Energy Optimal Interpolation in Quantum Evolution

Abstract: We introduce the concept of interpolation in quantum evolution and present a general framework to find the energy optimal Hamiltonian for a quantum system evolving among a given set of middle states using variational and geometric methods. A few special cases are carefully studied. The quantum brachistochrone problem is proved as a special case.

Abstract: We introduce the Fourier-Cosine method for pricing and hedging insurance derivatives. We implement this method for a particular problem of variable annuities under the Black-Scholes model for the investment account. The numerical results show the reliability of the Fourier-Cosine method for pricing and hedging insurance derivatives.

Abstract: The title compound, C21H18N2O2, was synthesized using a novel tandem annulation reaction between (1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)(phenyl)methanone and (E)-ethyl 4-bromobut-2-enoate under mild conditions. The dihedral angles between the mean planes of the five-membered imidazole ring and the pyridine, benzene and phenyl rings are 0.45 (6), 1.69 (1) and 70.96 (8)°, respectively. In the crystal, molecules are linked through intermolecular C—H...N hydrogen bonds.
Can Maxwell's Fish Eye Lens Really Give Perfect Imaging? Part II. the Case with Passive Drains

Abstract: We use both FEM (finite element method) and FDTD (finite difference time domain method) to simulate the field distribution in Maxwell's fish eye lens with one or more passive drains around the image point. We use the same Maxwell's fish eye lens structure as the one used in recent microwave experiment [arXiv:1007.2530]: Maxwell's fish eye lens bounded by PEC (perfect electric conductor) is inserted between two parallel PEC plates (as a waveguide structure). Our simulation results indicate that if one uses an active coaxial cable as the object and set an array of passive drains around the image region, what one obtains is not an image of the object but only multiple spots resembling the array of passive drains. The resolution of Maxwell's fish eye is finite even with such passive drains at the image locations. We also found that the subwavelength spot around the passive drain is due to the local field enhancement of the metal tip of the drain rather than the fish eye medium or the ability of the drain in extracting waves.

An intramolecular O—H...N hydrogen bond is observed in the Schiff base molecule. In the crystal structure, the Schiff base and solvent molecules are linked into chains running along the a axis by intermolecular O—H...O and N—H...O hydrogen bonds.

The dihedral angle between the two substituted benzene rings is 68.3 (2)°. In the crystal structure, inversion dimers linked by pairs of N—H...O hydrogen bonds occur.
Relationship Between Normal Reference Value of Standards Bicarbonate and Geography Distributing Rule in China

Abstract: To reveal the geography distributing regularity of normal reference value of Chinese Standards bicarbonate and provide scientific basis for making its unified standards, this paper has collected 12803 cases of normal reference value of Standards bicarbonate throughout China. In the application of the method of related analysis and regression analysis, it is found that the correlation of geographical factors (altitude, annual sunshine duration, average annual temperature,annual average relative humidity, annual precipitation )and the Chinese normal reference value of standards bicarbonate are quite significant. In the application of the method of remove in SPSS software, multiple linear regressions between normal reference value of Chinese standards bicarbonate and geographical factors, one regression equation is inferred:y=21.84+0.151 5x-0.000 830 0x5±1.040 3. In the above equation , y is normal reference value of Chinese standards bicarbonate (mmol/L), x3 is Average annual temperature (℃),x5 is Annual precipitation (mm), 1.0403 is the value of the residual standard deviations . 1288 observation points of normal reference value of Chinese standards bicarbonate have been calculated in China by using this equation.The normal reference value of Chinese standards bicarbonate distribution map has been made by using spatial analysis of GIS. If Chinese standards bicarbonate is wanted to know in some certainarea, the normal reference value of Chinese standards bicarbonate of this area can be reckoned by using the regression equations or the inspection map.
Analysis on the Cause of Mayang Stream’s Mountain Torrent Disaster of the Typhoon Meranti (201614)  [PDF]

Abstract: Based on the flood area hydrodynamic model, this paper backs the analysis of the risk warning point of the Mayang Stream in the typical flood process, to determine the disaster-caused critical precipitation and the corresponding flood risk map at different depths of submergence. The result is used as the mountain torrent disaster monitoring and warning indicators and risk assessment of the Mayang Stream. Then based on the flood risk warning service system of small and middle rivers of Fujian Province, the risk warning service of mountain torrent disaster is developed during the impact time of Meranti in 2016. After the process of typhoon, the mountain torrent caused by Meranti was back analyzed by using the decided flood area model, then compared with the results of filed investigation to verify the accuracy of the disaster-caused critical precipitation forecast and the effect of monitoring and early warning services. The result shows that the cause of Mayang Stream’s mountain torrent disaster of the typhoon Meranti is the heavy rainfall and the strong wind. The highest mountain torrent disaster was forecasted by the refine precipitation based on the disaster-caused critical rainfall of the Mayang Stream. The simulated flood scenarios and the field trip’s results were basically matched in upstream and not matched in the downstream. The post-mountain simulation assessment also showed that the flood inundation range basically matched with reality, but the flood process was biased. The reason was that in addition to the differences between the surface rainfall forecast and the real situation, many actual situations cannot be ignored. For example, Meranti caused serious damage to trees, increased river blockages, resulting in changes in flood inundation time and depth, affecting the flood process. It showed the tourism development would cause the river way blocking and increase the risk of flood. In order to prevent and reduce the flood disasters accurately and effectively, the flood risk forecast and the disaster-caused facts should be considered at the same time.

Abstract: Suction bucket foundations can be divided into four compartments by cruciform internal bulkheads,thereby yielding better capacity in certain conditions than those without internal bulkheads.As yet,no systematic study has been conducted regarding the effects of cruciform internal bulkheads on the capacities of suction bucket foundations.In this study,we established a large number of finite element models of suction bucket foundations with and without cruciform internal bulkheads and of solid embedded circular foundations.We found the uniaxial capacities and failure modes of suction bucket foundations with various depth ratios to remain basically unaffected by internal bulkheads in uniform clays.However,in inhomogeneous clay with high strength heterogeneity,we observed the uniaxial moment and horizontal capacities and corresponding failure modes of suction bucket foundations with a low depth ratio to be obviously affected by internal bulkheads.In this case,the uniaxial moment capacities,in particular,as well as the horizontal capacities of suction bucket foundations with cruciform internal bulkheads become obviously greater than those without internal bulkheads.Under combined loading,we found the failure envelopes of suction bucket foundations with and without cruciform internal bulkheads and of solid circular foundation to also be basically consistent in uniform clays.However,in inhomogeneous clay with high strength heterogeneity,cruciform internal bulkheads can obviously change the shapes of the failure envelopes of bucket foundations with a small depth ratio.We conclude that when the acting vertical load or foundation depth is relatively small,suction bucket foundations with cruciform internal bulkheads can be subjected to larger moment and horizontal loads in soft clays with high strength heterogeneity
