Abstract: DNA present in ancient samples can be recovered,amplified and analysed.It opens a new window for genetic analysis in many different disciplines,such as anthropology,archaeology,human population genetics,animal and plant evolutionary taxonomy and forensic science.In general,ancient DNA is rare in quantity,damaged in quality.To ensure the reproducibility and reliability of the results,great cares should be taken,such as various measurements against contamination and phylogenetic analysis of ancient DNA sequences.In this paper we review recovery,amplification and analysis of ancient DNA,also discuss the guidelines to ensure the authenticity of ancient DNA and the recent advances in ancient DNA study.

Abstract: Classic Sobel algorithm is commonly used in edge detection. However, it has detected a lot of noise points and created broken license plate characters, which increased the difficulty of extracting license plate and characters, recognition, and reduced the accuracy of license plate location. In this paper, Sobel algorithm has been improved for license plate recognition system. The improved Sobel algorithm has achieved good results of license plate location and it has good anti-interference capability. And it can maintain the integrity of the characters to a large extent.
Analysis and Design of a 3rd Order Velocity-Controlled Closed-Loop for MEMS Vibratory Gyroscopes

Abstract: The time-average method currently available is limited to analyzing the specific performance of the automatic gain control-proportional and integral (AGC-PI) based velocity-controlled closed-loop in a micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) vibratory gyroscope, since it is hard to solve nonlinear functions in the time domain when the control loop reaches to 3rd order. In this paper, we propose a linearization design approach to overcome this limitation by establishing a 3rd order linear model of the control loop and transferring the analysis to the frequency domain. Order reduction is applied on the built linear model’s transfer function by constructing a zero-pole doublet, and therefore mathematical expression of each control loop’s performance specification is obtained. Then an optimization methodology is summarized, which reveals that a robust, stable and swift control loop can be achieved by carefully selecting the system parameters following a priority order. Closed-loop drive circuits are designed and implemented using 0.35 μm complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) process, and experiments carried out on a gyroscope prototype verify the optimization methodology that an optimized stability of the control loop can be achieved by constructing the zero-pole doublet, and disturbance rejection capability (D.R.C) of the control loop can be improved by increasing the integral term.
Three-Dimensional Phase Field Simulations of Hysteresis and Butterfly Loops by Finite Volume Method

Abstract: Three-dimensional (3D) simulations of ferroelectric hysteresis and butterfly loops have been carried out based on solving the time dependent Ginsburg-Landau equations by using a finite volume method. The influence of externally mechanical loadings with a tensile strain and a compressive strain on the hysteresis and butterfly loops has been studied numerically. The 3D ferroelectric domain formation and its evolution have also been presented in the paper. The simulation results successfully reveal the macroscopically nonlinear response to the applied stresses and electric field.
