Revista de Enfermagem UFPE On Line , 2010,
Abstract: Objective: to bring thoughts about public policies and legislation regarding adolescent health. Methodology: narrative literature review, built by bibliographical and documentarian research. We searched in LILACS, SciELO, BDENF and ADOLEC bases, from 2005 to 2009. The descriptors used: adolescent, public policy, health policy, adolescent health. The sample was composed of eleven articles and nine documents. Results: in 1985, WHO announced the international year of youth and Brazil was signatory, inferring in a national policy reorientation. Since then, there has been changes that influenced positively the construction of a governmental policy for health for teenagers. Its highlights were: promulgation of the Federal Constitution in 1988, creation of adolescent health program in 1989, institution of The Statute of Children and Adolescents in 1990. Even with rights established along this documents, essential to subside a qualified assistance to hospitalized adolescents, we observed that such rights are frequently violated or poorly respected. Conclusion: it′s believed that the practice of health regulations will be held if health professionals be aware of then, encouraging to demand its execution by the health institutions.

Araújo, Yana Balduíno de;Collet, Neusa;Moura, Flávia Moura de;Nóbrega, Rosenmylde Duarte da;
Texto & Contexto - Enfermagem , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-07072009000300013
Abstract: the objective of this qualitative study was to identify the knowledge from the family about the chronic condition in childhood, as well as specific care to be given in their home. the data was collected at the pediatric clinic of the lauro wanderley university hospital in brazil, involving seven care takers of children diagnosed with a chronic disease between january and april of 2008. the collection technique was the semi-structured interview. data interpretation followed the thematic analysis method. the results reveal that the information given to the family has been given in a very subtle way and the mothers feel difficulties in learning the orientations, given the technical and specific medical vocabulary. this impedes the development of autonomy in their administration of care for the child who has a chronic disease. mothers' knowledge about their child's disease is not enough for the development of home care. the health team needs to interact with the family, creating the domino effect towards a process of autonomous home care.

Texto & Contexto - Enfermagem , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-07072010000300003
Abstract: this study aimed to better understand the meaning of chronic disease for school-age children. it involves qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory research. the field-research was performed in a pediatric clinic of a university hospital in brazil. seven pediatric inpatients in the aforementioned institution with chronic illness, aged seven to twelve years of age participated in the study. the data was collected via semi-structured interviews and followed thematic interpretation principles. the results showed that these children experience chronic disease as something which imposes limitations and difficulties on their daily lives. however, there have been reports of children showing the understanding of disease as something normal, evidencing that they don't know what it is to live without experiencing the illness. the chronic illness leads the child to try to understand the situation and to cooperate with the treatment. it may promote the development of onerous feelings like fear, shame, sadness, and doubts concerning the past, present, and future.

Abstract: objectives: the aim of this study was to determine the overall cost involving the surgical procedure for liver transplantation performed at the hospital das clínicas, universidade federal de pernambuco (hc/ufpe). methods: the authors analyzed the last four liver transplantation procedures performed at the mentioned hospital. patients were classified according to the united network for organ sharing health severity index into class one, (two patients), class two (one patient); and class four (one patient). the parameters evaluated to determine the procedure costs were: hospitalization, operating room and monitoring equipment fees. cost estimate was provided by the financial department of the hospital in july 2001; and comprised of oxygen fees, disposable material and medications, diagnostic tests and hemotherapy costs. the authors did not include cost analysis for procedure on donors, nor the cost of the medical, nursing and paramedics involved. results: the disposable materials items accounted for the leading cost parameters, reaching 48,5% of the overall cost, followed by hospitalization and medication fees with 17,9 % and 16,1%, respectively. conclusions: the authors concluded that the average cost of a liver transplantation at the hc/ufpe in the period 1998-2001, was of r$22.184,00 reais (us$8.873,76; u$1,00 = r$2,50).
A Theoretical Study of Binary and Ternary Hydride-Bonded Complexes N(Beh2)...X with N = 1 or 2 and X = K+ or Ca+2  [PDF]
Regiane Araújo, Boaz Galdino de Oliveira
Open Journal of Physical Chemistry (OJPC) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/ojpc.2011.13018
Abstract: A theoretical study of hydride bonds formed between beryllium hydride and alkaline earth metal cations is presented. B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) calculations were used for determining the optimized geometries of the BeH2...K+, BeH2...Ca+2, BeH2...K+...BeH2, and BeH2...Ca+2...BeH2 hydride-bonded complexes, where among them the first are binaries, whereas the last ones are ternaries with the calcium (Ca+2) and potassium (K+) ions mediating the interactions with the beryllium hydride (BeH2). A detailed structural analysis were performed, by which the yielded profiles are in good agreement with results of the infrared vibrational spectrum, mainly in regards to the existence of red-shifted modes followed by enlarged absorption intensity ratios of the B-H bonds of the binary complexes. The capability of either donating or accepting of protons among BeH2, K+, and Ca+2, is currently treated in conformity with Lewis’s acid/base theory, but is also interpreted through the application of the Quantum Theory of Atoms in Molecules (QTAIM), whose formalism consents in the molecular modeling of concentrations and depletions of charge density ruled by the Laplacian shapes, charge transference fluxes, as well as by the local virial theorem of the electronic density with quantification of the kinetic and potential energies along the bonds and interactions.
Semantic information and artificial intelligence
Anderson de Araújo
Computer Science , 2014,
Abstract: For a computational system to be intelligent, it should be able to perform, at least, basic deductions. Nonetheless, since deductions are, in some sense, equivalent to tautologies, it seems that they do not provide new information. The present article proposes a measure the degree of semantic informativity of valid deductions in a dynamic setting. Concepts of coherency and relevancy, displayed in terms of insertions and deletions on databases, are used to define semantic informativity. In this way, the article shows that a solution to the problem about the informativity of deductions provides a heuristic principle to improve the deductive power of computational systems.
A quantitative approach to semantic informativity
Anderson de Araújo
Computer Science , 2014,
Abstract: This article shows a form of measuring semantic informativity of deductions. Dynamic concepts of complexity and relevancy are presented according to explicit definitions of insertion and deletion on databases. Hence, with respect to finite databases, it solves Bar-Hillel-Carnap paradox and Hintikka' scandal of deduction.
Acute Normovolemic Hemodilution: A Practical Approach  [PDF]
Liana Maria Torres De Araújo, Luis Vicente Garcia
Open Journal of Anesthesiology (OJAnes) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ojanes.2013.31011

Justifications: Perioperative allogeneic blood transfusion can be reduced or even completely avoided by using a set of different strategies: meticulous hemostasis, the use of pharmaceutical agents that assist in the process of coagulation/ fibrinolysis, the use of blood substitutes, induced hypotension, preoperative autologous blood donation, collection and reinfusion of autologous blood during the operation, as well as from acute normovolemic hemodilution (ANH). Contents: ANH consists of taking a percentage of the patient’s blood volume and a concurrent infusion of acellular fluids in order to maintain normovolemia. As a consequence, a hemodiluted patient will lose less blood cells for each blood volume that is lost during the surgical procedure. The aim of this study is to clarify doubts and provide practical information relative to the procedure of ANH through the author’s own experiences as well as literary examples. Conclusions: ANH is an easy and cheap technique performed during the intraoperative period useful to reduce the use of hemoderivatives.
