The Influence of Female Executives on Corporate Behavior and Performance: A Review  [PDF]
Meng Tang, Jun Xu
Journal of Human Resource and Sustainability Studies (JHRSS) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/jhrss.2015.33018
Abstract: In recent years, the quantity of female executives in the companies is rising, some countries even raising a mandatory requirement about the proportion of female executives on the company. Women are increasingly attracting the attention of theory and practice fields, so does the discussion of the role of senior women. This article reviews the research about how female executives influence the corporate behavior and performance from the perspective of finance and non-finance, analyses the deficiency of related research and points out the direction for future research.
13C NMR Spectral Prediction by Means of Generalized Atom Center Fragment Method
Jun Xu
Molecules , 1997, DOI: 10.3390/20800114
Abstract: Knowledge-based NMR spectral prediction relies on the correlations between substructures and sub-spectra. To extract the correlations, a systematic substructure measurement has been developed to classify substructures according to their chemical shift values. Historically, the atom center fragment (ACF) concept has been used as a means to systematically measure substructures for NMR spectral prediction. The assumption behind this concept is that the chemical shift value of an atom is influenced by its chemical environment. Based upon the study of the ACF-type approaches, a generalized atom center fragment (GACF) approach is proposed in this paper. In the GACF approach, a substructure consists of a center atom, core layer, and external layers. The center atom and the core layer, are identified as the super center atom. The external layers are the chemical environment. A number of algorithms have been developed to measure GACF substructures from a structure database, and create the NMR knowledge base for NMR spectral prediction.
N′-(2,6-Dichlorobenzylidene)furan-2-carbohydrazide
Jun Xu
Acta Crystallographica Section E , 2012, DOI: 10.1107/s160053681201639x
Abstract: In the title compound, C12H8Cl2N2O2, the dihedral angle between the furan and benzene rings is 72.90 (16)°. In the crystal, molecules are linked by N—H...O hydrogen bonds, generating C(4) chains propagating in [100].
On the Techniques of English Fast-reading
Jun Xu
Theory and Practice in Language Studies , 2011, DOI: 10.4304/tpls.1.10.1416-1419
Abstract: With the deepening reform of English language teaching and English major talents cultivation and the application of new English exam module, English fast-reading plays a more significant role in life, work and learning. This paper points out the significance of English reading, in particular fast-reading, analyzes the problems existing in students’ reading competence and proposes approaches and strategies to improve reading competence.
The Application of Critical Thinking in Teaching English Reading
Jun Xu
Theory and Practice in Language Studies , 2011, DOI: 10.4304/tpls.1.2.136-141
Abstract: Examining different critical thinking definitions, one thing is agreed upon by most researchers: that is critical thinking includes not only critical thinking skills (containing both a process of thinking and thinking ability), involving analysis, interpretation, inference, explanation, evaluation and self-regulation but also critical thinking dispositions including clarity, accuracy, precision, consistency, relevance, sound evidence, good reasons, depth, breadth, fairness. So a new way to teach English reading focusing on developing students’ critical thinking should be proposed. Students should be trained to be critical readers who can “question, organize, interpret, synthesize, and digest what they read”
Brief Analysis on Cross-cultural Communication
Jun Xu
Theory and Practice in Language Studies , 2011, DOI: 10.4304/tpls.1.7.884-887
Abstract: It is impossible to completely separate the theoretical study of intercultural and cross-cultural communication. Gudykunst states that before the late 1970s when he began his doctoral studies, there were few, if any, reliable and valid theories for the study of either type of communication. Perhaps then there were only trends in research. As the study of intercultural and cross-cultural theories has matured many new actual theories have been developed, tested., and confirmed or disconfirmed. Still more cross-cultural theories will develop over time which can be tested in a reliable and valid manner.
On The Problems and Strategies of Multimedia Technology in English Teaching
Jun Xu
Journal of Language Teaching and Research , 2010, DOI: 10.4304/jltr.1.3.215-218
Abstract: The rapid rising and development of Information Technology offered a better pattern to explore the new teaching model. As a result, multimedia technology plays an important role in English teaching. However, some teachers rely so much on the technology that the disadvantage emerges in the teaching process. In order to make more efficient use of the technology and the practical value in English teaching, the paper put forward positive suggestion and strategy by analyzing the problems in the use of multimedia technology.
A Brief Analysis of the Hero’s Withdrawing from the Business of the World in 1900
Jun Xu
Journal of Language Teaching and Research , 2012, DOI: 10.4304/jltr.3.1.211-214
Abstract: 1900 is adopted from a monologue novel that written by an Italian writer Alessandro Baricco in 1994. This paper mainly focuses on the spirit of withdrawing from the business of the world of 1900. His rejecting secular life, love and life manifests this, he chooses to withdraw from the business of the world due to the following reasons: he has a different value orientation; he has a unique love with the sea, ship and the piano; he fears about the uncertainty of the land and he sticks to the border in his heart. His spirit can inspire people to lead a free and happy life.
Shear viscosity of nuclear matter
Jun Xu
Physics , 2013,
Abstract: In this talk I report my recent study on the shear viscosity of neutron-rich nuclear matter from a relaxation time approach. An isospin- and momentum-dependent interaction is used in the study. Effects of density, temperature, and isospin asymmetry of nuclear matter on its shear viscosity have been discussed. Similar to the symmetry energy, the symmetry shear viscosity is defined and its density and temperature dependence are studied.
Isospin splitting of nucleon effective mass and shear viscosity of nuclear matter
Jun Xu
Physics , 2015, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevC.91.037601
Abstract: Based on an improved isospin- and momentum-dependent interaction, we have studied the qualitative effect of isospin splitting of nucleon effective mass on the specific shear viscosity of neutron-rich nuclear matter from a relaxation time approach. It is seen that for $m_n^\star>m_p^\star$, the relaxation time of neutrons is smaller and the neutron flux between flow layers is weaker, leading to a smaller specific shear viscosity of neutron-rich matter compared to the case for $m_n^\star
