Generalized Cartan Calculus in general dimension

Abstract: We develop the generalized Cartan Calculus for the groups $G=$SL$(2,\mathbb{R})\times\mathbb{R}^+$, SL$(5,\mathbb{R})$ and SO(5,5). They are the underlying algebraic structures of $d=9,7,6$ exceptional field theory, respectively. These algebraic identities are needed for the "tensor hierarchy" structure in exceptional field theory. The validity of Poincar\'e lemmas in this new differential geometry is also discussed. Finally we explore some possible extension of the generalized Cartan calculus beyond the exceptional series.
Tensor Hierarchy and Generalized Cartan Calculus in SL(3)$\times$SL(2) Exceptional Field Theory

Abstract: We construct exceptional field theory for the duality group SL(3)$\times$SL(2). The theory is defined on a space with 8 `external' coordinates and 6 `internal' coordinates in the $(3,2)$ fundamental representation, leading to a 14-dimensional generalized spacetime. The bosonic theory is uniquely determined by gauge invariance under generalized external and internal diffeomorphisms. The latter invariance can be made manifest by introducing higher form gauge fields and a so-called tensor hierarchy, which we systematically develop to much higher degree than in previous studies. To this end we introduce a novel Cartan-like tensor calculus based on a covariant nil-potent differential, generalizing the exterior derivative of conventional differential geometry. The theory encodes the full $D=11$ or type IIB supergravity, respectively.
Non-toric bases for elliptic Calabi-Yau threefolds and 6D F-theory vacua

Abstract: We develop a combinatorial approach to the construction of general smooth compact base surfaces that support elliptic Calabi-Yau threefolds. This extends previous analyses that have relied on toric or semi-toric structure. The resulting algorithm is used to construct all classes of such base surfaces $S$ with $h^{1, 1} (S) < 8$ and all base surfaces over which there is an elliptically fibered Calabi-Yau threefold $X$ with Hodge number $h^{2, 1} (X) \geq 150$. These two sets can be used todescribe all 6D F-theory models that have fewer than seven tensor multiplets or more than 150 neutral scalar fields respectively in their maximally Higgsed phase. Technical challenges to constructing the complete list of base surfaces for all Hodge numbers are discussed.
Black holes in Truncated Higher Spin AdS$_3$ Gravity

Abstract: We study the higher spin black holes in a truncated version of higher spin gravity in $AdS_3$. This theory contains only finite number of even spins s=2,4,...,2N. We mainly focus on the simplest case, so-called (Type I and II) spin ${\tilde 4}$ gravity, which contains only spin 2 and spin 4 fields. This spin ${\tilde 4}$ gravity is as simple as spin 3 gravity, thus provides another example to test various ideas on higher spin gravity. We find that the asymptotical symmetry of this spin ${\tilde 4}$ gravity is a classical W(2,4)-symmetry. Moreover, we study the black hole solution with pure spin 4 hair and discuss its thermodynamics. One important feature of this black hole is that its entropy could be written in compact forms. Furthermore, we investigate a $G_2$ generated higher spin gravity. This higher spin gravity only contains spin 2 and spin 6 fields which makes it different from other kinds of higher spin gravity. We find the corresponding black hole with spin 6 hair, and discuss its thermodynamics analytically. It turns out that the black holes with spin 4 or spin 6 hair constructed in this paper are the only black holes with single higher spin hair, besides the spin 3 black hole found in arXiv:1103.4304.
Response Surface Methodology to Optimize Enzymatic Preparation of Deapio-Platycodin D and Platycodin D from Radix Platycodi

Abstract: In the present work, we reported the enzymatic preparation of deapio-platycodin D (dPD) and platycodin D (PD) optimized by response surface methodology (RSM) from Radix Platycodi. During investigation of the hydrolysis of crude platycosides by various glycoside hydrolases, snailase showed a strong ability to transform deapio-platycoside E (dPE) and platycoside E (PE) into dPD and PD with 100% conversion. RSM was used to optimize the effects of the reaction temperature (35–45 °C), enzyme load (5–20%), and reaction time (4–24 h) on the conversion process. Validation of the RSM model was verified by the good agreement between the experimental and the predicted values of dPD and PD conversion yield. The optimum preparation conditions were as follows: temperature, 43 °C; enzyme load, 15%; reaction time, 22 h. The biotransformation pathways were dPE→dPD3→dPD and PE→PD3→PD, respectively. The determined method may be highly applicable for the enzymatic preparation of dPD and PD for medicinal purposes and also for commercial use.
Supervised locality preserving projection and tensor decomposition for multi-view face recognition

Abstract: To solve the incapability of multi-linear analysis algorithm with multi-view face images, this paper proposed an improved algorithm . A supervised locality preserving projection that accurately described the nonlinearity in pose embedding space was introduced to project the face images into a low dimensional subspace. In the SLPP algorithm the neighboring points as supervised information could find the global structure as well as local structure. Combining with tensor decomposition and kernel methods, it well learned a set of nonlinear mapping functions from the embedding space into the input space. The proposed method was evaluated on Oriental Face database of multi-view face images in comparison to the other subspace methods. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the new method.

Abstract: 2005年2月15日~3月10日使用全方向性麦克风记录了南极地区4种企鹅(王企鹅、长眉企鹅、白眉企鹅和纹颊企鹅)的叫声,分析了其叫声的声谱图和能谱图,比较了不同种企鹅在叫声的持续时间、最高(低)频率和主频等方面的差异。通过比较发现,4种企鹅的叫声存在着明显的种间差异,这使得不同种的企鹅可以从声音上彼此区分开。而无巢企鹅(王企鹅)的声音结构比有巢企鹅(其余3种)更加复杂,这与营无巢生活的习性相符合。

Abstract: A new oleanane-type triterpenoid saponin, named platycoside N (1), together with six known saponins, was isolated from the roots of Platycodon grandiflorum. On the basis of acid hydrolysis, comprehensive spectroscopic data analyses and comparison with the spectral data of the known compounds, its structure was elucidated as 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→6)-β-D-glucopyranosyl-2β,3β,16α,23-tetrahydroxyolean-12-en-28-oic acid 28-O-β-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)-α-L-arabinopyranoside. The six known compounds were platycodin D (2), deapioplatycodin D (3), platycodin D3 (4), deapio- platycodin D3 (5), platycoside E (6) and deapioplatycoside E (7).
A compact in-plane photonic crystal channel drop filter

Abstract: This paper presents a novel in-plane photonic crystal channel drop filter. The device is composed of a resonant cavity sandwiched by two parallel waveguides. The cavity has two resonant modes with opposite symmetries. Tuning these two modes into degeneracy causes destructive interference in bus waveguide, which results in high forward drop efficiency at the resonant wavelength. From the result of numerical analysis by using two-dimensional finite-difference time-domain method, the channel drop filter has a drop efficiency of 96% and a Q value of over 3000, which can be used in dense wavelength division multiplexing systems.
Anti-penetration performance of high entropy alloy–ceramic gradient composites

Abstract: A high-entropy alloy–ceramic gradient composite of TiC–TiB2/75vol% Al0.3CoCrFeNi was successfully prepared by combustion synthesis under an ultra-high gravity field, which is a low-cost method with high efficiency. The ceramic particles were gradient distributed in the Al0.3CoCrFeNi matrix, and the hardness of the composite material gradually decreased along the thickness direction. The anti-penetration performance of the gradient composites was simulated using the ANSYS/LS-DYNA explicit simulation program. The results demonstrate that the distribution of the ceramic particles strongly affected the mechanical properties and the anti-penetration performance of the composites. With the same total ceramic volume fraction, the gradient composites exhibit better anti-penetration performance than the corresponding ceramic–metal interlayer composites. The more uneven the ceramic distribution, the greater the elastic modulus and yield stress of the surface layer and, thus, the better the anti-penetration performance.
