Benefaction from Carbonation of Flue Gas CO2 as Coal Mining Filling  [PDF]

Abstract: CO2 capturing, transport and sequestration by pressurized water dissolution and reacting by natural alkali lime and magnesia in coal fly ash or other sources become an industrial advantageous sequestration option resulting in green waste solutions or solid fines. Mg and Ca containing minerals are reacting with CO2 to form carbonates. Various types of fly ash materials may react with CO2 to form carbonate regarding ash composition and reaction parameters. Mineral sequestration of CO2 will also allow using the products in cement industry or as cement material in constructions with low cost. This paper discussed progress on coal mining filling by carbonation method using coal fly ash of Soma, Yatagan, Afsin Elbistan Power Stations. Other filler materials containing coal mine waste shale, fly ashes and foam concrete, and additives were searched for pretreatment methods to enhance cement reactivity; and in analyzing the structural changes to identify reaction paths and potential barriers.

Abstract: Sirnak City and the surrounding areas are on steeper slopes. There are sliding large land masses or rocks. Underground water and harsh climatic conditions contain high risk hazard areas in urban living site with higher population density. In order to eliminate landslides and related events, significant precautions should be taken. The mapping of landslide risk may ease to take precautions. Even the application of landfill rock may reduce water content of soil. In this research, fly ash and Mine Waste shale stone were used with low density foam concrete. Waste mixture at certain proportions decreased cement use. Shale stone as fine aggregate instead of fly ash in specific proportions improved mechanical strength and porosity. Hence landslide hazardous area could be safer for urban living.

Abstract: Post-traumatic Stress disorder (PTSD) consists of a pattern of symptoms that include cognitive, affective, sensory and behavioral systems. In PTSD, the individual experiences disturbing emotions and sensations such as anxiety, panic, depression, anger, tension, high startle response and hypervigilance as a result of reexperiencing traumatic memories, flashbacks, attention difficulties, memory loss, nightmares and intrusive thoughts. The cognitive approach asserts that cognitions play a triggering and maintaining role for these symptoms and tries to explain them with the information processing framework. According to this approach, the traumatic event that is experienced is processed differently from daily, ordinary events. This different information processing strategy stands out in attention, memory, dissociation, cognitive beliefs, cognition-affect processes and coping strategies. In the present paper, research on how these constructs that are parts of the information processing in cognitive systems function in PTSD will be reviewed.

Abstract: In this experimental study, the laser light was split and bended using a specially designed glass lenses at the same time. This process has been done at the atmospheric pressure and room temperature conditions. During the experiments, the semiconductor laser as a source of green and red laser diode is used. In addition, polari- zation, magnetic field, electric field or any other auxiliary materials and systems which affect laser light are not used to bend the laser light. Only transparent glass lenses that are designed specially are used in the experimental study.

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to optimize the mass of 1.5 MW wind turbine steel tower performing Genetic Algorithm method (GA). In accordance with ASCE 7-98, AISC-89 and IEC61400-1 , the impact of loads on tower is calculated within the highest safety conditions against buckling strength of each sections of tower by means of GA codes. The stifness along tower is ensured entirely while the mass of tower is mitigated and optimized.

Abstract:

In this study, the emulsion homopolymerization system containing vinyl acetate, potassium persulfate, a new cationic polymeric surfactant and water was studied by the applying semi-continuous emulsion polymerization process. The effects of new polymeric emulsifier on the physicochemical properties of obtained vinyl acetate latexes were investigated depending on vinyl acetate percentage in the polymerization recipe, and two thermal initiators in homopolymerization.

Abstract: This study has been conducted with the purpose of determining the hydroelectric potential that can be utilized by Cine dam which will be constructed for irrigation, overflow control and for energy production purposes on the Cine stream (which is located as an important arm of Büyük Menderes River in Turkey). The study will also compare other research conducted by various organizations. In order to determine the hydroelectric energy potential, the SIMAHPP 4 (Simulate and Assess the Feasibility of Hydropower Projects) professional software has been utilized. It has been observed that the calculated hydroelectric potential conforms to energy potential calculated by other organizations such as DSI (State Hydraulic Works). Especially the turbine power, installed power, turbine design flow rate and annual energy production values in the studies have been realized with close values to the real ones. The power plant which is planned to have an average of natural streams of the past 43 years has been designed with an annual power production capacity of 210.87 GWh/year (without regulation ratio) and with installed power of 48,144 MW along with a design flow rate of 35 m3/s. As a result, since these water structures have high costs associated with them and also since they will have to be functional for many years, it will be beneficial to use various different computational methods.

Abstract: We extend He's variational iteration method (VIM) to find the approximate solutions for nonlinear differential-difference equation. Simple but typical examples are applied to illustrate the validity and great potential of the generalized variational iteration method in solving nonlinear differential-difference equation. The results reveal that the method is very effective and simple. We find the extended method for nonlinear differential-difference equation is of good accuracy.

Abstract: Knowledge management is a business strategy aiming at making the organizations successful by means of using the knowledge most effectively in the context where there are very rapid and extensive changes. The originality of knowledge management results not from collecting knowledge with new means or methods but from making the knowledge productive in a way that can lead to the redesign of organizational structures and processes with a different eye. Knowledge management firstly used in private sector has begun to become a current issue on public administration’s agenda before long. The efforts of new public management approach to open it up to market by reducing the size of public sector paved the way for the practices of knowledge management in public administration. However, the emphasis on the importance of knowledge, knowledge use and knowledge share isn’t an adequate requirement for knowledge management practices in public administration. The subject of this study is related to the need of knowledge management in public administration. In this study, it has been made a documentary observation according to scientific method and sources about the subject have been reviewed, evaluated, and commented. The aim of this study has been to explain the basic principles of knowledge management, and thus to put forward whether this strategy is necessary or not in public administration. In this context, the concepts of knowledge and knowledge society have been defined, the meaning of knowledge management has been explained, and basic principles of knowledge management on public administration have been clarified.
