Blume-Emery-Griffiths dynamics in social networks

Abstract: We introduce the Blume-Emery-Griffiths (BEG) model in a social networks to describe the three-state dynamics of opinion formation. It shows that the probability distribution function of the time series of opinion is a Gaussian-like distribution. We also study the response of BEG model to the external periodic perturbation. One can observe that both the interior thermo-noise and the external field result in phase transition, which is a split phenomena of the opinion distributions. It is opposite between the effect acted on the opinion systems of the amplitude of the external field and of the thermo-noise.
Bond-orientational Order in Melting of Colloidal Crystals

Abstract: Using Brownian dynamics simulation, we study the orientational order in melting transition of colloidal systems with $'$soft$'$ Yukawa potential. The bond-orientational order parameter $\Phi_{6}$ and the bond-orientational order function $g_B(r)$ are calculated in two-dimensional systems. It is found that a two-stage transition and the hexatic phase are indeed existent in two-dimensional melitng, which is consistent with the prediction of the Kosterlitz-Thouless-Halperin-Nelson-Young theory. For comparing with the melting process in three-dimensional systems, the probability distribution of single-particle local order parameter is introduced. Based on the extensive simulations, it is qualitatively suggested that the breakdown of local order only occurs on the fractional part of the colloidal systems for the two-dimensional melting, but in three-dimensional melting, this breakdown takes place on the whole systems at the same time.
Tribological Properties of Nanostructured Iron Sulfide Coating Deposited by Plasma Spraying

Abstract: Nanostructured iron sulfide coating was deposited by atmospheric plasma spraying. The friction and wear properties of the coating were investigated on an MHK-500 friction and wear tester under both oil lubrication and dry friction condition. The surface morphology, microstructure and worn surface morphologies of the coating were characterized with scanning electron microscopy. The phase composition of the coating was determined by X-ray diffraction. The coating was mainly composed of FeS, a small quantity of Fel1-xS and oxide. The coating was formed by small particles with size in the range of 50 - 100 nm. The plasma-sprayed nanostructured iron sulfide coating exhibited better tribological performance than GCr15 steel. Especially under oil lubrication, the friction coefficient of the nanostructured iron sulfide coating was half of that of GCr15 steel, the wear widths of the coating was also reduce to nearly half of that of GCr15 steel under high load. The failure of the coating was mainly due to plastic deformation under both oil lubrication and drv friction.
Estimation of surface energy and day evapotranspiration in a dry-farming region of Northwest China using satellite data

Abstract: By using observational data of land processes and EOS/MODIS data,the surface parameters,energy flux and day evapotranspiration in the dry-farming region in Northwest China are derived.Then,the spatial-temporal variety of flux and day evapotranspiration are analyzed.The result shows that surface characters of the region are well reflected by retrieval values from EOS/MODIS.The most of relative errors of different parameters are less than 20%.There are asymmetric distributions of flux and day evapotranspiration of the region.The current of seasonal change is of a single-apex model,which is lower in winter and higher in summer.Comparing with the region with middle and low vegetation fractions,the values of some parameters are higher for the region with a higher vegetation fraction,which include net radiation,latent heat flux and day evapotranspiration.The values of other parameters are lower which are soil heat flux and sensible heat flux.The characters of all these parameters are more prominent in spring and summer.Seasonal change of energy flux in middle and low vegetation fraction regions is not obvious,showing that dry soil is thick in the dry-farming region in Northwest China.
Analyses on Intra-annual Inhomogeneity Characteristic of Extreme Strong Precipitation Events in China

Abstract: 基于中国314个台站逐日降水资料,根据百分位值法定义了极端强降水阈值,引入了表征时间分配特征的新参数--极端强降水事件集中度和集中期,对中国极端强降水事件年内非均匀性进行了分析,结果表明:中国年极端强降水事件集中度与集中期自西北向东南均呈“低-高-低”的分布特点,其异常空间分布也存在很大的区域差异;从区域平均来看,西北西部是中国年极端强降水事件最分散的区域,东北是最集中的区域。东北、西北东部、华北以及青藏高原年极端强降水事件集中期相当,明显迟于其它区域,而长江中下游是最早的区域;另外各区域年极端强降水事件的集中度与集中期的长期趋势并不一致,而它们均存在着较一致的周期振荡。

Abstract: Using a macroscopic analysis, we show that time-dependent noncollinear spin transport possesses a wavelike character. This leads to modifications of pure spin-diffusion dynamics and allows one to extract a finite spin-signal propagation velocity. We numerically study the dynamics of a pure spin current pumped into a nonmagnetic layer for precession frequencies ranging from GHz to THz.
Signal propagation in time-dependent spin transport

Abstract: This paper analyzes theoretically the signal propagation in spin transport by modulating the current passing through magnetic multilayers. Using a macroscopic description of spin transport based on the dynamical Boltzmann equation, we show that time-dependent spin transport possesses a wave-like character that leads to modifications of pure spin-diffusion dynamics. In particular, the wave-like characteristics allow one to extract a finite spin signal-propagation velocity.
