The Effect of Poverty Alleviation Policy on the Regional Economic Development: Evidence from the County Level  [PDF]

Abstract: Based on the county-level panel data from1997 to 2010, the influence of national poverty alleviation policy on economic development in the new period was analyzed by the method of difference in difference. The results show that GDP in non-poverty area is varied from 84% to 65.7%, higher than poverty area; therefore, the gap has narrowed by 18.3%. Besides, the effect on regional economy has an upward trend. This study confirms the effectiveness of the national poverty alleviation program.

Abstract: Pre-school education is the core content of education teaching system, and art is an indispensable professional course. Higher vocational art teachers not only need to pay attention to the improvement of students’ main professional abilities, but also should pay attention to the improvement of students’ aesthetic consciousness and personal cultivations in modern innovation and entrepreneurship education perspective. Aimed at cultivating talents with high-quality, innovation and entrepreneurship, we should optimize the curriculum, teaching content and teaching methods of art courses in order to further improve the teaching quality of education professional art courses lay a foundation. In recent years, the ministry of education has carried out some programs to cultivate college students’ innovation and entrepreneurship. Art is an important course to improve students’ aesthetic consciousness and personal cultivations. At present, many higher vocational preschool education institutions have included professional art course as one of the compulsory courses, but there are still many problems in preschool education. This paper puts?forwardsome measures to promote higher vocational college students’ innovation and entrepreneurship development.

Abstract: This paper presents an effective Bayesian network model for medical diagnosis. The proposed approach consists of two stages. In the first stage, a novel feature selection algorithm with consideration of feature interaction is used to get an undirected network to construct the skeleton of BN as small as possible. In the second stage for greedy search, several methods are integrated together to enhance searching performance by either pruning search space or overcoming the optima of search algorithm. In the experiments, six disease datasets from UCI machine learning database were chosen and six off-the-shelf classification algorithms were used for comparison. The result showed that the proposed approach has better classification accuracy and AUC. The proposed method was also applied in a real world case for hypertension prediction. And it presented good capability of finding high risk factors for hypertension, which is useful for the prevention and treatment of hypertension. Compared with other methods, the proposed method has the better performance.

Abstract: Digital image watermarking is a useful solution to the problem of information security, copyright and network security. In this paper, we propose a watermarking algorithm for color image based HT and DWT. A binary image as watermark is embedded into green component or blue component of color image. The algorithm can satisfy the transparence and robustness of the watermarking system very well. The experiment based on this algorithm demonstrates that the watermarking is robust to the common signal processing techniques including JPEG compressing, adding noise, low pass filter, and mosaic.

Abstract:

We decompose UK market volatility into short- and long-run components using EGARCH component model and examine the cross-sectional prices of the two components. Our empirical results suggest that these two components are significantly priced in the cross-section and the negative risk premia are consistent with the existing literature. The Fama-French three-factor model is improved by the inclusion of the two volatility components. However, our ICAPM model using market excess return and the decomposed volatility components as state variables compares inferiorly to the traditional three-factor model.

Abstract: This paper researches the main technology of open CNC engraving machine, the DXF identification technology. Agraphic information extraction method is proposed. By this method, the graphic information in DXF file can be identified and transformed into bottom motion controller’s code. So the engraving machine can achieve trajectory tracking. Then the open CNC engraving machine system is developed with C#. At last, the method is validated on a three axes motion experiment platform. The result shows that this method can efficiently identify the graphic information including line, circle, arc etc. in DXF file and the CNC engraving machine can be controlled well.

Abstract: This paper describes industrial sorting system, which is based on robot vision technology, introduces main image processing methodology used during development, and simulates algorithm with Matlab. Besides, we set up image processing algorithm library via C# program and realize recognition and location for regular geometry workpiece. Furthermore, we analyze camera model in vision algorithm library, calibrate the camera, process the image series, and resolve the identify problem for regular geometry workpiece with different colours.

Abstract: In this?paper, we propose a numerical method based on semi-Lagrangian approach for solving quasi-geostrophic (QG) equations on a sphere. Using potential vorticity and stream-function as prognostic variables, two-order centered difference is suggested on the latitude-longitude grid. In our proposed numerical scheme, advection terms are expressed in a Lagrangian frame of reference to circumvent the CFL restriction. The pole singularity associated with the latitude-longitude grid is eliminated by a smoothing technique for the initial flow. Error analysis is provided for the numerical scheme.
Comparison between Peer Feedback and Automated Feedback in College English Writing: A Case Study  [PDF]

Abstract: As written feedback is an indispensable component of instructing and learning process, the implementation of effective feedback plays a key role in improving non-English majors’ writing skill. Peers and automated writing evaluation systems are new, main sources of feedback providers in college English writing. This paper compares three feedback conditions: individual and group modes in peer feedback and automated feedback. Analysis is made on distribution features from feedback types, dimensions of assessment rubric, aspects of organization and linguistic performance, and reflected attitudes. The findings indicate automated mode and group mode take turns dominating in non-corrective feedback and corrective feedback; group mode takes the lead in both direct and indirect feedback; individual, group and automated modes underemphasize global feedback. Dimensions are found to centre on linguistic performance, followed by organization, content and format, differences and similarities of specific aspects and attitudes are also found in all three modes. Further investigations are undertaken into students’ perceptions towards peer feedback and automated feedback, with their respective merits and demerits summed up. On the basis of all the findings, key elements of sociocultural theory are explored to provide multi-dimensional feedback scaffolding for students of lower-intermediate level in facilitating college English writing.

Abstract: In this paper, the feasibility and advantages of employing high performance liquid chromatographic-photodiode array detection (HPLC-DAD) fingerprint combined with chemical pattern recognition for quality consistency evaluation of widely used Rhizoma rodgersiae (RR) were investigated and demonstrated for the first time. The Similarity Evaluation System was employed to evaluate the similarities of 10 batches of RR sample; moreover, hierarchical clustering analysis (HCA) and principal component analysis (PCA) were also successfully applied to discriminate RR samples of different regions and seasons. Our results indicated that the seasonal variation had some influence on the chemical fingerprints of this herbal drug. This approach allowed the discrimination of RR samples from different sources. The current study demonstrated that fingerprint profiling coupled with chemical pattern recognition offered a reliable and efficient way to comprehensively assess the quality consistency of the tested samples.
