Changes of tongue and pulse parameters in 50 lung cancer patients treated with integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine

Abstract: Objective: To observe the changes of tongue and pulse parameters in lung cancer patients after combined treatment with integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine, and to probe into the application of the tongue and pulse parameters in evaluation of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine therapy on lung cancer patients.Methods: Electropulsograms and tongue pictures of 50 lung cancer patients were examined by TP-Ⅰ digital electropulsography. The tongue and pulse parameters of the patients, including the indexes of moistness and dryness, thinness and thickness, fissure, swollenness and emaciation, greasiness and likeness of curd, and power spectral ratios (PSRs) 1, 2, 3, 4 and cepstrum spectral ratios (CSRs) 1, 2, 3, 4, were observed after 1- and 2-month treatment with Yifei Kangliu Oral Liquid (a compound traditional Chinese herbal medicine) plus chemotherapy, respectively. The above parameters of the lung cancer patients were compared before and after the treatment.Results: PSR1 increased, while PSR2 decreased significantly after 1- and 2-month treatment as compared with before treatment (P<0.05). PSR1 decreased, while PSR2 increased after 2-month treatment as compared with after 1-month treatment (P<0.05). PSR4 after 1-month treatment was lower than before treatment (P<0.05). The tongue parameters including the indexes of moistness and dryness, and greasiness and likeness of curd increased significantly after 1- and 2-month treatment as compared with before treatment (P<0.05). The index of thinness and thickness decreased, while the index of fissure increased significantly after 1-month treatment as compared with before treatment (P<0.05).Conclusion: Tongue and pulse parameters can be regarded as one of reference indexes in evaluation of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine therapy on lung cancer patients.

Abstract: This paper studies the critical behaviours and magnetic properties of three-dimensional bond and anisotropy dilution Blume--Capel model (BCM) in the presence of an applied field within the effective field theory. The trajectory of tricritical point, reentrant transitions and degenerate patterns of anisotropy are obtained both for the bond and the anisotropy dilutions. The global phase diagrams demonstrate unusually reentrant phenomena. The temperature dependences of magnetization curves undergo remarkable spin glass behaviour at low temperatures, and transform from ferromagnetism to paramagnetism at high temperature in applied fields. Temperature dependence of magnetic susceptibility curve is in qualitative agreement with experimental result.

Abstract: A algorithm based on percentile morphological transform and local entropy was proposed for edge detecting. This method selecting percentile morphological transform values were decided by structure size and structure type which were used on percentile morphological transform, in order to minimize the local entropy of local area. Experiment results show that, compared with the traditional edge detecting method, this method enhances the edge and decreases the noise.
Study of Generalized Resonance in Multi-Antenna System and Generalized Foster Reactance Theorem

Abstract: This paper begins with a complete description of the complex Poynting theorem, followed by a rigorous study of the generalized resonance in a multi-antenna system. The condition generating the generalized resonance is discussed, which is the balance of the electromagnetic fields energy stored in the antennas open system. The matrix expression of the generalized resonant factor (GRF) is derived. On this basis, the generalized Foster reactance theorem for an arbitrary antenna system is presented and radiation Q is used to further describe the generalized resonance behaviors. Some practical examples have shown that the generalized resonance may take on the phenomena of strong and sharp fields in the near zone and super-directivity in the far zone of the antenna system.

Abstract: As a chronic inflammatory disease of the liver, the pa-thogenic mechanisms of autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) have not yet been elucidated, with prognosis and diagnosis remaining unsatisfied. Currently the only viable treatments of AIH are immunosuppressant application and liver transplantation. It is considered that lack of good animal AIH models is the main reason for the shortage of a simple and efficient cure. The Concanavalin A (Con A) model is a typical and well established model for investigating T-cell and macrophage dependent liver injury in mice, which closely mimics the pathogenesis mechanisms and pathological changes of patients, and is regarded as the best experimental model for AIH research so far. In this paper we elucidated the pathogenic mechanisms of AIH and the evolution of relative animal models. We go on to further focus on Con A-induced liver injury from the point of immunological mechanisms and the change of cytokine levels. Finally, we manifested the clinical significance of the AIH animal models and the challenges they would meet during their future development.
Influence of single leaf Asarum himalaicum on renal function of rabbits

Abstract: Objective: To study the influence of single leaf Asarum himalaicum on the renal function of rabbits. Methods: Rabbits were divided into three groups. Asarum himalaicum, Asarum heterotropoides and normal saline were intravenously administered to the rabbits of one group respectively. The urine volume per minute, urine pH, urine glucose, protein and red blood cells, BUN, SCr, TXB2, 6-keto-PGF1α, TXB2/6-keto-PGF1α, endothelin, p-aminohippuric acid clearance rate and phenolsulfonphthalein excretion rate were tested before and after the administration. Results: A certain dosage of single leaf Asarum himalaicum caused acute renal failure in rabbits. The indices tested were significantly diffrent between rabbits administered Asarum himalaicum and normal saline.As compared with the rabbits administered Asarum heterotropoides,the results of indices tested decreased, but without statistical significance, except for SCr. Conclusion: The single leaf Asarum himalaicum can cause renal damage to rabbits.Its renal toxicity is lower that that of Asarum heterotropoides.
