An Inventory Model for Ramp-Type Demand with Two-Level Trade Credit Financing Linked to Order Quantity  [PDF]

Abstract: In the traditional economic order quantity (EOQ) model, it is assumed that the demand rate is constant. Thereafter, many researchers developed inventory model with time-varying demand to reflect sales in different phases of product life cycle in the market. However, in practice, especially for fashionable and high-tech product, the demand rate during the growth stages of its life cycle increases significantly with linear or exponential in the growth stage and then gradually stabilizes, and remains near constant in the maturity stage. It can be taken a ramp-type demand rate into account. Furthermore, in today’s supply chain, a supplier usually offers a permissible delay in payment to retailers to encourage them to buy more products, and a retailer in turn provides a downstream trade-credit period to its customers. Therefore, this paper focus on 1) ramp-type demand rate and 2) the upstream and downstream trade credit financing linked to order quantity for retailer is considered. The objective is to find the optimal replenishment cycle and order quantity to keep the total relevant cost per unit time as minimum as possible. The study shows that in each case discussed, the optimal solution not only exists but also is unique. Numerical examples are provided to illustrate the proposed model. Finally, some relevant managerial insights based on the results are characterized.

Abstract: The city acts as political, culture, and economic center, with fast development of chain business, e-commerce, and other modern trade industries and urban advance of rural integration’s process, the consumption scale and category of fresh agricultural constantly grow, and it must raise urgent needs of city cold chain logistics, while also cause huge of traffic pressure, which makes contradictions between external uneconomic nature of city distribution and the sustainability of city economic development more explicit. Fresh agricultural products are necessities to urban residents, and it is basic guarantee of urban life stability to build a perfect cold chain logistics system for fresh agricultural products, it is also basic conditions supporting the development of the city. This article studies on cold chain logistics system for fresh agricultural products and analyzes the situation of the city-oriented cold chain logistics system for fresh agricultural products, and its development trend.

Abstract: With regard to a wireless sensor network, organizing sensors into a hierarchy of clusters with an objective of minimizing the total spent energy to communicate the information gathered by sensors to the information-processing center, rough set theory can serve as a useful pre-processing tool, removing superfluous attributes and suggesting validated rules and models on an objective and global basis, i.e., without any tuning for this particular application. Actually, data management for the WSN is very complex and there is wide scope for further research on intelligent data collection and dynamic reduction in this area so as to make the schemas more applicable. This study discusse the distance learning algorithm DLA (distance learning algorithm) to achieve, as well as it s the modern teaching of universal significance. Inductive learning is a research area in Artificial Intelligence. It has been used to mode1 the knowledge of human experts by using a carefully chosen sample of expert decisions to infer decision rules. Rough set based inductive learning uses rough set.
Effect of electroacupuncture and diet adjusting on insulin resistance in rats with nutrition obesity

Abstract: Objective: To study the effects of electroacupuncture and diet adjusting on insulin resistance in rats with nutrition obesity, and the role of electroacupuncture and diet adjusting in the treatment of obesity.Methods: Obesity was induced in rats by high-fat diet. Rats with nutrition obesity were randomly divided into high-fat diet (HD) group, high-fat diet plus electroacupuncture (HA) group, normal diet (ND) group and normal diet plus electroacupuncture (NA) group, with another group of SD rats as normal control (NC). After 15 days, all the rats' body weight and length were measured, the Lee's index was calculated, and the levels of total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), free fatty acid (FFA), fasting plasma glucose (FPG), fasting insulin (FINS) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) were detected.Results: Compared with the HD group, food intake, body weight and viscera fat weight of the rats with nutrition obesity in the HA group and the NA group were markedly reduced (P<0.05). The levels of blood serum TC, FFA and IR index in the NA group were obviously lower than those in the HD group (P<0.01). The levels of TNF-α and FINS in the NA group were lower than those in the HD group (P<0.05).Conclusion: Electroacupuncture plus diet adjusting can decrease the levels of serum TNF-α and FINS of the obesity rats, and improve the state of insulin resistance
An ICME Approach for Optimizing Thin-Welded Structure Design  [PDF]

Abstract: Integrated computational materials engineering (ICME) is an emerging discipline that can speed up product development by unifying material, design, fabrication, and computational power in a virtual environment. Developing and adapting ICME in industries is a grand challenge technically and culturally. To help develop a strategy for development of this new technology area, an ICME approach was proposed and implemented in optimizing thin welded structure design. The key component in this approach is a database which includes material properties, static strength, impact strength, and failure parameters for a weld. The heat source models, microstructure model, and thermo-mechanical model involved in ICME for welding simulation were discussed. The shell elements representing method for a fusion weld were introduced in details for a butt joint, lap joint, and a Tee joint. Using one or multiple solid elements representing a spot weld in a shell model was also discussed. Database building methods for resistance spot welding and fusion welding have been developed.

Factors of quality and safety of agricultural products run throughout the agricultural products from production to processing, packaging, storage, transportation and sales. For ensuring the safety of agricultural products, establishing full traceable system covering production, processing and distribution are particularly important. Based on the analysis of the connotation of the cold chain logistics system of agricultural products, this article analyzes cold chain logistics traceable system’s framework and key elements, and further puts forward the path choice of cold chain logistics traceable system's implementation for agricultural products.
Return Predictability and Strategic Trading under Symmetric Information  [PDF]

Abstract: This paper develops a rational equilibrium model of strategic trading under symmetric information in which there is a liquidity provider and a strategic trader. The strategic trader considers the impact of his trades, the liquidity provider sets the stock price competitively, and there is a possibility that the value of the stock payoff will be revealed perfectly before the terminal date. Under certain conditions, we find that a buy (sale)-order by the strategic trader leads to positive (negative) stock returns in the future and that there exists a positive contemporaneous relationship between the stock return and the trades of the strategic trader. Under other conditions, we demonstrate that the stock exhibits positive (negative) returns following buying (selling) by the liquidity provider. We then introduce a trend chaser into the rational model. If trend chasing is weak, we show that the mechanical trend chaser can actually make a profit. If trend chasing is strong, the strategic trader is able to raise the stock prices by buying initially to attract the trend chaser and sells to the trend chaser later for profits.

An Integrated Analysis of Aberrantly Expressed miRNA and mRNA Profiles Unveils a Robust Regulatory Network in HepG2 Cell  [PDF]

As crucial negative regulatory small non-coding molecules, microRNAs (miRNAs), have multiple biological roles. The abnormal expression of specific miRNAs may contribute to the occurrence and development of tumor. Here, based on HepG2 and L02 cells, we attempted to demonstrate the potential regulatory network of aberrantly expressed miRNA profiles, interaction between miRNA and mRNA, and potential functional correlation between different miRNAs. De-regulated miRNA and mRNA expression profiles were completely surveyed and identified by applying deep sequenc-ing and microarray techniques, respectively. The genome-wide and integrative analysis of miRNA-mRNA was performed based on their functional relationship according to experimentally validated and predicted targets. Nearly 50% targets were negatively regulated by at least 2 aberrantly expressed miRNAs. Similar results were obtained based on experimentally validated and predicted targets. Compared with abnormal miRNAs, their targets showed various expression patterns: stably expressed, down-regulated or up-regulated. Although the theoretical potential miRNA-mRNA interaction could be predicted, they showed consistent or inconsistent expression patterns. Both functional enrichment analysis of target mRNAs of dysregulated miRNAs and abnormal mRNA profiles suggested that corresponding pathways were involved in tumorigenesis. Moreover, to obtain potential functional relationships between different miRNAs, we also performed expression analysis of homologous miRNAs in gene families. Generally, they could co-regulate biological processes with similar roles. The integrative analysis of miRNA-mRNA indicated a complex and flexible regulatory network. The robust network mainly derived from multiple targets for a specific miRNA (and vice versa), each mRNA and co-regulation roles of different miRNAs.
