Abstract: On the basis of phase transformation kinetics, the transformation of γ→α,P,B have been investigated through considering the effect of deformation. The calculation methods of volume fraction have also been given. Comparing with common method, the simulated results are in more agreement with experiment results.
Connexin domains relevant to the chemical gating of gap junction channels

Abstract: Most cells exchange ions and small metabolites via gap junction channels. These channels are made of two hemichannels (connexons), each formed by the radial arrangement of six connexin (Cx) proteins. Connexins span the bilayer four times (M1-M4) and have both amino- and carboxy-termini (NT, CT) at the cytoplasmic side of the membrane, forming two extracellular loops (E1, E2) and one inner (IL) loop. The channels are regulated by gates that close with cytosolic acidification (e.g., CO2 treatment) or increased calcium concentration, possibly via calmodulin activation. Although gap junction regulation is still unclear, connexin domains involved in gating are being defined. We have recently focused on the CO2 gating sensitivity of Cx32, Cx38 and various mutants and chimeras expressed in Xenopus oocytes and studied by double voltage clamp. Cx32 is weakly sensitive to CO2, whereas Cx38 is highly sensitive. A Cx32 chimera containing the second half of the inner loop (IL2) of Cx38 was as sensitive to CO2 as Cx38, indicating that this domain plays an important role. Deletion of CT by 84% did not affect CO2 sensitivity, but replacement of 5 arginines (R) with sparagines (N) at the beginning of CT (C1) greatly enhanced the CO2 sensitivity of Cx32. This suggests that whereas most of CT is irrelevant, positive charges of C1 maintain the CO2 sensitivity of Cx32 low. As a hypothesis we have proposed a model that involves charge interaction between negative residues of the beginning of IL1 and positive residues of either C1 or IL2. Abstract: The Ti-48Al alloy was pack siliconized with 15%Si+85%Al2 O3. The microstructure of the siliconized coating on the TiAl-based alloy was analyzed and its effect on oxidation resistance was investigated. The specimens before and after cycle oxidation were examined by XRD and SEM equipped with XEDS. The results showed that the coating is composed of a thin Al2 O3 outer layer and a composite inner layer of Ti5Si3 with an appropriate amount of Al2 O3 dispersed in. Cycle oxidation tests showed that the high temperature oxidation resistance of TiAl-based alloy was greatly improved by forming such composite coating. No spallation and crack happened and the weight gain was very small after cycle oxidation at 900℃ for 314h.

Abstract: The surface modification of nanometer carbon material has been studied by using an Induced Dielectric Barrier Discharge Plasma device (IDBD). The experimental results show that with different work gases and different discharge conditions, the surface behaviors of carbon black can be changed according to needs, including the use of different functional groups and the change of the surface roughness of carbon particles etc., which increased the grinding and dispersion abilities in binder.

Abstract: In this paper,part of the research and development work in the field of spray formed superalloys at BIAM of China is briefly summarized. With an experimental spray forming facility,whose melting capacity is suitable for making disk and columnar shaped integral-dense and clean Ni-base superalloy preforms with low oxygen content,fine grain, uniform chemistry and improved forgeability, a series of Ni-base superalloys have been spray atomized and deposited, among which three alloys have been chosen for microstructural and mechanical properties evaluation.
Design and fabrication of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets with a low temperature coefficient of intrinsic coercivity

Abstract: To decrease the temperature coefficients of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets, the influencing factors on temperature coefficients, especially the reversible temperature coefficient β of intrinsic coercivity Hcj, were analyzed. The results showed that the absolute value of β decreased with increasing Hcj and also the ratio of microstructure parameter c to Neff, indicating that the increase of magnetocrystalline anisotropy field HA and c/Neff can effectively decrease the absolute value of β. On the basis of this analysis, a sintered Nd-Fe-B magnet with a low temperature coefficient of Hcj was fabricated through composition design, and the value of β was only -0.385%/oC in the temperature interval of 20-150oC.
Semiconducting Behavior of Carbon Steel in Electrolyte Solution

Abstract: In this paper, the semiconducting behavior of carbon steel in acid, base and salt solutions was studied by utilizing potential-capacitance and Mott-Schottky analysis. It was pointed out that the capacitance variation of space charge layer of carbon steel in different solution was different. The carbon steel showed p-type semiconducting behavior in 5% sulfuric acid and 5% sodium sulfate solution. However, the carbon steel showed n-type semiconducting behavior in 5% sodium hydroxide. It was suggested that the space charge layer of the carbon steel in different electrolytes might be asymmetric.

Abstract: The kinetic model for desulfurization using CaO-based powder injection has been proposed, which accords with the actual process of the experiment. For the model, a comparison between CaO-based flux and Mg-based flux was made and the results show that the desulfurization rate of the Mg-based flux is far more than that of CaO-based flux. On the basis of the model calculation, on comparison of CaO-CaF2 flux and calcium aluminate flux, the desulfurization rates of the two fluxes are close to each other. In addition, the effects of some operational factors on the kinetics of desulfurization are discussed.
