RSSI-based Algorithm for Indoor Localization  [PDF]

Abstract: Wireless node localization is one of the key technologies for wireless sensor networks. Outdoor localization can use GPS, AGPS (Assisted Global Positioning System) [6], but in buildings like supermarkets and underground parking, the accuracy of GPS and even AGPS will be greatly reduced. Since Indoor localization requests higher accuracy, using GPS or AGPS for indoor localization is not feasible in the current view. RSSI-based trilateral localization algorithm, due to its low cost, no additional hardware support, and easy-understanding, it becomes the mainstream localization algorithm in wireless sensor networks. With the development of wireless sensor networks and smart devices, the number of WIFI access point in these buildings is increasing, as long as a mobile smart device can detect three or three more known WIFI hotspots’ positions, it would be relatively easy to realize self-localization (Usually WIFI access points locations are fixed). The key problem is that the RSSI value is relatively vulnerable to the influence of the physical environment, causing large calculation error in RSSI-based localization algorithm. The paper proposes an improved RSSI-based algorithm, the experimental results show that compared with original RSSI-based localization algorithms the algorithm improves the localization accuracy and reduces the deviation.
Synthesis of self-assembled needle-shaped calcium carbonate superstructures

Abstract: Novel self-assembled calcium carbonate (CaCO3) crystals exhibiting the morphology of well-defined needles were synthesized by a simple precipitation reaction in the presence of octadecyl dihydrogen phosphate (ODP) as a crystal additive. The CaCO3 obtained by this method is hydrophobic, making it likely to be used widely in industry. The resulting products were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and contact angle experiments. The results indicated that ODP plays an important role in determining the structure, morphology and hydrophobicity of CaCO3 crystals.
Cultural Factors in EAP Teaching — Influences of Thought Pattern on English Academic Writing

Abstract: In the last decade, more and more EFL teachers in the universities of China have been aware of the feasibility and necessity of teaching English for Academic Purpose (EAP), which is identified as one type of English for Specific Purposes, to students of non-English majors. Among the EAP courses, academic writing is considered as the most helpful one. More and more scholars of ESP in China have conducted researches on English academic writing (EAW) including analysis on the syntactic characteristics of English for academic purposes, corpus-based study of English dimension adjectives in academic speaking and writing, and comparative study on Natives’ EAW and Chinese EAW. It was pointed that the EAW research in China focuses on language form and rules, but neglects the correlation of contents and thoughts. Therefore, this research studies the influences of cultural thought patterns on English academic writing by employing product approach to contrast vocabulary and discourse differences in EAW writings produced by Chinese students and native English students. The Relationship between Language Learning Motivation and the Choice of Language Learning Strategies among Chinese Graduates

Abstract: This research is aimed to investigate the relationship between language learning motivation and the choice of language learning strategies among Chinese graduates of non-English majors. A total of 300 graduates participated in this survey research and 284 subject responses were valid and used for the statistical analysis. The collected data were computed and analyzed through descriptive statistics, test of normality, test of linearity and Pearson correlation. The major findings of the study were: (1) Chinese graduates tended to be more extrinsically motivated. (2) Their motivation was found significantly correlated with their learning strategy use. The more motivated students were the more strategies they tended to use. (3) Motivational strength and personal goals were found to have the highest correlation with the overall strategy use among Chinese graduates.
Kinetic study of the DNA annealing properties of RECQ5β helicase

Abstract: RecQ family helicases are critical for maintaining genomic integrity. Many RecQ family helicases not only unwind duplex, and other more complicated DNA structures, but also possess, interestingly, DNA annealing (strand pairing) activity. Here, we systematically investigated the DNA annealing properties of RECQ5β by measuring DNA annealing kinetics, equilibrium DNA binding, and kinetics of dissociation from ssDNA. RECQ5β catalyzed DNA annealing most efficiently when the enzyme molecules covered approximately 40%–50% of the DNA strand, in the absence or presence of different nucleotide cofactors (AMPPNP, ATPγS, or ADP) under our buffer conditions. A comparative study with RECQ5β1–662 confirmed that the C-terminal region of RECQ5β was essential for its high DNA annealing activity. These results contribute to our understanding of the mechanism of DNA annealing catalyzed by RecQ family helicases.

Abstract: 采用浓硫酸低温分解回收废弃稀土抛光粉,考察了硫酸用量、分解温度和反应时间对分解效果的影响,结果显示,较佳实验条件下,稀土收率可达95%以上。通过热重-差热与红外光谱联用技术实时在线监测技术,表明分解过程分为2个阶段,分别在270℃和300℃温度范围附近,稀土氧化物和稀土氟氧化物与硫酸发生反应。

Abstract: Expansion graphite (EG) processing of an expanded volume of 400 mL/g was prepared with 50 mesh crude graphite after chemical oxidation intercalation of potassium permanganate and vitriol, and its adsorption kinetics and thermodynamics characteristics for xylenol orange (XO) was investigated. In thermodynamic study, adsorption isotherm and free energy change (⊿G°) were detected and calculated, respectively. Influence of ionic strength on adsorbance was investigated. Kinetic studies were carried out with a series of XO concentration under different temperatures, and the data were simulated with pseudo first-order and second-order kinetic model, respectively. Results illustrate: adsorption of EG for XO is a spontaneous process, and adsorption isotherm is type II; equilibrium adsorbance increases with the increase of ionic strength. Kinetic studies show that the kinetic data can be delineated by pseudo second-order kinetic model. Initial adsorption rate increases with the increase of temperature. Adsorption activation energy is less than 20 kJ/mol; physical adsorption is the major mode of the overall adsorption process.

The existence of solutions to this problem is proved and the estimate for the regularity of solutions is given. The application of the existence theorem to elastrodynamics is discussed.
