Data on Hatchlings of Caucasian Rock Lizard, Darevskia valentini (Boettger, 1892) in Northeastern Anatolia

Abstract: During our field work in the Tepeler Village (Ardahan, Turkey) on 27th of August, 2010, we observed hatchlings of Darevsika valentini. The mean body length of was found as 28.06±1.14 (25.3 30.4) and the total length as 70.81±3.92 (61.9 81.0). Juveniles were generally observed under stones and those portions of the roots of annual herbaceous plants which remain under stone are also used as shelters for juveniles. Neonates on the southern slopes of the hills could be individually seen and mostly, individuals aggregated [median number of individuals, 6 (115)] and lived in groups.

Abstract: The study presents data on the food composition of Horváth’s toadheaded agama, Phrynocephalus horvathi, in northern slopes of Mount Ararat (Aral k, I d r). A total of 294 prey items were determined in the digestive systems of 36 (8 males, 11 females, and 16 juveniles) individuals examined in the study. Prey groups in the food composition are included in Aranea (1.4%), Orthoptera (1.0%), Hymenoptera (73.5%), Coleoptera (23.1%) and Diptera (1.0%). No significant difference was observed between sexes regarding food composition. Consequently, Phrynocephalus horvathi is partially myrmecophagous (73.5%) and an active predator.

The interest of Turkey with the island has begun accompanied by the Otoman Empire conquest the island in 1571. The period which left behind is an agitating period. The Cyprus has been protecting its strategical importance for Turkey today, as well.Turkey, based on the Agreement which was signed in1960 among Greece, England and Turkey had to interfere to the island on 20th July, 1974. In this study, the reflections and comments of that interference day and the following days on foreign press, on the Canada newspaper named “The Globe and Mail”that has 164 years of past were taken in hand. In mentioned writings, it should be noted that there is no any technical criticism related to the military operation which was realized by the Turkish Military Powers.The most important inference which will be obtained from the reflected news and comments on The Globe and Mail newspaper is the emphasis of Turkey is an occupier and performed genocide in the island.

Abstract: In the first paper of this series, we propose a multi-resolution theory of Fourier spectral estimates of finite duration signals. It is shown that multi-resolution capability, achieved without further observation, is obtained by constructing multi-resolution signals from the only observed finite duration signal. Achieved resolutions meet bounds of the uncertainty principle (Heisenberg inequality). In the forthcoming parts of this series, multi-resolution Fourier performances are observed, applied to short signals and extended to time-frequency analysis.
Extraction of Signals Buried in Noise: Non-Ergodic Processes  [PDF]

Abstract: In this paper, we propose extraction of signals buried in non-ergodic processes. It is shown that the proposed method extracts signals defined in a non-ergodic framework without averaging or smoothing in the direct time or frequency domain. Extraction is achieved independently of the nature of noise, correlated or not with the signal, colored or white, Gaussian or not, and locations of its spectral extent. Performances of the pro-posed extraction method and comparative results with other methods are demonstrated via experimental Doppler velocimetry measurements.
Extraction of Buried Signals in Noise: Correlated Processes  [PDF]

Abstract: In this paper, we propose extraction of signals correlated with noise in which they are buried. Proposed extraction method uses no a-priori information on the buried signal and works independently of the nature of noise, correlated or not with the signal, colored or white, Gaussian or not, and locations of its spectral extent. Extraction of buried correlated signals is achieved without averaging in the time or frequency domain.

Abstract: In this paper, we report application procedures and observed results of multi-resolution Fourier analysis proposed in the first part of this series. Missing signal recovery derived from multi-resolution theory is developed. It is shown that multi-resolution Fourier analysis enhances dramatically performances of Fourier spectra suffering limitations traced to implicit time windowing. Observed frequency resolutions, improvement of frequency estimations, contraction of spectral leakage and recovery of missing parts of finite duration signals are in accordance with theoretical predictions.

Abstract: Finite difference techniques are widely used for the numerical simulation of time-dependent partial differential equations. In order to get better accuracy at low computational cost, researchers have attempted to develop higher order methods by improving other lower order methods. However, these types of methods usually suffer from a high degree of numerical dispersion. In this paper, we review three higher order finite difference methods, higher order compact (HOC), compact Padé based (CPD) and non-compact Padé based (NCPD) schemes for the acoustic wave equation. We present the stability analysis of the three schemes and derive dispersion characteristics for these schemes. The effects of Courant Friedrichs Lewy (CFL) number, propagation angle and number of cells per wavelength on dispersion are studied.

Abstract: Filariasis endemicity research in District Pemayung, Batanghari Regency Post-Mass Drug Administration Phase III has been implemented. The study aims to determine the prevalence of filariasis, microfilaria worm species, the periodicity, reservoir determination and evaluate the results of mass treatment activities that have been 3 times. The number of people who checked their blood preparation for the examination as many as 538. Blood sampling for the periodicity of the parasite examinations performed on 4 persons, each carried out blood sampling every 2 hours for 24 hours. People microfilariae with microfilariae positive number as many as 8 people to rate microfilariae (Mf rate) 1.5%.. The highest parasite density of 17.493 per 20 cu mm of blood occurred at 1:00 am and decresing to 0,415 per 20 cu mm of blood at 07.00 am. The parasite was found in sub periodic nokturna 3 subjects and 1 subject was found only be found in the morning and afternoon. The results of examination of 12 cats and two monkeys were found two positive cats with Brugia malayi microfilariae. Cats that were examined and the positive was one house cat and one stray cat). The conclusion from this study showed that filariasis was still endemic with periodicity of microfilariae was sub periodic nokturna and was zoonotic. Recommendations of this study was that mass treatment was done by giving the drug directly and took medicine in front of the officers, examination and treatment of microfilariae positive cats. Abstrak Submit : 28-03-2012 Review : 04-04-2012 Review : 11-06-2012 revisi : 29–08-2012 Penelitian untuk menentukan tingkat endemisitas filariasis di wilayah Kecamatan Pemayung, Kabupaten Batanghari Pasca Pengobatan Massal Tahap III telah dilaksanakan. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui prevalensi filariasis, mengetahui spesies cacing mikrofilaria, periodisitas mikrofilaria dan pemeriksaan reservoir serta mengevaluasi hasil kegiatan pengobatan massal yang sudah 3 kali dilakukan. Jumlah penduduk yang diperiksa sediaan darahnya untuk pemeriksaan mikrofilaria sebanyak 538 orang. Pengambilan darah untuk pemeriksaan periodisitas parasit dilakukan terhadap empat orang, masing-masing dilakukan pengambilan darah setiap 2 jam sekali selama 24 jam. Jumlah positif mikrofilaria sebanyak 8 orang dengan Mikrofilaria rate (Mf rate) 1,5%. Kepadatan mikrofilaria tertinggi 17,493 per 20 cu mm darah terjadi pada pukul 01.00 WIB dan menurun menjadi 0,415 pada pukul 07.00 WIB.Mikrofilaria bersifat sub periodik nokturna
