Investigation Report on the Teaching of Practical English Writing of English Majors

Abstract: The practical writing course aims at helping students have a comprehensive understanding of writing subjects and improve their abilities of analyzing and understanding texts. This paper has explored how writing textbooks are used in the writing course and pointed out that the aim should be to help students improve their ability of analysis and cultural consciousness, increase the amount of reading and improve their ability of summarizing, read more subjects and strengthen their consciousness of stylistics. This paper also noticed some problems in students’ writing through the questionnaires and gave further analysis.
Weighted Time-Variant Slide Fuzzy Time-Series Models for Short-Term Load Forecasting  [PDF]

Abstract: Short-term load forecast plays an important role in the day-to-day operation and scheduling of generating units. Season and temperature are the most important factors that affect the load change, but random factors such as big sport events or popular TV shows can change demand consumption in particular hours, which will lead to sudden load changes. A weighted time-variant slide fuzzy time-series model (WTVS) for short-term load forecasting is proposed to improve forecasting accuracy. The WTVS model is divided into three parts, including the data preprocessing, the trend training and the load forecasting. In the data preprocessing phase, the impact of random factors will be weakened by smoothing the historical data. In the trend training and load forecasting phase, the seasonal factor and the weighted historical data are introduced into the Time-variant Slide Fuzzy Time-series Models (TVS) for short-term load forecasting. The WTVS model is tested on the load of the National Electric Power Company in Jordan. Results show that the proposed WTVS model achieves a significant improvement in load forecasting accuracy as compared to TVS models.
Contribution to Confirmed & Synthesized on Mycorrhizae of Tuber indicum s.l. with Two Dominated & Subalpine Broadleaf Trees in Southwestern China  [PDF]

Abstract: The ascomata and mycorrhizae of Tuber indicum s.l. were collected under the forest of broad-leaf species Populus yunnanensis and Quercus pannosa in the field respectively. The symbiotic relationships of both trees with T. indicum were examined and affirmed based on morphology and ITS-rDNA sequences. These two mycorrhizal combinations were successfully produced on artificially controlled substrates and cultural condition. This is the first report of a mycorrhizal association and synthesis between Chinese black truffles and poplars. A hyphal net covering the mantle’s surface of the mycorrhizae was detected in both mycorrhizal combinations. The mycorrhizal colonization of P. yunnanensis and Q. pannosa suggests that T. indicum s.l. has a broader host range and that additional corresponding wood species would be used as candidates for the cultivation of T. indicum. The nuclear-ITS sequences of the mycorrhizae included in the phylogeny of the T. indicum complex revealed that the two clades within the complex do not markedly differ with respect to their preferences for host species or geographical origin. Our results help to explain the wide distribution of both clades of the T. indicum

Abstract: This paper, applying Achievement Motivation Scale, conducts investigation to 278 grade 2 senior high school students on their achievement motivation. The research results show that there is no significant difference between the achievement motivations of students from common senior high school and those from key senior high school; the achievement motivations of senior high school students do have significant difference in genders and male students have higher achievement motivations than female students; the achievement motivations of students studying science and students studying arts have difference closely to significant difference; motivation to pursue success has negative correlation with motivation to avoid failure. Schools, gender and science type do not have cross functions on achievement motivations.

Dispersibility, Shape and Magnetic Properties of Nano-Fe3O4 Particles  [PDF]

Abstract: Nano-Fe3O4 particles were prepared by a two-step microemulsion method, the influence of molar ratio of water to NP-5 (R), alkali concentration and temperature on dispersibility and shape of the nanoparticles were discussed. Magnetic studies were also carried out using VSM in this paper. It was found that the optimum preparation parameters are R = 6.0, alkali concentration = 2.5 mol.L–1, initial total iron concentration as 0.88 mol.L–1, and the temperature being 30°C, the prepared nano magnetite particles have uniform size and good dispersibility with a crystal structure belonging to cubicFe3O4 and lattice parameters of a = 8.273 Å. The results of magnetic studies show, magnetic properties of particles are influenced by dispersibility of nanoparticles which depends on size of clusters. The better dispersibility of nanoparticles leads to more ordered inner magnetic vector, and so the stronger magnetic behavior of nano-Fe3O4 particles.

Abstract: Astragalus polysaccharide (AP) is the extraction of astragalus, which is a plant used in traditional Chinese herb medicine and may increase an orgainism’s resistance to stress. Several earlier studies in vitro have indicated that AP has anti-aging activities, however the mechanism underlyling these activities was unclear and remained to be elucidated. In this study, Using the zebrafish (Danio rerio), we evaluated molecular mechanism of the effect of AP on zebrafish growth, development and apoptosis. 30 zebrafish embryos (24 hours post fertilization (hpf)) were exposed to varying concentrations of AP (from 0.125 mg/ml to 0. 5 mg/ml) continuously for 3 days. The results of β-galactosidase (SA-β-gal) and acridine orange fluorescence showed that AP can delay zebrafish embryos apoptosis under the concentration of 0.125 mg/ml. In addition, the differential gene expression of AP treated zebrafish embryos was examined by RT-PCR analysis. We found that the gene expression of mdm2 and tert were up-regulated while bax, p21 and p53 gene expression were down-regulated during early apoptosis of the zebrafish embryos mediated by AP. These results demonstrated that AP may play a role during the induction of senescence and this function might by p53-mediated pathway.

Abstract: This paper tries to analyze Chinese three types of bank’s efficiency changes and differences, after the financial crisis, through the integrated use of DEA and super efficiency DEA method. The results show that: the efficiency of Chinese commercial Banks in general is on the rise, the comprehensive technical efficiency growth stems mainly from scale efficiency improvement, pure technical efficiency is stagnant, and scale efficiency presents convergence among all kinds of banks, while the technical level is the core strength of banks’ current and future competition. State-owned banks with the technology competitive advantage and scale efficiency improved, began to catch up with other banks, reversed the operational inefficiency; City commercial banks due to the system advantage were more easily to be in the efficient production frontier surface.

Abstract: Equations of the reaction-diffusion type are very well known and have been extensively studied in many research areas. In this paper, the prolongation structures for the system of the reaction-diffusion type are investigated from theory of coverings. The realizations and the classifications of the one-dimensional coverings of the system are researched. And the corresponding conservation law of the one-dimensional Abelian coverings is concluded, which is closely connected with the symmetry of the system by Noether theorem.
