The Periodic Solitary Wave Solutions for the (2 + 1)-Dimensional Fifth-Order KdV Equation  [PDF]

Abstract:

The (2 + 1)-dimensional fifth-order KdV equation is an important higher-dimensional and higher-order extension of the famous KdV equation in fluid dynamics. In this paper, by constructing new test functions, we investigate the periodic solitary wave solutions for the (2 + 1)-dimensional fifth-order KdV equation by virtue of the Hirota bilinear form. Several novel analytic solutions for such a model are obtained and verified with the help of symbolic computation.

Abstract:

The Benjamin-ono (BO) equation is an important nonlinear wave model which can describe the deep oceanic internal wave propagation. In this paper, the multi-algebraic solitary wave solutions for the internal wave BO equation including the linear velocity term in matrix form are given by the bilinear form. Based on the analytic solutions of the BO equation obtained in this paper and considering the hydrological parameters, the propagation of one-solitary wave and different kinds of interaction for the two-solitary waves are discussed and illustrated.

An Adaptive Approach of Satellite Baseline Estimation in InSAR  [PDF]

Abstract: Baseline is an important parameter of radar interferometry. Generally, it can be estimated by satellite orbital data or ground control points. In this paper, an adaptive method is proposed to estimate it with combination satellite orbital data, and the accuracy of baseline estimated can be improved without ground control points; actual data of ERS and ENVISAT ASAR have been used in algorithm development and the final obtained elevation shows that the precise orbit data is more accurate than original orbit data in estimating baseline.

Abstract:

The phenomena of polarization rotation induced by self-modulation in semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) are analyzed theoretically. The relationship between polarization parameters and gain as well as phase is obtained by the correlation parameter of ellipse polarization and SOA nonlinearity polarization rotation theory. The experiment employs polarizer drive by walking electromotor and power meter, the light power of 360 degree is measured. The transformation law of output polarization power components is found for obvious polarization rotation in the selected coordinate axes based on connection of polarization state in difference axes. Using this law make the manipulation easily on getting ideal polarization state. It can offer a fine method to realize all-optical switch and other logic elements in experiment. This work is of great significance for the applications of SOA nonlinear polarization rotation at high-speed all-optical signal processing and all-optical logic gate.

Abstract: RAPD was used to analyze the polymorphism ofBothriocephalus parasitic in grass carp and common carp from Guangdong, Fujian and Gansu and in Ma Kou Yu from Fujian. Though there exist differences in geographical distribution and host specificity betweenBothriocephulus parasitic in grass carp and common carp, RAPD analysis shows high similarity (72.3%–96.3%) in DNA between them, whereas betweenBothriocephalus parasitic in Ma Kou Yu and in grass carp and common carp low similarity (24%-28.2%) was noticed. Hence,Bothriocephalus parasitic in Ma Kou Yu andBothriocephalus parasitic in grass carp and common carp should be regarded as separate species.

Numerical Method for a Markov-Modulated Risk Model with Two-Sided Jumps

Abstract: This paper considers a perturbed Markov-modulated risk model with two-sided jumps, where both the upward and downward jumps follow arbitrary distribution. We first derive a system of differential equations for the Gerber-Shiu function. Furthermore, a numerical result is given based on Chebyshev polynomial approximation. Finally, an example is provided to illustrate the method. 1. Introduction The risk model with two-sided jumps was first proposed by Boucherie et al. [1] and has been further investigated by many authors during the last few years. For example, Kou and Wang [2] studied the Laplace transform of the first passage time and the overshoot for a perturbed compound Poisson model with double exponential jumps. Xing et al. [3] extended the results of Kou and Wang [2] to the case that the surplus process with phase-type downward and arbitrary upward jumps. Zhang et al. [4] assumed that the downward jumps follow arbitrary distribution and the upward jumps have a rational Laplace transform. They derived the Laplace transform of the Gerber-Shiu function by using the roots of the generalized Lundberg equation. Under the assumption that the upward jumps follow Laplace distribution and arbitrary downward jumps, Chi [5] obtained a closed-form expression for the Gerber-Shiu function by applying Wiener-Hopf factorization technique. The applications of the model in finance were also discussed. Jacobsen [6] studied a perturbed renewal risk model with phase-type interclaim times and two-sided jumps, where both the jumps have rational Laplace transforms. Based on the roots of the Cramér-Lundberg equation, the joint Laplace transform on the time to ruin, and the undershoot at ruin were given. However, in all the aforemetioned papers, the topic that the jumps in both directions are arbitrary distributions is still not discussed. The Markov-modulated risk model (Markovian regime switching model) was first proposed by Asmussen [7] to extend the classical risk model. Since then, it has received remarkable attention in actuarial mathematics, see, for example, Zhu and Yang [8, 9], Zhang et al. [4], Ng and Yang [10], Li and Lu [11], Lu and Tsai [12], and references therein. Motivated by the papers mentioned above, in this paper, we will study the Markov-modulated risk model with two-sided jumps.
