iPhone Independent Real Time Localization System Research and Its Healthcare Application  [PDF]

Abstract: This project studied several popular localization algorithms on iPhone and, according to the demands, specifically designed it to improve healthcare IT system in hospitals. The challenge of this project was to realize the different localization systems on iPhone and to make balance between its response time and localization accuracy. We implemented three popular localization algorithms, namely nearest neighbor (NN), K-nearest neighbor (KNN), and probability phase, and we compared their performance on iPhone. Furthermore, we also implemented a real-time localization system using the ZigBee technology on iPhone. Thus, the whole system could realize not only self-localization but also others-localization. To fulfill the healthcare needs, we developed an application, which can be used to improve the hospital IT, system. The whole project included three phases. The first phase was to localize iPhone’s position using the received WiFi signal by iPhone, compare and optimize their performances. During the second phase, we implemented a ZigBee RFID localization system and combined it with the WiFi system. Finally, we combined new features of the system with a healthcare IT system. We believe that this application on iPhone can be a useful and advanced application in hospitals.
The Analysis of the Housing Markets in Beijing and Washington, 2005-2014  [PDF]

Abstract: Since the economic reform of the late 1970s, China has achieved a magnificent economic growth. China’s socialist market economy has become the world’s second largest economy by nominal GDP, reaching 10,380 billion dollars and holding a 13.43 percent share of global GDP. The dramatic growth of economy also has boosted the development of Chinese housing market. But the question remains: Is the Chinese real estate market developing in a positive way? This paper first compares the housing prices in Washington and Beijing using hypothesis test for population means and linear regression model. It is found that despite China’s low housing price in early years, the average housing prices are almost the same in Beijing and Washington area. The most reasonable proposal is that the personal income in Beijing is higher. However, the data and the line chart illustrate that the opposite is actually true. Therefore, in order to further explore the reasons behind the high housing prices in Beijing, the paper then statistically analyzes a series of factors, including per capita income, limited land resources, city functions, unbalanced regional development, the influence of cultural traditions, the government policies, the structure of housing supply, and the investment demand. The last part of the paper points out the problems of the Chinese housing market by looking at the housing price to income ratio and the economic growth trend. The result shows that Chinese housing price has far exceeded common people’s affordability, which has the potential to cause social instability.

Energy security is an issue that many countries pay more attention to. Cooperation is a good way to solute it. According to the complex system theory, the regional energy cooperation means a state or process of balance system formed by the interaction and behavior coordination between agents. The features of the regional energy cooperation risk include: uncertainty, potential, fuzziness, diversity, relevance and particularity. And the regional energy cooperation risk can be divided into risk inside the system such as main body ability structure of the risk and main body decision-making risk, and the risk outside the system such as external environment factors and cooperation pattern factors.

Synthesis of Branched Silicon-Containing Arylethyleneacetylene Resin and the Performance of Casting  [PDF]

With good thermal properties, dielectric property and high-temperature ceramics performance, silicon-containing arylacetylene resin (PSA) has opened an attractive alternative to high performance thermosetting resins in application in the area of aircraft and missile. However, it is difficult to introduce silicon into the main chain of organic arylacetylene. In this paper, branched silicon-containing arylethyleneacetylene (BSA) resin was synthesized by methyltrichlorosilane and diethynylbenzene with zinc powder as catalyst. The advantages lie in simple operation, short reaction period and mild heat release. BSA resin exhibits excellent processability with the processing temperature of 20?C - 150?C and processing window of 130?C. The glass transition temperature of the resin casting is over 500?C. The temperature of 5% weight loss (Td5) is up to 575?C and char yield of thermoset at 800?C (Y800) reaches 91% under nitrogen. Also, the dielectric constant and dielectric loss of casting has no change within 10 - 106 Hz.
Study on Protein Detection Method in Qingkailing Injection

Abstract: This study was aimed to establish a method for determining protein content in Qingkailing Injection. Biuret colorimetry was used to determine the protein which had been precipitated by trichloroacetic acid. SDSpolyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) was used to determine the molecular weight of the protein. The results showed that molecular weight of protein in Qingkailing Injection is between 3 KD to 7 KD. It was concluded that SDS-PAGE can be used to determine the protein in Qingkailing Injection. This method is simple and rapid.
Detection on the Period of Long PN Code in DS/SS Signals at Low SNR

Abstract: To accurately detect the period of long PN sequence in electronic countermeasures in Direct Sequence/Spread Spectrum (DS/SS) communication, a method is proposed in which the influence of information code on the detection of the period of SS signals was eliminated by delaying and multiplying the input DS/SS signals with the known PN rate and then the period of long PN sequence was obtained by reprocessing the power spectrum. Simulation results show that the method proposed can detect both long and short PN sequences accurately at the signal-to-noise ratio less than -13 dB and the detection is little affected by the period of symbol, but it is affected by the period of PN sequence and longer N needs longer sample time if the detected SNR is the same.
Foreground segmentation based on multi-resolution and matting

Abstract: We propose a foreground segmentation algorithm that does foreground extraction under different scales and refines the result by matting. First, the input image is filtered and resampled to 5 different resolutions. Then each of them is segmented by adaptive figure-ground classification and the best segmentation is automatically selected by an evaluation score that maximizes the difference between foreground and background. This segmentation is upsampled to the original size, and a corresponding trimap is built. Closed-form matting is employed to label the boundary region, and the result is refined by a final figure-ground classification. Experiments show the success of our method in treating challenging images with cluttered background and adapting to loose initial bounding-box.

In order to respond to the national policy of energy saving and consumption reduction, the temperature drop formula of annular pipeline should be established to optimize the water mixing temperature and water mixing flow. The traditional temperature drop formula applies the high water cut actual situation to 13.7%. On the basis of the traditional Schulhof temperature drop formula, the influence of hydraulic friction on the oil flow temperature is calculated by the calculus idea. The heat transfer coefficient of the pipeline under the complex condition is obtained by the inverse algorithm, and the water mixing flow and water temperature are simulated with MATLAB. The function surface diagram of the degree and the back station temperature. The actual error can be reduced to 4.8%, and the return station temperature can be optimized by 7 degrees.
Evaluation of Network Connection Credibility based on Neural Network

Abstract: This paper presents an innovative method to evaluate the credibility of network connections based on neural network with back propagation (BP) network model and Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) optimization algorithm. In it, the second-level index values are taken as input and expected evaluation values as output, based on which, L test samples are used to test the trained neural network. At last, a prediction is made to evaluate the current connection credibility according to the trained neural network and corresponding security strategies are adopted on the basis of the evaluation values. It is shown that the nonlinear relationship between the attributes and the credibility of network connections can be established by training neural-network using LM algorithm. Simulation results indicate this method could achieve high evaluation accuracy.
Fast Automatic Video Retrieval using Web Images

Abstract: We describe a real-time video retrieval framework based on short text input in which weakly labelled training samples from the web are obtained, after the query is known. Concept discovery methods in such a setting train hundreds of detectors at test time and apply them to every frame in the video database. Hence, they are not practical for use in a text based video retrieval setting. We show that an efficient visual representation for a new query can be constructed on-line that enables matching against the test set in real-time. We evaluate a few combinations of encoding, pooling, and matching schemes that are efficient and find that such a system can be built with surprisingly simple and well-known components. We are not only able to construct and apply query models in real-time, but with the help of a re-ranking scheme, we also outperform state-of-the-art methods by a significant margin.
