A Multifactorial Mechanism in the Superior Antimalarial Activity of -C-GalCer

Abstract: We have previously shown that the C-glycoside analog of -galactosylceramide (-GalCer), -C-GalCer, displays a superior inhibitory activity against the liver stages of the rodent malaria parasite Plasmodium yoelii than its parental glycolipid, -GalCer. In this study, we demonstrate that NK cells, as well as IL-12, are a key contributor for the superior activity displayed by -C-GalCer. Surprisingly, the diminished production of Th2 cytokines, including IL-4, by -C-GalCer has no affect on its superior therapeutic activity relative to -GalCer. Finally, we show that the in vivo administration of -C-GalCer induces prolonged maturation of dendritic cells (DCs), as well as an enhanced proliferative response of mouse invariant V14 (V14i) NKT cells, both of which may also contribute to some degree to the superior activity of -C-GalCer in vivo.
Abundance and community of snow bacteria from three glaciers in the Tibetan Plateau

Abstract: Bacterial abundance and diversity in snow of East Rongbuk, Laohugou and Hailuogou glaciers on the Tibetan Plateau were investigated through epifluorescence microscope and denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis. Cell abundance ranged from 4.0 103 to 290.2 103 cells/mL. The phylogenetic trees placed the 16S rRNA sequences in four major groups: Proteobacteria, Firmicutes, Actinobacteria and Bacteroidetes. Brevundimonas, Flavobacterium, Hymenobacter, Bacillus, Polaromonas, Rhodoferax and Streptomyces were widely distributed bacteria in glaciers from di erent cold regions. The remaining five genera of Hylemonella, Delftia, Zoogloea, Blastococcus and Rhodococcus were endemism, only recovered from our investigated glaciers. It is proposed that the three glaciers on the Tibetan Plateau provide a specific ecological niche for prolonging survival of diverse microbial lineages.
A Reconfigurable Stacked Patch Antenna for Wireless Power Transfer and Data Telemetry in Sensors

Abstract: A reconfigurable stacked patch antenna is introduced for wireless power reception and data telemetry application in sensors. The proposed antenna operates at 5.8 GHz with 9.4 dBi gain and 7.6% bandwidth. At a lower frequency 2.45 GHz the antenna operates as a planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) with 3.3 dBi gain and 2% bandwidth. Switching between the two regimes of operation is achieved using PIN diodes. It is proposed that the antenna can be used for wireless power reception in sensors at 5.8 GHz and for data telemetry in between a sensor and a control station at 2.45 GHz. The wireless power reception ability of this antenna was tested and verified by developing a high efficiency schottky diode rectifying circuit. The RF-to-DC conversion efficiency was 85% for an input power density level of 1 mW/cm.
Research and Application of the Property of Conductive Knitted Fabrics

Abstract: Traditional knitted fabrics have been extensively applied in dresses and home decoration, and in recent years, the applications of the fabrics knitted by new technologies and new materials also increase in other fields. The conductive fiber knitted fabrics was used in the article, and its electric properties under transverse stretching were tested and researched. Based on the electric model of 1×1 rib fabrics, the silver-coasted conductive yarns were adopted to knit the conductive fabrics, and the stretching test was conducted, and the relationship between stretching and resistance was primarily analyzed. Then, a product prototype, an electronic organ with force sensitive keyboard was designed. The test result reveals that it works well.
Research on the Technologies of Instant Messaging Software Detection

Abstract: In order to solve the security problems of instant messaging, a new Instant Messaging Software (IMS) intrusion detection method has been proposed in this paper. Intrusion Detection is an important component of the security of the Network,through the critical information of the network and host system, it can determine the user’s invasion of illegal and legal acts of the user misuse of resources and make an adequate response.Instant messaging software provides a platform for the communication of information. It’s convenient for people to communicate, at the same time enterprises and institutions, companies, families; local area network has security implications. Such as access to user's personal information and the company's trade secrets; dissemination of pornography, reactionary remarks; provide attack corridors for Trojans and worms. Therefore, study the detection and blocking techniques of instant messaging software to protect the security of local area network has great application value. According to the detection method of IMS, detection and blocking architecture of IMS is presented and developed at the Windows platform. The rule base store in the configuration file, users can add their own IMS, detection and blocking the rules, users can also add other applications, features, so that the system has better scalability and practicality.
A New Triterpene from the Plant of Uncaria Macrophylla

Abstract: Our ongoing investigations on the stem bark of Uncaria macrophylla afforded a new ursolic triterpene, 3β,6β,19α-trihydroxy-urs-12-en-28-oic acid-24-carboxylic acid methyl ester (1), named uncariursanic acid, and three known ursolic triterpenes including 3β,6β,19α-trihydroxy-23-oxo-urs-12-en-28-oic acid (2), 3β,6β,19α-trihydroxy-urs-12-en-28-oic acid (3) and ursolic acid (4). Their structures were elucidated by extensive spectral methods, including 1D and 2D NMR and HR-ESI-MS. The cytotoxicities of the four compounds were evaluated against two cancer cell lines (MCF-7 and HepG2) by the MTT method, and only compound 4 exhibited potent activity.

Abstract: On our ongoing investigation, a new oleanolic triterpene, 3β,6β,19α-trihydroxy-12-oleanen-28-oic acid (1) was obtained from the chloroform-soluble portion of the 90% alcohol-water extract of the stem bark of Uncaria macrophylla. Its structure was elucidated by extensive spectroscopic methods, including 1D and 2D (1H-1H COSY, HSQC and HMBC) NMR and HR-ESI-MS. The cytotoxicities of the compound was evaluated against two cancer cell lines of MCF-7 and HepG2 by the MTT method, and the compound exhibited weak activities with the IC50 values of 78.2 μg/mL and 73.9 μg/mL.
Corrections to the IAU 1976 precession constant and the coefficients of the IAU 1980 nutation series from VLBI observations

Abstract: In the aspect of examination by observations and based on a longer data span and improved precision of very-long baseline interferometry observations, the corrections to the IAU 1976 precession constant and the coefficients of IAU 1980 nutation series are solved. The corrections to coefficients of long periodic terms, the detection of the retrograde free core nutation, and the poesible relation between the corrections to coefficients of the prograde annual term and the enviromental temperature are also briefly discussed.
An analysis of the polar motion series from VLBI observations

Abstract: From the reduction of 2893 globally distributed astrometric and geodetic VLBI sessions from August 1979 to the end of 1998, coordinates of 722 radio sources at J2000.0, coordinates and velocities of 128 stations at J1997.0 and about 20 years Earth Orientation Parameters were estimated. From the analysis of the resultant polar motion series, the following are demonstrated: (i) During the VLBI data span the Markowitz wobble is not exhibited. (ii) The amplitudes of both annual and Chandler wobble show temporal variations, with the former being more obvious than the latter. (iii) Wavelet analysis shows that all the signals in the polar motion series are characterized by temporal variation in amplitudes. If we take any signal as strictly periodic, it is impossible to remove it completely from the polar motion series by least-squares fit because the hypothesis of a constant amplitude conflicts with VLBI measurements. (iv) By applying a filter, the secular polar motion was found to be (2.74 ± 0.01) masla towards (83.9 ± 0.3) ° W longitude, which is smaller in rate and more westward in direction compared with those determined from optical observations or the combination of optical and space geodetic observations.
The Application of BP Artificial Neural Network in Fabric Warmth Retention Test

Abstract: The fabric warmth retention test is a complex process that is influenced by various factors, so errors often appear in the test. There lies a function relation between the fabric thickness, gram weight and warmth retention rate, CLO value. Artificial neural network BP algorithm was used to simulate the function mapping relation, and realized the automatic mapping from basic performance to warmth retention performance, and exhibited high mapping precision, it could also be used to amend the numerical value and reduce errors. It is demonstrated that the method is of high efficiency.
