Novel Understanding of Electron States Architecture and Its Dimensionality in Semiconductors  [PDF]

Abstract:

Some important insights into the electron-states-architecture (ESA) and its dimensionality (from 3 to 0) in a semiconductor (or generally crystalline) material are obtained. The self-consistency of the set of density of states (DOS) expressions with different dimensionalities is remediated through the clarification and rearrangement of the wave-function boundary conditions for working out the eigenvalues in the wave vector space. The actually too roughly observed and theoretically unpredicted critical points for the dimensionality transitions referring to the integer ones are revealed upon an unusual assumption of the intrinsic energy-level dispersion (ELD). The ELD based quantitative physical model had been established on an immediate instinct at the very beginning and has been properly modified afterwards. The uncertainty regarding the relationship between the de Broglie wavelength of electrons and the dimensionality transitions, seeming somewhat mysterious before, is consequentially eliminated. The effect of the material dimensions on the ELD width is also predicted and has been included in the model. The continuous evolution of the ESA dimensionality is convincingly and comprehensively interpreted and thus the area of the fractional ESA dimensionalities is opened. Another new assumption of the spatial extension shrinkage (SES) closely related to the ELD has also been made and thus the understanding of the behavior of an electron or, in a general sense, a particle has become more comprehensive. This work would manifest itself a new basis for further development of nanoheterostructures (or low dimensional heterostructures including the quantum wells, quantum wires, quantum dots and especially the hetero-dimensional structures). Abstract:

Hydroxylated Tung oil (HTO) based nonionic polyurethane dispersion (HTO-NPUD) were synthesized using dicyclohexyl methane diisocyanate (HMDI) and HTO as main hydrophobic materials whereas polyethylene glycol-800 (PEG-800) as hydrophilic chain extender. To effectively study the effects of HTO on properties of NPUD, polypropylene glycol-400(PPG-400) based NPUD was prepared by HMDI reacting with PPG-400 and PEG-800. The structures of those novel nonionic polyurethane dispersions were characterized by FTIR and 1H NMR. Moreover, particle size and size distribution, cloud point and surface tension had been investigated. Results showed that, by comparing with PPG based NPUD (PPG-NPUD), the introduction of HTO into NPUD result in larger particle size and more uniformed particle size distribution, higher cloud point and lower surface tension.

Cloning, sequencing and identification of single nucleotide polymorphisms of partial sequence on the porcine CACNA1S gene

Abstract: CACNA1S gene encodes the α1 subunit of the calcium channel. The mutation of CACNA1S gene can cause hypokalemic periodic paralysis (HypoKPP) and maliglant hyperthermia synarome (MHS) in human beings. Current research on CACNA1S was mainly in human being and model animal, but rarely in livestock and poultry. In this study, Yorkshire pigs (23), Pietrain pigs (30), Jinhua pigs (115) and the second generation (126) of crossbred of Jinhua and Pietrain were used. Primers were designed according to the sequence of human CACNA1S gene and PCR was carried out using pig genome DNA. PCR products were sequenced and compared with that of human, and then single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were investigated by PCR-SSCP, while PCR-RFLP tests were performed to validate the mutations. Results indicated: (1) the 5211 bp DNA fragments of porcine CACNA1S gene were acquired (GenBank accession number: DQ767693 ) and the identity of the exon region was 82.6% between human and pig; (2) fifty-seven mutations were found within the cloned sequences, among which 24 were in exon region; (3) the results of PCR-RFLP were in accordance with that of PCR-SSCP. According to the EST of porcine CACNA1S gene published in GenBank (Bx914582, Bx666997), 8 of the 11 SNPs identified in the present study were consistent with the base difference between two EST fragments

Abstract:
We describe a common social phenomenon in this article. It is that when children grow up, in addition to their talents and efforts in comparison with their peers, the parental background between children is also an important stake in their competition. Parents’ social status and superior power will result in more social resources and opportunities for children. We call this phenomenon “parents privilege competition”. The root cause of this phenomenon is the serious hardening of the stratum and the poor social mobility in vertical society, which makes it difficult for children to have an equal competitive environment. After analyzing the phenomenon, this article discusses the causes of this phenomenon and the solutions.
Numerical studies on flow and thermal fields in MOCVD reactor

Abstract: A systematic study has been performed to investigate the flow and thermal patterns of vertical rotating Thomas Swan MOCVD reactor at low pressure, using 2-D dynamic modeling. By varying and calculating the several important process parameters of the reactor, the optimized conditions of the uniform distributions of velocity and temperature profiles in steady state have been obtained. Then, time-dependent models with the step response perturbation of the total gas rate can help identify the visual transient behavior inside the reactor and analyze the mechanism of delay time, relaxation oscillation and pulsative oscillation. These results are beneficial to the process parameter optimization and geometrical configuration design of the MOCVD reactor.
Construction and Validation of Self-Management Scale for Undergraduate Students  [PDF]

Abstract: This study developed a scale to assess undergraduate students’ self-management ability in daily life. Forty items about self-management on time, goal, emotions and personal relationships were generated for the draft scale. Content review panel deleted seven items. In Study 1, 522 Chinese undergraduate students took the test. Exploratory factor analysis and item analysis on the first half 261 cases deleted 6 items. Confirmatory factor analysis further revised the model and resulted in a two-factor Self-Management Scale, consisting of 21 items. Cross-validation on the second half 261 cases also verified the scale’s structural validity. In Study 2, responses from 374 undergraduate students were used to examine the reliability and criterion-related validity of the scale. The internal consistency reliability of the scale was 0.86. Relationship management showed good criterion-related validity, while the validity of performance management needs further examination.

Abstract: A general wafer bonding criterion is deduced from minimum energy principle,which is developed by linear elastic thin plate theory.Under the same framework the effect of macro-scale wafer bow and micro-scale wafer waviness on wafer bonding process are modeled through the elastic strain energy accumulation rate which is the quantity that controls bonding.Model results are discussed respectively in detail.

Abstract: The block element method (BKEM) and elasto-visco-plastic model are adopted to analyze the deformation and stability of jointed rock slope. BKEM is used to simulate the discontinuous deformation of jointed rock,and the elasto-visco-plastic modeling used in contacted element to investigate the rheological deformation and stability of slope. The computed results show that the method is feasible.
