Abstract: Producer gas is one out of the alternative fuels used in internal combustion engines. Conventionally, it is made by flowing air and steam through a thick coal or coke bed which ranges in temperature from red hot to low temperature. The oxygen in air burns the carbon to CO2. This CO2 gets reduced to CO by contacting with carbon above the combustion zone. The freed oxygen combines with carbon and steam gets dissociated which introduces hydrogen. Producer gas has a high percentage of nitrogen since air is used [1]. Thus, in the present work a gasifier is designed and developed which could gasify any form of biomass. In the present work waste wood chips, bagasse, rice husk, and eucalyptus, etc are used for gasification in a fabricated updraft gasifier to produce producer gas. The producer gas obtained from the developed gasifier is sent along with air into a diesel engine with diesel as the primary fuel and the performance characteristics ie brake thermal efficiency, exhaust gas temperature and brake specific energy consumption of the engine are studied along with economic analysis with and without aid of producer gas.
Thermodynamic Performance Evaluation of Gas Turbine Based on Tri-generation System

Abstract: Thermodynamic analysis can be perfect tool for identifying the ways for improving the efficiency of fuel use, and determining the best configuration and equipment size for a Tri-generation plant. In this paper thermodynamic performance evaluation of gas turbine based on tri-generation system has been carried out. The operating parameter at inlet and outlet of each components involved in tri-generation system are determined. By using engineering equation solver (EES) parameters like enthalpy, entropy, exergy; etc are determined. The system performance parameters (first law, second law efficiency and exergy) are estimated with the help of these parameters. Parametric study has been done to investigate the effects of overall pressure ratio, turbine inlet temperature, and inlet air temperature on exergy destruction, first law efficiency, electrical to thermal energy ratio and second law efficiency of the components and overall system. The thermodynamic analysis shows the exergy destruction in combustion chamber and HRSG is significantly affected by the pressure ratio and TIT.
Balanites aegyptiaca (L.) Del. (Hingot): A review of its traditional uses, phytochemistry and pharmacological properties

Abstract: Balanites aegyptiaca is an evergreen, woody, true xerophytic tree of tremendous medicinal importance. It belongs to the family Balanitaceae and is distributed throughout the drier parts of India. B. aegyptiaca has been used in a variety of folk medicines in India and Asia. Various parts of the plant are used in Ayurvedic and other folk medicines for the treatment of different ailments such as syphilis, jaundice, liver and spleen problems, epilepsy, yellow fever and the plant also has insecticidal, antihelminthic, antifeedant, molluscicidal and contraceptive activities. Research has been carried out using different in vitro and in vivo techniques of biological evaluation to support most of these claims. This review presents the traditional uses, phytochemistry and pharmacological properties of this medicinal plant.
Urinary fluoride levels and prevalence of dental fluorosis in children of Jhajjar District, Haryana.

Abstract: A study was conducted in the Jhajjar district of Haryana to assess the fluoride excretion in the population exposed to environmental fluoride and efforts were being made to correlate the results with dental fluorosis. The mean fluoride concentration in drinking water samples of Bahadurgarh, Beri, Jhajjar, Matanhail and Sahalawas blocks of Jhajjar district were 2.05 mg/L, 2.14 mg/L, 2.05 mg/L, 2.14 mg/L and 1.93 mg/L respectively. The mean urinary fluoride concentration was 1.58 mg/L in Bahadurgarh, 1.48 in Beri, 1.50 in Jhajjar, 1.51 in Matanhail and 1.56 in Sahalawas. The mean prevalence of fluorosis on the basis of stage of dental fluorosis was highest of yellowish brown type and on the basis of TSIF score, score 4 type fluorosis was highest in most of the blocks of Jhajjar district. The study revealed that more than 50% of the individuals were found to be affected with flurosis in this district.

Abstract: Neonatal purpura fulminans is a rare, life-threatening condition of dermal microvascular thrombosis associated with DIC and perivascular hemorrhage in the newborn period associated with high morbidity and mortality [1]. Gram negative organisms and Staphylococcus species are the most common causes of the acute infectious type [2]. It may be congenital, as a result of protein C and S deficiency, or acquired due to severe infection. It is characterized by the rapid spread of symmetrical, bluish-black hemorrhages into the skin, affecting mainly the extensor surfaces of the extremities and showing a tendency to deep necrosis and the formation of sero-sanguineous bullae. The haemorrhagic areas are well defined and are surrounded by oedema. These lesions are accompanied by a high fever and intense systemic symptoms. A study of graft uptake rate of myringoplasties in Bir Hospital

Abstract: Chronic suppurative otitis media-tubotympanic type is one of the commonest ear diseases in the practice of otolaryngology. It mainly occurs in the people with poor socio-economic conditions hence, its magnitude is immense in remote areas of Nepal where poverty prevails the most and in people who do not have access to health facilities. The main features of this disease are ear discharge lasting more than three months, hearing loss, and perforation of the tympanic membrane. The aim of this study is to evaluate the graft uptake rate of patients who underwent Myringoplasties for Chronic Suppurative otitis media tubotympanic type. The total number of patients in the study was 129. Age of the patients varied from 13 to 45 years. Myringoplasties were performed on these patients. They were followed up at one week for stitch and ear pack removal, and then at four weeks to see for graft uptake. The graft uptake rate was found to be 81.4 %. There were no significant complications, except that few patients complained of pain at the site of incision for harvesting the graft. This study showed that myringoplasty has good success rate./7 and can be carried out safely for closure of tympanic membrane perforation in cases of chronic suppurative otitis media tubo-tympanic type. Disk-Jet Connection in the Microquasar GRS 1915+105 and IR and Radio Emission

Abstract: We present evidence of a direct accretion disk-jet connection in the Galactic microquasar GRS 1915+105 based on our analysis of RXTE/PCA data with a ``spike'' in X-ray light curves. We find that the radio emission increases as the hardness ratio increases during the low hard state. We suggest that the ``spike'' which separates the dips with hard and soft spectra marks the beginning of the burst phase when the luminosity of the soft X-rays (5-15 keV) increases by a large factor (~ 10). This produces a major ejection episode of the synchrotron - emitting plasma termed as ``baby jets'' which are associated with infrared (IR) and radio flares of about half an hour period widely reported in the literature. Subsequent short but frequent soft dips produce overlapping faint flares which result in an enhanced level of quasi-steady emission. We discuss the dissipation of accretion energy in the inner part of the disk in terms of a comptonising cloud and the escaping mass which produces synchrotron radiation. We discuss the differences between ``baby jets'' and relativistic radio jets and especially investigate their signatures in X-rays. Our results support the relativistic jet model with quasi-continuous mass ejection and strong variations in the jet speeds required for the formation of strong internal shocks to continuously accelerate the particles.
Power Enhancement of Gas Turbine Plant by Intake Air Fog Cooling

Abstract: Performance of gas turbine significantly depends upon the ambient air temperature and mass flow rate. During summer season the density of the air decreases which affects the mass flow rate and ultimately the power output of a gas turbine is reduced. In order to overcome this situation several techniques are already in the practice and one of the most effective and economical is adopting the inlet fog cooling which basically enhances the power output of the machine. The cooling of ambient air by fog cooling up to wet bulb temperature increases the mass flow rate on account of increase in air density, as a result it ultimately increases the power output of a gas turbine. Fogging is applied with consideration of relative humidity of ambient air not only during summer season but also during dry days of summer season in order to increase the power output of gas turbine. This paper describes the effect on percentage enhancement of power output adopting various fuel options with low and high humidity ambient conditions. The results indicate the potential increase in the power output up to 14 20It is also observed that the total cost of power production increases due to increase in fuel consumption on account of enhanced power output. Thus, the optimum operating parameters are required for taking advantage of power augmentation ensuring that it does not lead to excessive increase in fuel cost.
Immunisation Status Of Pregnant Women In Bihar

Abstract: Research Question: What is the coverage level of immunization and other maternal services by a modified technique developed by IRMS (ICMR) Delhi in comparison to standard WHO technique. Objectives: To study the a€"Coverage level for immunization, antenatal care and IFA tablets a€"Relationship of caste and education with the coverage levels. a€"Place and persons conducting deliveries. Study design: Cross-sectional. Setting: Both in rural and urban areas of Bihar. Participants: 375 mothers having children up to one year of age selected by a stratified random sampling technique developed by IRMS Delhi. Study variables: Immunisation status, antenatal care, Use of IFA tabs, Education of the female, Education of husband, place and person conducting the delivery. Statistical analysis: Proportions. Results: Overall immunization coverage was 42% for pregnant females. Coverage was high (60%) in urban areas compared to rural areas (40%). Coverage was low among females from SC/ST category, also when females and their husbands were illiterates. Similar trend was observed for antenatal care and IFA tabs. 90% deliveries took place at home and were mainly attended by village dais. Majority of mothers received immunization from some. Govt. agency lack of, awareness and lack of motivation were more commonly found as reasons for non-immunisation among SC/ST as compared to others. Lack of awareness was also found as a common reason for non-immunisation among illiterate females.
