Abstract: Objective To examine the relationship between sex hormone–binding globulin (SHBG) and the metabolic syndrome (MetS) in pre-elderly and elderly men in China. Methods A cross-sectional study was done among 437 men, aged 45 to 94 years old. Early morning fasting sera were assayed for total testosterone (TT), SHBG and other biochemical markers. Free testosterone (FT) was calculated. Results The SHBG level of the MetS group was significantly lower than those without MetS 35.70 (25.18, 47.10) nmol/L vs. 41.90 (31.80, 55.20) nmol/L; P < 0.001). As the number of MetS components increases, SHBG and TT levels became lower. SHBG correlated with age, as did TT and most of metabolic components. Body mass index (BMI), high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C), triglyceride (TG), and TT remained independently associated with SHBG by multivariate regression analysis. In a logistic regression taking MetS as the dependent variable, SHBG (95% confidence interval (95% CI): 0.975?0.994, P = 0.018) and homeostasis model assessment for insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) (95%CI: 1.535?2.647, P < 0.001) were included in the final model. Conclusions Lower SHBG is independently associated with MetS among pre-elderly and elderly men. SHBG may be an independent predictor of MetS, but the mechanism of how SHBG is involved in MetS requires further studied.
The $K^{\ast 0}Λ$ photoproduction off a neutron

Abstract: Inspired by the preliminary experimental data by the CLAS Collaboration, the $K^{\ast 0}\Lambda$ photoproduction off a neutron is studied within an effective Lagrangian approach. The contributions from the Born terms including $s$, $u$, and $t$ channels are considered to calculate the amplitude, with which the cross sections are calculated and compared with preliminary CLAS data. The theoretical results indicate that the contribution from the $K$-exchange $t$ channel plays a dominant role for the $K^{\ast 0}\Lambda$ photoproduction. The contribution from the $\kappa$ exchange is found one order of magnitude smaller than that from $K$ exchange. Both the Regge model and the Feynman model are applied to treat the $t$-channel contribution. The discrepancy between two models is found small in the energy range of CLAS data and predicted to become obvious at energies higher than 3 GeV. More precise experimental data especially at backward angles will be helpful to further understand the interaction mechanism of the $K^{\ast 0}\Lambda$ photoproduction.

Abstract: Organic triazophos wastewater was continuously treated with Rhodopseudomonas capsulatus and activated carbon and activated sludge system(PACT-AS) in a plug bioreactor. A kinetic model of PACT-AS wastewater treatment system was established to provide an useful basis for further simulate scale-up treatment of toxic organic wastewater.
Effect of bacterivorous nematode on soil microbial biomass and microbiocoen-(osis)

Abstract: Researches on the interaction between nematodes and microbes were usually carried out in gnotobiotic microcosm, in order to know the interaction in open soil system, we inoculated bacterivorous nematode (Protorhabditis sp) into the open soil system with and without wheat to study the effects of bacterivorous nematodes and their interactions with roots on soil microbial biomass and microriocoenosis at different growth stages of wheat. The results indicated that, the inoculation of bacterivorous nematodes increased the content of SMBC, SMBN and SMBP by 26.4%, 32.9% and 21.8% respectively, and the difference were obviously in most treatments except some treatments of bulk soil and soil without plant. The content of SMBC, SMBN and SMBP in rhizosphere soil were much more than that in the bulk soil and soil without plant. The influence of nematode inoculation on SMBC, SMBN and SMBP was in the sequence of SMBN> SMBC> SMBP, and the influence of nematode inoculation on SMBC was most obvious in rhizosphere soil. The inoculation of bacterivorous nematodes had significant effects on bacteria, fungi and actinomycetes number. The bacteria number significantly increased in treatments with nematodes except in rhizosphere soil at seedling stage of wheat. The influence of nematode inoculation on fungi and actinomycetes number was bigger than on bacteria number, the fungi and actinomycetes number were increased by 48.5% and 68.2% respectively. There was no significant correlation between bacteria number and SMBC content in all treatments, while there were significant correlation between fungi number and SMBC content in rhizosphere soil and bulk soil and significant correlation between actinomycetes number and SMBC content in soil without plant.

Abstract: 通过对青海湖湖东地区土壤和牧草矿物质元素含量的分析,发现该区严重缺硒.然而,生存于湖东地区的普氏原羚却不见缺硒表症,普氏原羚在长期的进化过程中适应了缺硒环境.提出假说:普氏原羚应对硒胁迫的主要对策是选择采食高硒植物, 在湖东地区,牧草硒含量是影响普氏原羚选择食物的主要因素.得出结论:在湖东地区,芨芨草是普氏原羚的基本食物,同时是主要的高硒植物.普氏原羚应对硒胁迫的主要对策是选择芨芨草草地作为采食地,增加高硒植物芨芨草在食物中的比例.也不是嗜食或喜食高硒植物.

Abstract: 国民政府时期的西北开发分抗战前和抗战时两个阶段,战前的开发是战时开发的基础,战时的开发是战前开发的继续.国民政府战前的西北开发固然取得了一些成就,但也存在不少问题,其中有资金、人才不足的客观因素,也有建设经验不足、急功近利的主观原因.而国民政府战时再掀的西北开发热潮,则是在总结了前期开发教训基础上,将抗战与建国并举,以抗战促进开发,以开发支持抗战,贯彻因地制宜、合理开发原则,取得的实绩充分证明了西北建设必须坚持科学指导、理性开发的重要性.
LASING FROM A DYE-DOPED PENDANT DROP AND ITS PRECESSION

Abstract: We have observed lasing from the rim of dye-doped ethylene glycol pendant drops. Spatial-resolved spectral measurements show that the lasing wavelength varies along a vertical rim of the drop. Time-resolved measurements indicate that lasing precession occurs within the drop. Various lasing patterns due to lasing precession are explained. The measured precession periods for different pumping points are in good agreement with the calculated values based on morphology-dependent resonance theory.

For such objects, the technique of point -based rendering brings both high efficiency and high quality. This paper discu ssed the concept of point model, followed by an introduction to the base idea an d base steps, and acceleration of point-based rendering. Presents a prospect of its future research.
A New Method for Calculating Transient Electromagnetic Responses of AC/DC Power System with External Electromagnetic Pulse Interference

Abstract: In this paper, a new method for calculating transient electromagnetic responses of AC/DC power system with external electromagnetic pulse interference is proposed. An input-output model of three-phase bridge rectifier is presented for the transient calculation. In order to study the effect of the external electromagnetic pulse on the system, the field-to-line coupling model is introduced, and finite-difference time-domain method is adopted. Thus, the modeling method utilizes the analysis methods of the electric circuits and electromagnetic fields synthetically to deal with the coupled field-circuit problems. The model and algorithm are validated by comparing the calculation results with the experiment ones. Finally, the effects of some circuit parameters on transient responses are discussed. The method proposed in this paper lays the foundation for further researches on the transient electromagnetic performance of independent electrical power systems containing power electronics.
