A Processing Workflow for Ocean Bottom Cable Dual-Sensor Acquisition Data: A Case of 3D Seismic Data in Bohai Bay  [PDF]

Abstract: The technique of ocean bottom cable (OBC) dual-sensor acquisition is an effective method to suppress the ghost wave and the reverberation at the receiver. With the advent of this technique, the processing method has become the key to the effective use of the OBC dual-sensor data. This paper has developed a new set of processing workflow based on the principle of combining the hydrophone and geophone data. This new process was applied to the OBC data acquired in Bohai area. The actual processing results show that the ghost and the reverberation are attenuated effectively. The frequency energy of the first notch point of the hydrophone data increased from 22 dB to 13 dB, and the frequency energy of the first notch point of the geophone data increased from 18 dB to 10 dB. The spectral characteristics of the dual-sensor data are more reasonable. The frequency spectrum is broadened and richer, and the resolution of the stack profile is improved greatly.
An efficient second order in time scheme for approximating long time statistical properties of the two dimensional Navier-Stokes equations

Abstract: We investigate the long tim behavior of the following efficient second order in time scheme for the 2D Navier-Stokes equation in a periodic box: $$ \frac{3\omega^{n+1}-4\omega^n+\omega^{n-1}}{2k} + \nabla^\perp(2\psi^n-\psi^{n-1})\cdot\nabla(2\omega^n-\omega^{n-1}) - \nu\Delta\omega^{n+1} = f^{n+1}, \quad -\Delta \psi^n = \om^n. $$ The scheme is a combination of a 2nd order in time backward-differentiation (BDF) and a special explicit Adams-Bashforth treatment of the advection term. Therefore only a linear constant coefficient Poisson type problem needs to be solved at each time step. We prove uniform in time bounds on this scheme in $\dL2$, $\dH1$ and $\dot{H}^2_{per}$ provided that the time-step is sufficiently small. These time uniform estimates further lead to the convergence of long time statistics (stationary statistical properties) of the scheme to that of the NSE itself at vanishing time-step. Fully discrete schemes with either Galerkin Fourier or collocation Fourier spectral method are also discussed.
Experimental Investigation of Evolution Process of Nonlinear Characteristics from Chatter Free to Chatter  [PDF]

Abstract: The vibration acceleration time history of the cutter holder was separated into three parts; namely, chatter free, transition and chatter processes. The reconstructed attractor and probability distribution of vibration acceleration time series were studied in order to observe the system’s behavior. The Lyapunov exponent andKolmogorov entropy were used to help judge the cutting state. Meanwhile, the relation curves of the Lyapunov exponent and entropy versus machining parameters were plotted and discussed. The research shows that Lyapunov exponent and Kolmogorov entropy are toned up when vibration acceleration time his- tory goes from chatter free, transition to chatter. When cutting state transited from chatter free to chatter, the Lyapunov exponent and Kolmogorov entropy increase with increasing amplitude. In addition, the relation curves looks like stability lobes. The experimental study allow us to select optimal machining parameters for decreasing the uncertainty of cutting vibration.
Study on the Difference between Volatile Constituents of the Different Parts from Elsholtzia ciliata by SHS-GC-MS  [PDF]

Abstract: In this study, the comparison of Elsholtzia ciliata volatile compounds from the stem (with leaf) and flower was acquired. The volatile compounds of these two parts from Elsholtzia ciliata aerial parts were respectively analyzed by a rapid and convenient static headspace injection technique coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and the relative contents of each constituent between the two different parts were determined by peak area normalization. 61 compounds were identified in the stem (with leaf) and flower, among which 39 components simultaneously exist. 47 and 53 compounds were separated and identified in the volatile compounds from the different parts of Elsholtzia ciliata, respectively. There were differences among some volatile constituents of the two parts, but the main constituents were all Elsholtzia ketone, caryophyllene, 3-octanol and Dehydroelsholtzia ketone. The most abundant components in the stem (with leaf) included Elsholtzia ketone (84.20%), caryophyllene (4.3%) and 3-octanol (3.11%), while Elsholtzia ketone (88.03%), caryophyllene (3.33%) and 3-octanol (1.53%) were the main components in the flower. 8 single constituents were identified in the stem (with leaf) volatiles including 3-heptanone and linalool, while 14 constituents only including 2-methylbutanoic acid and Perillene have been found in the flower volatiles. Elsholtzia ketone was the main compound, and its concentration was significantly higher than other substances (>80% of the total oils in Elsholtzia ciliata). The study provided an important scientific base for the further utilization of Elsholtzia ciliata resources and may be helpful for systematically understanding the constituents of volatile compounds of Elsholtzia ciliata.
Size-Dependent Dynamic Behavior of a Microcantilever Plate

Abstract: Material length scale considerably affects the mechanical properties of microcantilever components. Recently, cantilever-plate-like structures have been commonly used, whereas the lack of studies on their size effects constrains the design, testing, and application of these structures. We have studied the size-dependent dynamic behavior of a cantilever plate based on a modified couple stress theory and the differential quadrature method in this note. The numerical solutions of microcantilever plate equation involving the size effect have been presented. We have also analyzed the bending and vibration of the microcantilever plates considering the size effect and discussed the dependence of the size effect on their geometric dimensions. The results have shown that (1) the mechanical characteristics of the cantilever plate show obvious size effects; as a result, the bending deflection of a microcantilever plate reduces whereas the natural frequency increases effectively and (2) for the plates with the same material, the size effect becomes more obvious when the plates are thinner.
Feature Ranking by Weighting and ISE Criterion of Nonparametric Density Estimation

Abstract: This study deals with how to efficiently rank features of datasets. As we may know well, reducing the dimensionality of datasets (i.e., feature reduction) is an important step in pattern recognition tasks and exploratory data analysis. Quite often, feature ranking is required before completing feature reduction. In this study, a novel classifier-free feature ranking approach based on the combination of both weighting features and ISE (Integrated Squared Error) criterion is proposed. ISE is measured in terms of the modified non-parametric Parzen window density estimator in this study. The advantage of the proposed approach is that it allows us to make an efficient and effective non-parametric implementation and requires no prior assumption. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach here is very promising.

Train Control System Formalization Modeling oriented Movement Authority

Abstract: Chinese Train Control System-3(CTCS-3) was integrated via various control system devices, assurance of CTCS-3 system transmission probability relied on empirical judgment, it is necessary to form its formalization to support integration for system stability of the whole CTCS-3. Movement Authority(MA) acts on the whole information process of CTCS-3 to control train, its process properties can be as the reflection of CTCS probability. Aiming at that, paper selected MA as the objective, proposed MA-oriented CTCS-3 formalization modeling. Paper designed generation and transmission algorithms of MA, formed MA computation models for application functions. Based on computation models, paper constructed MA hierarchical Colored Petri Nets(CPN) models, and completed MA timed CPN model, the report and experimental result demonstrate that the model proposed is effective and can reflect CTCS-3 system properties accurately.

A query verification scheme for dynamic outsourced databases

Abstract: Recently, Kyriakos et al. proposed a Partially Materialized Digest scheme (PMD). Their scheme uses separate indexes for the data and the verification information to realize the authenticity and completeness verification in outsourced database. In this paper, we analyze PMD and show the drawbacks in PMD such as the slow update, the collusion and forgery attacks, and no content access control etc. In order to overcome these defects, the idea of designated verifier signature is introduced into query verification, and a secure, efficient query verification scheme for dynamic outsourced databases is proposed based on PMD. The analysis of security and performance shows that the proposed scheme has not only the same advantages with PMD, but also prevents the collusion and forgery attacks as well as enforces content access control. Furthermore, the update speed of the proposed scheme is faster than PMD, the storage cast of the proposed is lower than PMD.
