level and western blot was performed to detect protein expression in U87 and U251 cells and human brain tissues. Cell cycle, CCK-8, transwell and wound-healing assays were performed. Dual-luciferase reporter assay was used for identifying the mechanism of SNAI1 and miR-128b regulation. The mechanism of miR-128 targeting SP1 was also tested by luciferase reporter assay. Immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridisation staining were used for quantifying SNAI1, SP1 and miR-128 expression levels in human glioma samples. Results The Chinese Glioma Genome Atlas (CGGA) data revealed that SNAI1 was up-regulated in glioma and we confirmed the findings in normal and glioma tissues. SNAI1 depletion by shRNA retarded the cell cycle and suppressed proliferation and invasion in glioma cell lines. The CGGA data showed that the Pearson correlation index between SNAI1 and miR-128 was negatively correlated. SNAI1 suppressed miR-128b expression by binding to the miR-128b specific promoter motif, and miR-128 targeted SP1 via binding to the 3′-untranslated region of SP1. Moreover, introduction of miR-128 anti-sense oligonucleotide alleviated the cell cycle retardation, proliferation and invasion inhibition induced by SNAI1 shRNA. Immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridisation analysis of SNAI1, SP1 and miR-128 unraveled their expression levels and correlations in glioma samples. Conclusions We propose that the SNAI1/miR-128/SP1 axis, which plays a vital role in glioma progression, may come to be a clinically relevant therapeutic target.

Abstract: In this paper, the parameter estimation problem is investigated for the continuous time stochastic logistic diffusion system. A new continuous process is built based on the likelihood ratio scheme, the Radon-Nikodym derivative and the explicit expressions of the error of estimation are given under this new continuous process. By using the random time transformations, law of large numbers for martingales, law of iterated logarithm and stationary distribution of solution, the consistency property are proved for the estimation error. Finally, a numerical simulation is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in this paper.

Abstract: This paper is concerned with the pricing problem of the discrete arithmetic average Asian call option while the discrete dividends follow geometric Brownian motion. The volatility of the dividends model depends on the Markov-Modulated process. The binomial tree method, in which a more accurate factor has been used, is applied to solve the corresponding pricing problem. Finally, a numerical example with simulations is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract: In this paper, the call option price is evaluated based on linear investment strategy in order to hedge the risk actively in stock market with stochastic interest rate. The Vasicek model is used to describe the structure of interest rates. The mathematical characterization is discussed for the unique no-arbitrage price associated with any attainable contingent claim. The appropriate numeraire (zero-coupon bond) and measures (T-forward measure) are chosen to simplify the calculations. Based on the designed linear investment strategy with stochastic interest rate, a novel option price approach is obtained under the T-forward measure.
A TWO-DIMENSIONAL ENERGY BALANCE CLIMATE MODEL INCLUDING RADIATION AND ICE CAPS-ALBEDO FEEDBACK

Abstract: A simplified two-dimensional energy balance climate model including the solar and infrared radiation transports, the turbulent exchanges of heat in vertical and horizontal directions and the ice caps-albedo feedback is developed The solutions show that if the atmosphere is considered as a grey body and the grey coefficient depends upon the distributions of absorption medium and cloudiness, both horizontal and vertical distributions of temperature are identical to the observation.On the other hand, comparing the models that the atmosphere is considered as a grey body with ones that the infrared radiation is parameterized as a linear function of temperature, as was considered by Budyko, Sellers(1969), then the results show that even though both of them can obtain the earth's surface temperature in agreement with the observation, the sensitiv ity of the climate to the changes of solar constant is very different. In the former case,the requirement for the ice edge to move southward from the normal 72°N to 50°N(i.e. where the glacial climate would take place) is that the solar constant should decrease by 13% to 16%. However, in the latter case, the climate is highly sensitive to the changes of solar radiation. In this case, the requirement of solar radiation occurring in the glacial climate should decrease by 2% to 6%. According to the investigations mentioned above we must be careful when the parameterizations of the radiation and other processes are conducted in a climate model, otherwise the reliability of the results is suspicious.

Abstract: 本文设计了一个热力—动力耦合的理论模式,所得到温度场和运动场的平均气候状态基本上与实况接近.分析表明,温度场和速度场是相互制约的,温度分布在纬向上的不均匀形成了垂直经圈环流,此种流场又把赤道的热量往极地输送,其结果与没有运动场耦合的情况相比,可使赤道温度降低而极地温度升高.研究模式气候对太阳常数变化的敏感性后指出,要使冰界线从现在的72°N南移到冰河期的50°N,太阳常数要减小15%左右.这在考虑或不考虑流场耦合的模式中都是差不多的.
