The Influence of Density and a Partially Shadowed Layer on the Behaviour and Welfare of Broiler Breeders in Battery Cages During Laying

Abstract: This study compared the behavioural differences of broiler breeders reared under two different densities (Singly-caged: 1 600 cm2 per hen; Paired: 800 cm2 per hen),and in shadowed cages with a half-covering layer on their tops versus controls in order to evaluate the laying preferences of the species in dark versus light regions. The results showed that singly-caged broiler breeders displayed turn-around and head-scratch behaviours more than paired breeders,while singly-caged breeders presented wing-flap behaviours less than paired breeders. Single and paired breeders spent both more time eating in cages which were partially covered than those in control cages. Singly-caged breeders were more likely to lay in the dark region in shadowed cages than paired breeders. These results suggested that broiler breeders exhibited normal behaviours more often when raised in a larger living space and in shadowed cages. Although stocking density has more impact on behaviour and welfare for broiler layers than light environment,being shadowed can reduce overcrowding effect and may alleviate the worse welfare appearance for caged broiler breeders.

Abstract: This paper described the concept of Aspect Oriented Programming(AOP) and its advantages of solving crosscutting concerns, discussed its application in the field of program condition visualization and presented an example of program condition visualization in the program of Evaluation of Expression by using AOP technology. The function of program condition visualization usually appears as crosscutting concern. Compared with Object Oriented Programming(OOP)technology, AOP technology provides a more loose-couple approach to modularize crosscutting concerns.
Contribution of Dopamine D1/5 Receptor Modulation of Post-Spike/Burst Afterhyperpolarization to Enhance Neuronal Excitability of Layer V Pyramidal Neurons in Prepubertal Rat Prefrontal Cortex

Abstract: Dopamine (DA) receptors in the prefrontal cortex (PFC) modulate both synaptic and intrinsic plasticity that may contribute to cognitive processing. However, the ionic basis underlying DA actions to enhance neuronal plasticity in PFC remains ill-defined. Using whole-cell patch-clamp recordings in layer V-VI pyramidal cells in prepubertal rat PFC, we showed that DA, via activation of D1/5, but not D2/3/4, receptors suppress a Ca2+-dependent, apamin-sensitive K+ channel that mediates post-spike/burst afterhyperpolarization (AHP) to enhance neuronal excitability of PFC neurons. This inhibition is not dependent on HCN channels. The D1/5 receptor activation also enhanced an afterdepolarizing potential (ADP) that follows the AHP. Additional single-spike analyses revealed that DA or D1/5 receptor activation suppressed the apamin-sensitive post-spike mAHP, further contributing to the increase in evoked spike firing to enhance the neuronal excitability. Taken together, the D1/5 receptor modulates intrinsic mechanisms that amplify a long depolarizing input to sustain spike firing outputs in pyramidal PFC neurons.
Different imaging findings of inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor of the liver

Abstract: Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) in the liver is an uncommon lesion of uncertain pathogenesis. In most cases, symptomatological imaging and clinical studies suggest malignancy. We report a case of liver IMT with imaging findings from positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT), contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) and contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS). This report was the first to depict a PET/CT scan of a liver IMT that revealed an inhomogeneous, intense (fluorine 18)-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose uptake. The CECT and CEUS images showed a hepatic artery supplying blood to the mass and necrosis. The characteristic histopathological features and the presence of spindle cells expressing smooth muscle actin, collagen fibers and lymphocytes allowed for the diagnosis of liver IMT. Recognizing such findings will help to achieve a correct diagnosis and may prevent inappropriate treatment.

Abstract: 选择内蒙古赤峰市东郊的羊场对自然通风羊舍进行了冬季环境测试和分析。结果表明,夜间舍内平均温度为-2.8~1.2℃,平均相对湿度64.5%~73.5%;舍内的温湿度随舍外温湿度的变化而变化,但舍内温度比舍外高9~12℃,舍温平稳,舍内温差显著小于舍外;同时舍内风速、CO2、NH3浓度的测试表明,舍内空气质量在羊的适宜范围之内。不同朝向的羊舍舍内温、湿度有显著差异,南向羊舍舍温一般较东向羊舍高2~3℃;羊舍夜间全封闭时舍温一般比北窗敞开时高2~4℃。内蒙古地区采用自然通风羊舍,可在一定程度上改善羊只的饲养环境条件,减轻冬季严寒对养羊业造成的危害,但无任何供暖设备的羊舍尚不能完全满足冬季产羔的需求。
Ultrasonic Elastography Features of Phyllodes Tumors of the Breast: A Clinical Research

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to analyze the ultrasonic elastography features of phyllodes tumors of the breast comparing with fibroadenomas. A retrospective database was queried for the patients diagnosed as phyllodes tumors and fibroadenomas at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital from January 2008 to August 2012. Three hundred and fifty lesions from 323 consecutive patients were included in the study. All the cases were examined by conventional ultrasonography and ultrasound elastography. Ultrasound elastography was used to calculate strain ratio of the lesions with bilateral breast tissue at the same depth as reference. There were 36 phyllodes tumors (27 benign, 8 borderline, 1 malignant) and 314 fibroadenomas (158 the pericanalicular type, 103 the intracanalicular type, 53 other special types). The strain ratio for phyllodes tumors (3.19±2.33) was significantly higher than for fibroadenomas (1.69±0.88) (p<0.05). The Spearman.s correlation coefficient between strain ratio of ultrasound elastography and pathological groups was significant, with a value of 0.17 (p<0.05). Ultrasound elastography could provide additional information to differentiate phyllodes tumors from fibroadenoma in breast.
拟南芥同源四倍体减数分裂过程的分子细胞学分析

Abstract: 以拟南芥(Columbia生态型)二倍体(AA,2n=10)为材料,经0.2%秋水仙素处理和细胞学鉴定,成功获得拟南芥同源四倍体(AAAA,2n=20)。以二倍体为对照,通过对拟南芥同源四倍体减数分裂过程染色体行为的观察,以及减数分裂调控同源染色体联会与重组相关基因的定量PCR分析,研究结果表明,与二倍体相比,拟南芥同源四倍体叶片表皮细胞间气孔孔径显著增大,荚果变长,但气孔密度和结实率显著降低;在减数分裂过程中出现部分单价体和三价体,以及二价体和四价体等染色体配对构型;减数分裂期重组相关基因ZYP1表达水平降低,ASY1、DMC1、MRE11和SPO11-1表达水平均升高。因此,我们推断,伴随着多倍体化,与二倍体相比,多倍体植物减数分裂期染色体行为和相关基因表达都有一定改变,影响多倍体植物生殖发育以适应环境。
Protein synthesis is essential not only for consolidation but also for maintenance and post-retrieval reconsolidation of acrobatic motor skill in rats

Abstract: It is known that consolidation and post-retrieval reconsolidation of hippocampus- or amygdala-dependent memories requires new protein synthesis [1-5]. Previous studies suggest that acquisition or consolidation of motor skills also requires protein synthesis [6,7]. For example, local infusion of anisomycin, a widely-used protein synthesis inhibitor, into the motor cortex immediately after training severely impaired the ability of rats to learn a reaching task [6]. Pre-training intra-peritoneal administration of cycloheximide, a relatively new protein synthesis inhibitor, blocked the between-session improvement of performance on an acrobatic motor skill [7].Practice-induced improvement of motor skill occurs within and between training sessions [8-10], reflecting that there are two temporal phases for motor skill acquisition: one is fast and the other is slow [9]. As described above, acquisition or consolidation of motor skills requires new protein synthesis. However, it is unclear if maintenance and post-activation reconsolidation of motor skills also requires protein synthesis. To address this question, we investigated the effects of protein synthesis inhibition (PSI) on the consolidation, maintenance and reconsolidation of an acrobatic motor skill in rats running on a rotating rod. It has been reported that intra-ventricle infusion of anisomycin with a dose of 100 μg/μl produces > 90% PSI in the brain at 10 min post-infusion and this inhibition lasts about one hour, indicating a narrow time window for anisomycin to produce effect [1]. Thus, we selected the 100 μg/μl dose of anisomycin for intra-ventricle administration to evaluate the impacts of global PSI in the brain on the rotarod-running skill.We first investigated the impact of PSI on the consolidation of the rotarod-running skill. β-Adrenergic activation enhances NMDA-induced current in pyramidal cells of the basolateral nucleus of amygdala

Abstract: NMDA receptor (NMDA-R) in the amygdala complex is critical for both long-term potentiation (LTP) and formation of conditioned fear memory. It is reported that activation of β-adrenoceptors (β-AR) in the amygdala facilitates LTP and enhances memory consolidation. The present study examined the regulatory effect of β-AR activation on NMDA-R mediated current in pyramidal cells of the basolateral nucleus of amygdala (BLA), using whole-cell recording technique. Bath application of the β-AR agonist isoproterenol enhanced NMDA-induced current, and this facilitatory effect was blocked by co-administered propranolol, a β-AR antagonist. The facilitatory effect of isoproterenol on NMDA-induced current could not be induced when the protein kinase A (PKA) inhibitor Rp-cAMPs was added in electrode internal solution. The present results suggest that β-AR activation in the BLA could modulate NMDA-R activity directly and positively, probably via PKA.
