First record of Lower Triassic Undichna spp. fish swimming traces from Emei, Sichuan Province, China

Abstract: We discuss traces from the ichnospecies Undichna unisulca recorded from the Triassic that are reported for the first time in this paper. These fossils are also some of the oldest vertebrate ichnites discovered in China to date. The fish swimming traces (Undichna unisulca) described originate from the Lower Triassic. These traces were found in the Jialingjiang Formation and are located at a gorge ~7.5 km from Emei, Sichuan Province, China. The ichnospecies Undichna unisulca consists of a regular sinusoidal wave. The wavelengths and amplitudes are quite constant between each specimen ranging between 28–32 mm and 9–12 mm, respectively. The fish swimming traces and distribution within the same bed are preserved as hypichnial ridges at the undersurface.

Abstract: In the present paper, the dynamic problem of a thin viscoelastic circular plate under axisymmetrical load resting on a viscoelastic half-space foundation is discussed. This problem is rnduced to a Fredholm integral equation of the first kind in the Laplace transformation space and solved by numerical procedures. The results of the problem is obtained by taking the numericai Laplace transform inversion.

Abstract: The rockburst in mines is local instability during excavation, which is related to layer crack plate construction. The formation and buckling of layer crack plate construction are analyzed. The stress criterion of crack growth and the construction buckling instability condition are given. The results of experiment based on this idea coincide basically with theory analysis.

Abstract: In situ observation via SEM was conducted to study the crack-tip crazing damage process in polymers under loading. By considering the polymer bulk as linear viscoelastic body and the craze zone at crack tip as a nonlinear damage zone, the control equation for craze zone growth was derived. It is shown that for a time-independent craze-zone stress, the craze zone grows only if the crack-tip stress intensity factor is changed. If the crack-tip stress intensity factor remains constant during loading, the growth rate of the craze zone length will be interrelated to the crack-tip stress, the craze zone length and the rate of change of the craze-zone stress. If both the craze-zone stress and the crack-tip stress intensity factor are time-independent, the craze zone length will be constant during crack growth, which is the case of self-similar crack growth. Moreover, a new stress distribution model in craze zone was presented based on the constructed damage evolution law. The lengthening and thickening of the craze zone at a crack tip was formulated. The numerical calculations from the proposed model agree well with published experimental data.

Abstract: Time-dependent characteristics of buckling load under creep condition are studied by analyzing the stability of viscoelastic plate. A time-dependent function that depends upon the materials behavior in the buckling equation of a plate is derived. Buckling load of the structure is investigated theoretically. The analytical results show that the creep buckling is dependent not only upon the dimensions of structure but also the viscoelastic behavior of material. There exists a "delay buckling" under creep condition. The value of critical load of instability relates to time and depends on the functions of material. Under a given load, instability may occur with a time delay. The tests of thin-plate by means of HDPE (high density polyethylene) were to be done by authors. The experimental results are in good agreement with theoretical analysis.

Abstract: The results of creep test in site for rock mass and discontinuity in shiplock area of the Three Gorges Project are introduced. Considering the effects of construction excavation and seepage pressure, the rheological analysis on the stability of shiplock slope is made during construction and running. The analysis results are validated by measured data in site.

Abstract: By analyzing rockburst in Sanhejian Coal Mine, the growth, coalescence and interaction of cracks with free surface are discussed in the compression stress concentration area near opening free surface. Near the free surface, the growth, coalescence and interaction of cracks with free surface make crack propagation and cause the thin rock layer parallel to free surface. This process repeats continuously. Thin rock layers buckle and fracture under outside disturbance, and lead to the occurence of rockburst. Splitting is a dominant manner of destruction.
Myostatin Inhibition in Muscle, but Not Adipose Tissue, Decreases Fat Mass and Improves Insulin Sensitivity

Abstract: Myostatin (Mstn) is a secreted growth factor expressed in skeletal muscle and adipose tissue that negatively regulates skeletal muscle mass. Mstn?/? mice have a dramatic increase in muscle mass, reduction in fat mass, and resistance to diet-induced and genetic obesity. To determine how Mstn deletion causes reduced adiposity and resistance to obesity, we analyzed substrate utilization and insulin sensitivity in Mstn?/? mice fed a standard chow. Despite reduced lipid oxidation in skeletal muscle, Mstn?/? mice had no change in the rate of whole body lipid oxidation. In contrast, Mstn?/? mice had increased glucose utilization and insulin sensitivity as measured by indirect calorimetry, glucose and insulin tolerance tests, and hyperinsulinemic-euglycemic clamp. To determine whether these metabolic effects were due primarily to the loss of myostatin signaling in muscle or adipose tissue, we compared two transgenic mouse lines carrying a dominant negative activin IIB receptor expressed specifically in adipocytes or skeletal muscle. We found that inhibition of myostatin signaling in adipose tissue had no effect on body composition, weight gain, or glucose and insulin tolerance in mice fed a standard diet or a high-fat diet. In contrast, inhibition of myostatin signaling in skeletal muscle, like Mstn deletion, resulted in increased lean mass, decreased fat mass, improved glucose metabolism on standard and high-fat diets, and resistance to diet-induced obesity. Our results demonstrate that Mstn?/? mice have an increase in insulin sensitivity and glucose uptake, and that the reduction in adipose tissue mass in Mstn?/? mice is an indirect result of metabolic changes in skeletal muscle. These data suggest that increasing muscle mass by administration of myostatin antagonists may be a promising therapeutic target for treating patients with obesity or diabetes.

Abstract: The migration of fluorine atoms in poly-silicon and SiO2 of BF+2 implanted Si-gate before and after annealing has been analyzed using SIMS. The results show that a part of fluorine atoms of BF+2 implanted Si-gate with an energy of 80keV and doses of 2×1015 and 5×1015cm-2 after annealing diffiuse into SiO2 region of this gate. Anomalous migration of fluorine atoms is observed in both poly-silicon and SiO2. This is due to the collection of fluorine atoms in the regions of residual damage and bond defects.

Abstract: This paper describes a system for the analysis of the administrative discretion standard. Now, it is a new phenomenon in the practice of administrative law enforcement. We shall first briefly introduce fuzzy sets and related concepts of the administrative discretion standard, and then, we try to introduce the intrinsic value of its legitimacy. At the same time, the research standard of interpretation, procedure and “requirements-effect” are discussed based on the analysis through its content. From the above discussion, the conclusion can be reached that it is the power’s structure to deal with individuals and societies on the micro side.
