Isorosthornins A-C, new ent-kaurane diterpenoids from Isodon rosthornii

Abstract: Three new ent-kauranoids, isorosthornins A-C (1–3), and a new natural product, dihydroponicidin (4), together with five known ones were isolated from the aerial parts of Isodon rosthornii. The structures were determined by means of extensive spectroscopic analysis. All diterpenoids isolated were evaluated for their cytotoxicity against HL-60, SMMC-7721, A-549, MCF-7, and SW480 cell lines, and compounds 5 and 7 showed significant inhibitory effects on all cell lines.
Distribution of A factor and the colony phenotype in single spore isolates of Volvariella volvacea

Abstract: In order to verify the genetic character of Volvariella volvacea, 124 single spore isolates of the strain V23 were selected. Colony morphology on the flat plate was observed. Two kinds of colony phenotype were roughly divided: aerial type (44 isolates) and creeping type (80 isolates). PCR amplification and molecular markers associated with mating factors were used for testing and verifing the distribution of A1 and A2 factors. Among all the dicaryotic strains, the number of homokaryon was 101 and heterokaryon 23, with the proportion of 81.45% and 18.55%, respectively. The number of isolates with A1 factor was 20 amounting to 45.45% of the aerial type isolates. The number of isolates with A2 factor was 15 amounting to 34.09% of the aerial type isolates. The number of creeping type isolates with A1 factor was 15 amounting to 18.75% of creeping type isolates. A2 factor was predominant in creeping type isolates and there were 51, sharing 63.75%. There is no connection between A factor and colony phenotype. Through crossing between isolates of different phenotype with different A factor and then screening by PCR, we obtained true 20 hybrids. The proportion of aerial type to creeping type is 1:1. As long as the aerial type took part in the hybridization, the majority of the colony phenotype in the hybrids was aerial. Hybridization between isolates of creeping type resulted in that the majority of the phenotype in the hybrids was creeping. Fruiting experiment of 8 hybrids selected showed that, only one could fruit.

Dynamic Impact Mechanism of Birth Rate and GDP in Liaoning Province

Abstract: This paper's objective is to study the issue of impact mechanism of birth rate between Liaoning province and China integrating unit root test, cointegrating test, vector error correction model (VECM), generalized impulse response function and variance decomposition. After selecting the data of birth rate, infant mortality rate and real GDP per capita of Liaoning province and China, we’ve found that: (1) The log series of birth rate, infant mortality and real GDP per capita are integrated of order one; (2) Long-term co-integration relationships exist among these three series, and the impacts of infant mortality rate and GDP per capita on birth rate are more significant in Liaoning province; (3) According to VECM, the adjustment of birth rate in Liaoning province is 0.09067971446 while it is 0.463901315 in China, which means self- regulatory ability of birth rate in Liaoning province is relatively weak; (4) According to generalized impulse response function and variance decomposition in the short-term birth rate fluctuation of Liaoning isn’t affected by infant mortality rate and GDP per capita while in the national level the effect is great. The conclusions and suggestions are: (1) China is in the period of “Demographic window of opportunity” nowadays so high-speed economic growth and low birth rate are both necessary. China should improve professional education and training to build the harmonious society; (2) Remove obstacles of labor migration in order that the most active factor of production – labor force can flow into Liaoning freely, therefore, we can improve the allocative efficiency without a larger population. Abstract: This paper considers how to coordinate a supply chain (SC) consisted of one supplier and one retailer who possess different risk aversion preference with a contract. Based on the classical buy-back contract, this paper presents an extended buy-back contract. In addition to the member’s objective of maximizing his expected profit, downside risk constraint is used to represent the SC member’s risk aversion preference. Under different risk aversion preference combination, the SC perfect solution existence conditions are identified and the specific contract is provided accordingly. This research finds out that, with a low risk aversion supplier and a high risk aversion retailer, the supplier as the SC coordinator can give the retailer incentive to increase the order quantity so as to reach SC perfect coordination. Finally a numerical analysis verifies the effectiveness of the extended buy-back contract.

Abstract: This paper presents a new type of circulant matrices. We call it the first and the last difference r-circulant matrix (FLDcircr matrix). We can verify that the linear operation, the matrix product and the inverse matrix of this type of matrices are still FLDcircr matrices. By constructing the basic FLDcircr matrix, we give the discriminance for FLDcircr matrices and the fast algorithm of the inverse and generalized inverse of the FLDcircr matrices.
Producing infectious enterovirus type 71 in a rapid strategy

Abstract: A long distance RT-PCR assay was developed to amplify the full length genome cDNA of EV71 by using specific primes carrying a SP6 promoter. Then the in vitro synthesized RNA transcripts from the RT-PCR amplicons were then transfected into RD cells to produce the rescued virus. The rescued virus was further characterized by RT-PCR and indirect fluorescent-antibody (IFA) assay in comparison with the wild type virus. The rescued viruses were infectious on RD cells and neurovirulent when intracerebrally injected into suckling mice.Thus, we established a rapid method to produce the infectious full length cDNA of EV71 directly from RNA preparations and specific mutations can be easily engineered into the rescued enterovirus genome by this method.Enterovirus 71 (EV71) is the major causative agent of hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD), and may cause various neurological diseases, such as aseptic meningitis, acute flaccid paralysis and fatal encephalitis [1]. In recent years, epidemic and sporadic outbreaks of neurovirulent EV71 infections have been reported throughout the world, representing a major public health concern [2]. EV71 has become one of the most important enteroviruses known to cause fatalities in children. Therefore, understanding its virology, epidemiology, diagnosis, and prevention is of particularly importance [3].EV71 belongs to human enterovirus species A of the genus Enterovirus within the family Picornaviridae, and it contains a single-stranded positive genome RNA of about 7,400 bp in length which is infectious when introduced into cell culture. The single open reading frame (ORF) encodes a polyprotein and is flanked by untranslated regions (UTR) at the 5' and 3' ends; a variable length poly-A tract is located at the terminus of the 3'UTR. The hardness-duration correlation in the two classes of gamma-ray bursts

Abstract: The well-known hardness-duration correlation of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) is investigated with the data of the 4B catalog. We find that, while the hardness ratio and the duration are obviously correlated for the entire set of the 4B catalog, they are not at all correlated for the two subsets divided at the duration of 2 seconds. However, for other subsets with comparable sizes, the two quantities are significantly correlated. The following conclusions are then reached: (1) the existence of two classes of GRBs is confirmed; (2) the hardness ratio and the duration are not at all correlated for any of the two classes; (3) different classes of GRBs have different distributions of the hardness ratio and the duration and it is this difference that causes the correlation between the two quantities for the entire set of the bursts.
Severe acute cholangitis after endoscopic sphincterotomy induced by barium examination: A case report

Abstract: Endoscopic sphincterotomy (EST) is considered as a possible etiological factor for severe cholangitis. We herein report a case of severe cholangitis after endoscopic sphincterotomy induced by barium examination. An adult male patient presented with epigastric pain was diagnosed as having choledocholithiasis by ultrasonography. EST was performed and the stone was completely cleaned. Barium examination was done 3 d after EST and severe cholangitis appeared 4 h later. The patient was recovered after treated with tienam for 4 d. Barium examination may induce severe cholangitis in patients after EST, although rare, barium examination should be chosen cautiously. Cautions should be also used when EST is performed in patients younger than 50 years to avoid the damage to the sphincter of Oddi.

Abstract: The jade dagger-axe is a significant ritual artifact in prehistoric China and therefore has been the subject of much discussion among archaeologists and historians. The authors compare the jade dagger-axe and the axe in terms of the morphological features, the means of hafting, and the use in burial ritual. It appears that the shape of the jade dagger-axe is the result of improving the axe. The means of hafting the jade dagger-axe is generally identical to that of the axe. The ritualization of the jade dagger-axe follows that of the axe. Therefore, the jade dagger-axe may have originated from the axe.
