Gene expression profiling in a mouse model of infantile neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis reveals upregulation of immediate early genes and mediators of the inflammatory response

Abstract: A total of 267 genes were significantly (approximately 2-fold) up- or downregulated over the course of the disease. Immediate early genes (Arc, Cyr61, c-fos, jun-b, btg2, NR4A1) were among the first genes upregulated during the presymptomatic period whereas immune response genes dominated at later time points. Chemokine ligands and protease inhibitors were among the most transcriptionally responsive genes. Neuronal survival factors (IGF-1 and CNTF) and a negative regulator of neuronal apoptosis (DAP kinase-1) were upregulated late in the course of the disease. Few genes were downregulated; these included the α2 subunit of the GABA-A receptor, a component of cortical and hippocampal neurons, and Hes5, a transcription factor important in neuronal differentiation.A molecular description of gene expression changes occurring in the brain throughout the course of neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis suggests distinct phases of disease progression, provides clues to potential markers of disease activity, and points to new targets for therapy.An unusual group of lysosomal storage disorders, the neuronal ceroid lipofuscinoses, are characterized by retinal and cortical neurodegeneration with scant autofluorescent storage material that accumulates in the brain and peripheral tissues (reviewed in [1]). Distinct subsets of NCL are recognized based on characteristic appearance by electron microscopy that include granular osmiophilic deposits and/or various membrane profiles (curvilinear, fingerprint, and rectilinear) [2]. Autosomal recessive mutations in at least seven different genes are responsible for these disorders [3], and while the function of only a few is known, each appears to participate in some aspect of endo/lysosomal function [4]. Abstract: The membrane module was made up of common filter cloth and the precoating material was powder activated carbon. Three kinds of membrane modules a precoating dynamic membrane, a dynamic membrane without precoating, and a traditional hollow fiber membrane were used. The experimental results showed that the precoating dynamic membrane could not only remove contaminants in wastewater effectively, but also prevent pollutants and microbes diffusing into the interior of the primary membrane so as to mitigate membrane fouling. After 1128 hours' running, the pressure increased only up to 6kPa. And the flux could be almost recovered after the the contaminants had been wiped off by brushing without any chemical addition.

Abstract:

In this paper, the existence and uniqueness of solution systems for some binary nonlinear operator equations are discussed by using cone and partially order theory and monotone iteration theory, and the iterative sequences which converge to solution of operator equations and error estimates for iterative sequences are also given. Some corresponding results are improved and generalized. Finally, the applications of our results are given.

Abstract:

This paper describes the characteristics and optimal methods for the planning of stand-alone microgrid system, in order to improve the power supply reliability, increase the coefficient of utilization of renewable energy and reduce the cost of investment and operation. Next, the problems in the optimal planning for a stand-alone microgrid system are summarized, including the unique operational control targets, the flexible combination approaches and the operation strategies of distributed generation energy supply system, and the special requirements of the reliability of power supply quality factor from the different users. And then, centering on the operational control and the advanced energy management strategy, the optimal mathematical models and the solving methods, the reliability assessment approaches and the improvement measures of a stand-alone microgrid system, an overview of the general situation of the recent research at home and abroad and the limitations of the study are summarized. Finally, several problems, existing in the optimal planning of stand-alone microgrid system, to be urgently solved, are put forward.

Abstract: Based on the local listed companies in pharmaceutical industry as samples, this article inspects the influence of regional subsidies on the industries and the companies in it. The results show that the regional subsidies have no positive effects on the cross-regional enterprises whereas the support promotes the value of local enterprises. Guided by the composition of the market value, this article researches the reasons from the perspective of profit and development capacity. This article finds that the regional subsidies have no intensive strength to the R & D (Research and Development) capacity in the cross-regional enterprises and the relationship between the regional subsidies and the operating profits behaves completely different among cross-regional enterprises and local enterprises. Based on the empirical analysis, this article concludes that the effects of regional subsidies behave completely different among the cross-regional enterprises and the local enterprises, which can be explained by the short-time and long-time analysis.

Abstract: In this work, we propose a model of oscillation of Davydov solitons in three wells. It can be used as a mathematical and physical frame in simulation of circle of some nonlinear oscillation of excitations via acupuncture system. The calculation shows that this sort of oscillation is possible if the initial rate of average occupational number of the quasi-particles in the wells is not equal to zero. One of oscillations arising relies on the initial rate of average occupational number of quasi-particles to be equal with each other within three wells. Then, the oscillation is not a kind of Josephson oscillation and has complicated frequency distributions. However, the total behavior of oscillation played is similar to three big solitons concentrated in three wells. In this sense, this model generally reveals a sort of oscillation mechanism of the acupuncture system how to work in the body, which allows us to understand the oscillation that may be one of fundamental natures in the acupuncture system.

Abstract:

This paper uses the data of 224 Chinese listed companies from 2007 to 2017 to study the relationship between returnee managers, risk-taking and corporate innovation performance. The research results show that the returnee managers are significantly positively correlated with the innovation performance of the enterprise; the returnee managers are positively related to the enterprise risk-taking; the risk-taking is the mediator of the returnee managers and the innovation performance of the enterprises.

Water vapor transport over China and its relationship with drought and flood in Yangtze River Basin

Abstract: The characteristics of water vapor transport (WVT) over China and its relationship with precipitation anomalies in the Yangtze River Basin (YRB) are analyzed by using the upper-air station data in China and ECMWF reanalysis data in summer from 1981 to 2002. The results indicate that the first mode of the vertically integrated WVT is significant whose spatial distribution presents water vapor convergence or divergence in the YRB. When the Western Pacific Subtropical High (WPSH) is strong and shifts southward and westward, the Indian Monsoon Low Pressure (IMLP) is weak, and the northern part of China stands behind the middle and high latitude trough, a large amount of water vapor from the Bay of Bengal (BOB), the South China Sea (SCS) and the western Pacific forms a strong and steady southwest WVT band and meets the strong cold water vapor from northern China in the YRB, thus it is likely to cause flood in the YRB. When WPSH is weak and shifts northward and eastward, IMLP is strong, and there is nearly straight west wind over the middle and high latitude, it is unfavorable for oceanic vapor extending to China and no steady and strong southwest WVT exists in the region south of the YRB. Meanwhile, the cold air from northern China is weak and can hardly be transported to the YRB. This brings on no obvious water vapor convergence, and then less precipitation in the YRB.
Sinusoidal phase modulating interferometer for real-time surface profile measurement

Abstract: The optical interferometry for the surface profile measurement is high accuracy, non-contact, and has a wide application in industry and scientific research. In this paper, a sinusoidal phase modulating (SPM) interferometer to realize real-time surface profile measurement is proposed, and its measuring principle is analyzed theoretically. In the SPM interferometer, the interference signal is detected by a high speed image sensor based on a low-speed CCD and a signal processing circuit is used to obtain the phase of each point on the surface. Therefore, the surface profile can be measured real time. The experiments measuring the surface profile of a wedge-shaped optical flat show that the measurement time of the SPM interferometer is less than 10 ms, the repetitive measurement accuracy is 5.2 nm. The experimental results confirm the validity of the SPM interferometer, and the merits of the interferometer is simple structure, high measurement accuracy.
