Abstract: in this article we raise the fact that information on armed conflicts or wars is determined not only by typical factors related to the journalistic profession but also by specific factors present in war situations. in the context of armed confrontation, the logic of military communication and the logic the media explain the information coverage of armed conflict provided by the mass media. in principle, this is due to the fact that the militants and armed groups act as the main "information sources" for the media. thus, while journalists are mainly looking for information to inform people about a specific armed conflict, the military (and the armed groups) is mainly interested in winning the war. this is the reason why moisy (2001, p. 202) asserts that: "when it comes to military actions on the battle field, we have to admit that the requirements for transparency of mass media are incompatible with the importance given to effectiveness by the military"

Abstract: this article examines the beliefs and social legitimacy as important elements in the emergence, maintenance and evolution of political violence and the role of the media and building cultures of peace. in this dynamic of armed conflict and peace, the discourses are constructed by social groups such as the structural changes that society needs to develop a culture of peace, so that the media play an important role, and functioning as a of the main tools that the armed (or out of state law) used to broadcast the speeches prepared in the framework of psychological operations whose purpose is to legitimize the violence engaged in combating the opponent.

Abstract: INTRODUCCIóN: los productos medicinales naturales se pueden utilizar para numerosos problemas de salud. OBJETIVOS: detectar las reacciones adversas asociadas al uso de la medicina natural y clasificar estas reacciones aplicando relación de causalidad y gravedad. MéTODOS: se realizó un estudio descriptivo, retrospectivo, observacional, longitudinal. Se consideró como elegible para el estudio, el universo conformado por el conjunto de los reportes de posibles reacciones adversas por productos naturales que se utilizaron durante 2003 y 2007. RESULTADOS: se observó un predominio en la frecuencia de aparición de las reacciones adversas a medicamentos en el sexo femenino, los productos más frecuentes fueron ajo (Allium sativum L.), orégano (Plectranthus amboinicus (Lour.) Spreng.), propóleos y fangos medicinales. CONCLUSIONES: las reacciones adversas leves fueron las más frecuentes y se clasificaron como probables y ocurrieron en mayor proporción en mujeres.

A Methodological Proposal for Pharmacotherapeutic Updating Seminars Propuesta metodológica para los seminarios de actualización farmacoterapéutica

Abstract: The teaching of pharmacology must comply with the scientific method since the selection of drugs is an ongoing, multidisciplinary and participatory process to be developed based on the efficiency, safety, quality, convenience and cost of drugs. Undergraduate clinical training is based, in most cases, in the development of diagnostic capacities rather than in treatment capacities given that this discipline had been taught, until very recently, by pharmacological groups which has resulted in poor prescriptive skills once students receive their degrees. The curricula emitted by the national group of Pharmacology for 2010-2011 proposes that clinical pharmacology should be taught by health problems. Performing updating Pharmacotherapeutic seminars during internship is a way to link Pharmacology with clinical subjects aimed at increasing students’ knowledge on this discipline. In this sense we propose a methodology for the development of these seminars intended to strengthen the prescriptive skills of students. La ense anza de la Farmacología debe adherirse al método científico, ya que, la selección de medicamentos es un proceso continuo, multidisciplinario y participativo que debe desarrollarse basado en la eficacia, seguridad, calidad, conveniencia y costo de estos medicamentos. La formación clínica de pregrado se centra en la mayoría de los casos en el desarrollo de capacidades diagnósticas más que en las terapéuticas, pues la disciplina se impartía hasta hace muy poco tiempo por grupos farmacológicos lo que ha traído como consecuencia que los estudiantes terminen sus estudios con débiles habilidades prescriptivas, el plan de estudio que dispuso el grupo nacional de Farmacología para el curso 2010-2011, propone que la Farmacología Clínica se imparta por problemas de salud, la realización de seminarios de actualización farmacoterapéutica durante el internado es una forma de vincularla con las asignaturas clínicas cuyo objetivo es desarrollar los conocimientos de esta disciplina en los estudiantes, a tal efecto se propone una metodología para el perfeccionamiento de estos seminarios que tienen como intención: consolidar las habilidades prescriptivas de los estudiantes.
Study of Decoherence of Elementary Gates Implemented in a Chain of Few Nuclear Spins Quantum Computer Model  [PDF]

Abstract: We study the phenomenon of decoherence during the operation of one qubit transformation, controlled-not (CNOT) and controlled-controlled-not (C2NOT) quantum gates in a quantum computer model formed by a linear chain of three nuclear spins system. We make this study with different type of environments, and we determine the associated decoherence time as a function of the dissipative parameter. We found that the dissipation parameter to get a well defined quantum gates (without significant decoherence) must be within the range of . We also study the behavior of the purity parameter for these gates and different environments and found linear or quadratic decays of this parameter depending on the type of environments.

Abstract:

We make a numerical study of decoherence on the teleportation algorithm implemented in a linear chain of three nuclear spins system. We study different types of environments, and we determine the associated decoherence time as a function of the dissipative parameter. We found that the dissipation parameter to get a well defined quantum gates (without significant decoherence) must be within the range of γ4×10-4 for not thermalized case, which was determined by using the purity parameter calculated at the end of the algorithm. For the thermalized case the decoherence is stablished for very small dissipation parameter, making almost not possible to implement this algorithm for not zero temperature.

Construction, purification, and characterization of a chimeric TH1 antagonist

Abstract: A chimeric antagonist that can antagonize the action of TH1 immunity mediators, IFN-γ and IL-2, was designed, engineered, expressed in E. coli, purified and evaluated for its in vitro biological activities. The TH1 antagonist molecule consists of the extracellular region for the human IFNγ receptor chain 1 fused by a four-aminoacid linker peptide to human 60 N-terminal aminoacid residues of IL-2. The corresponding gene fragments were isolated by RT-PCR and cloned in the pTPV-1 vector. E. coli (W3110 strain) was transformed with this vector. The chimeric protein was expressed at high level as inclusion bodies. The protein was partially purified by pelleting and washing. It was then solubilized with strong denaturant and finally refolded by gel filtration. In vitro biological activity of chimera was demonstrated by inhibition of IFN-γ-dependent HLA-DR expression in Colo 205 cells, inhibition of IFN-γ antiproliferative effect on HEp-2 cells, and by a bidirectional effect in assays for IL-2 T-cell dependent proliferation: agonism in the absence versus inhibition in the presence of IL-2.TH1 antagonist is a chimeric protein that inhibits the in vitro biological activities of human IFN-γ, and is a partial agonist/antagonist of human IL-2. With these attributes, the chimera has the potential to offer a new opportunity for the treatment of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.Interferon gamma (IFN-γ), produced by activated T and NK cells [1], macrophages and dendritic cells [2], has important immunomodulatory and inflammatory actions [3,4]. The activities of IFN-γ are initiated following association of the cytokine with a membrane-bound receptor (IFNGR) present on many cell types [5]. The receptor comprises two subunits (IFNGR1 and IFNGR2). IFNGR1 has an extracellular portion of 228 residues [6], that also occurs in soluble form and can function as an endogenous IFN-γ inhibitor [7]. Abstract: The Hamiltonian associated to the mass variable system is constructed from first principles through finding a constant of motion of the system. A comparison is made of the classical motion of a body with its mass position depending in the (x,v) space and (x,p) space which are defined by the constant of motion and the Hamiltonian, for a particular model of mass variation. As one could expected, these motion looks different on these spaces. The quantization of the harmonic oscillator with this mass variation is done, and a comparison is made by using the usual Hamiltonian approach with the proposed quantization of the constant of motion approach. This comparison is done at first order in perturbation theory, and one sees a difference between both approaches which can, in principle, be measured.
Generalization of the Force Approach to Radiation Reaction  [PDF]

Abstract: A new approach to radiation reaction for the correction of the linear and circular motion of a charged particle takes into account the emission of electromagnetic radiation due to its acceleration. This new formulation was based on expressing the radiation reaction force in terms of the external force rather than the acceleration of the charge. In this paper, a generalization of the radiation reaction force in terms of the external force approach is formulated for any arbitrary motion of the charged particle. This generalization includes the linear and circular acceleration cases previously investigated.
