Phase boundary sliding model controlled by diffusionsolution zone in superplastic deformation
Zhiqiang Shi,Yifu Ye,Shichun Li,Xinying Teng,Huanrong Wang
Chinese Science Bulletin , 2002, DOI: 10.1007/BF02907615
Abstract: With scanning electron microscope (SEM), the surface morphology of phase boundary sliding (PBS) in superplastic deformation (SPD) of Zn-Al alloy and the diffusion behavior of Zn, Al interfaces in their powers’ sintering have been investigated. The results show that Zn-Al eutectoid microstructure can be achieved through their powders’ sintering, and the diffusion characteristic between Zn and Al is just a demonstration of Kirkendall effect, in which Zn can dissolve into Al whereas A1 can hardly dissolve into Zn. During sintering, a diffusion-solution zone α′ has formed and subsequently transformed into a eutectoid microstructure in the cooling process. The superplastic deformation mechanism of Zn-Al eutectic alloy is phase boundary sliding which is controlled by the diffusion-solution zone α′. If the diffusion-solution zone α′ is unsaturated, it will have much more crystal defects and the combination between α′ and phase β is weak, thus the process of phase boundary sliding becomes easily; on the contrary, if the diffusion-solution zone α′ becomes thick and saturated, the sliding will be difficult.
Research on China and the US Service Trade Structures Based on Technical Value Added  [PDF]
Xinying Liu, Xiawei Shen
Open Journal of Social Sciences (JSS) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/jss.2014.29017
Abstract:

China and the United States have been important partners in service trade. Much research has been done on the traditional indexes which reflect the two countries’ service trade structure, indicating that technology is playing an increasingly significant role in international trade. We use a new index of technical value added to analyze the service trade structure of the two countries. As a result, we can calculate tradable technical value added based on the Technical Value Added theory. We also introduce the method to calculate and measure the service trade’s category according to the classification of the International Trade Center in China and the US. Finally we figure out the structures of the service trade in both countries as well as some proposals to optimize the structure.

Cronkhite-Canada Syndrome: A Case Report and Literature Review of Gastrointestinal Polyposis Syndrome  [PDF]

Case Reports in Clinical Medicine (CRCM) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/crcm.2014.312138
Abstract:
Cronkhite-Canada syndrome (CCS) is a rare, non-inherited polyposis syndrome, characterized by diffuse gastrointestinal (GI) hamartomatous polyposis with unique dermatologic changes including alopecia, skin hyperpigmentation, and nail dystrophy. Patients can typically present with diarrhea, weight loss, protein-losing enteropathy, and nutritional deficiency. However, it can demonstrate diverse other clinical features, usually with poor prognosis. Currently, there are no specific diagnostic criteria established yet. The etiology of CCS is still obscure, but an autoimmune process has been suggested. Here we present an 81-year-old Caucasian female who had clinical presentations, physical exam, imaging, endoscopy and pathology findings that were all consistent with the diagnosis of CCS. We also include a detailed literature review of the other gastrointestinal polyposis syndromes (hamartomatous, adenomatous, hyperplastic and inflammatory polyposis). A high index of suspicion and recognition of the characteristic clinical, endoscopic as well as histopathological findings of CCS, as well as different gastrointestinal polyposis conditions, can help clinicians with more timely and correct diagnosis.
On the Laplacian Coefficients and Laplacian-Like Energy of Unicyclic Graphs with Vertices and Pendent Vertices

Journal of Applied Mathematics , 2012, DOI: 10.1155/2012/404067
Abstract: Let be the characteristic polynomial of the Laplacian matrix of a graph of order . In this paper, we give four transforms on graphs that decrease all Laplacian coefficients and investigate a conjecture A. Ilić and M. Ilić (2009) about the Laplacian coefficients of unicyclic graphs with vertices and pendent vertices. Finally, we determine the graph with the smallest Laplacian-like energy among all the unicyclic graphs with vertices and pendent vertices.
Achieving Energy Proportionality In Server Clusters
Xinying Zheng,Yu Cai
International Journal of Computer Networks , 2009,
Abstract: a great amount of interests in the past few years. Energy proportionality is a principal to ensure that energy consumption is proportional to the system workload. Energy proportional design can effectively improve energy efficiency of computing systems. In this paper, an energy proportional model is proposed based on queuing theory and service differentiation in server clusters, which can provide controllable and predictable quantitative control over power consumption with theoretically guaranteed service performance. Futher study for the transition overhead is carried out corresponding strategy is proposed to compensate the performance degradation caused by transition overhead. The model is evaluated via extensive simulations and is justified by the real workload data trace. The results show that our model can achieve satisfied service performance while still preserving energy efficiency in the system.
Photo Essay: A Pictorial History of Changchun, 1898-1962
Yishi Liu,Xinying Wang
Cross-Currents : East Asian History and Culture Review , 2012,
Abstract: This essay periodizes Changchun’s urban history from 1800 to the 1950s according to its major city functions in order to contextualize coauthor Xinying Wang’s remarkable personal collection of visual materials presented in the accompanying "Cross-Currents photo essay" (https://cross-currents.berkeley.edu/e-journal/photo-essay/392?page=0) and, in turn, to contribute to a better understanding of Changchun’s urban transformation between the turn of the twentieth century and the early years of Maoism. In each phase of Changchun’s urban development, modernity found different forms in the construction of the city, revealing that modernity is neither constant nor secluded from the larger political and cultural milieu. Influenced by both indigenous and foreign factors, modernity is constantly reinvented to fit into new contexts and to meet new needs.

Emerging Asia’s Version of the Mundell-Fleming Model  [PDF]
Suresh Ramanathan, Kian Teng
Modern Economy (ME) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/me.2013.49064
Abstract:

This paper explains the Mundell-Fleming model in the context of Emerging Asia economies management of capital mobility. Central Banks and Financial Regulators in Emerging Asia adopt a modified version of the model that incorporates two vital levers, a policy driven and a market driven method that is adaptable to the magnitude of capital flow. A policy combination mix of both policy and market driven provides smooth monetary policy signal transmission to exchange rates.

Psychology (PSYCH) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/psych.2013.410103
Abstract:

The present study aimed to reveal the role of neuroticism on the relationship between self-esteem and aggressive emotion. We conducted a cross-sectional study in which a battery of self-report questionnaires was used to assess self-esteem, neuroticism and aggressive emotion in 1085 Chinese adolescents (N = 1085, Mage = 16.38 years, 753 boys). We found that self-esteem could make a negative prediction of aggressive emotion both in males and females. And also, we found the mediating role of neuroticism was in both males and females, on the relations between self-esteem and aggressive emotion, especially, the moderating role of neuroticism among males in the aspect of relationship between self-esteem and aggressive emotion. In conclusion, neuroticism was of importance for aggressive emotion, which was conducive to interventions. According to these findings, at the same time, implications and limitations were discussed in the content.

A Class of Semilocal -Preinvex Functions and Its Applications in Nonlinear Programming
Hehua Jiao,Sanyang Liu,Xinying Pai
Journal of Applied Mathematics , 2012, DOI: 10.1155/2012/629194
Abstract: A kind of generalized convex set, called as local star-shaped -invex set with respect to , is presented, and some of its important characterizations are derived. Based on this concept, a new class of functions, named as semilocal -preinvex functions, which is a generalization of semi--preinvex functions and semilocal -convex functions, is introduced. Simultaneously, some of its basic properties are discussed. Furthermore, as its applications, some optimality conditions and duality results are established for a nonlinear programming.
