Abstract: the influence of luminosity and of the use of refuges on the initial development of steindachneridion sp. garavello (siluriforme: pimelodidae) larvae was evaluated. a thousand larvae 18.02 mm high and 62.2 mg weight were used in an entirely randomized design, with five treatments and four replicates, in 35 l-aquarium during 22 days. the treatments consisted on the following environments: darkness without refuges, clear with artificial refuge, darkness with artificial refuge, clear with natural refuge and clear without refuge. all larvae received the same feeding during the experiment. the best survival rates were found for darkness without refuges, clear with artificial refuge and clear without refuge, with 84, 76 and 70%, respectively. the best development was in darkness and without refuges. the treatment darkness with artificial refuge provided significant differences in relation to the other treatments as far as survival and weight are concerned, showing high heterogeneity for weight. environment without refuges are the most appropriate for the larval development of this specie.

Abstract: this work was carried out at aquicultura laboratory of maringá state university, to evaluate the different processing form of diets on nile tilapia fry performance and survive, during sexual revert phase. was utilized 540 fry distributed, on completely randomized design with three treatments and six replications, in eighteen 54 l aquarium and one aquarium with 30 nile tilapia fry was considered an experimental unit. the experimental period was 28 days with average temperatures of 21.9 ± 0.1oc in the morning and 22.7 ± 0.3oc in the afternoon. the diet was formulated (38.6% of digestible protein and 3800 kcal/kg digestible energy) differing only about processing form (crumble [md], meal [nd] and pasty [pd]). no difference was observe to final weight and body condition, but to biomass production, the fry submitted of nd treatment was higher than md and pd treatments, that were equal. to survive nd and pd were equal and higher than md treatment. it was concluded that, with 0.5 mm of mealling degree, the meal diets was most adequate to nile tilapia fry, during sex revert phase.

Abstract: an assay was conducted to evaluate the development of igua?u surubim (steindachneridion melanodermatum) larvae fed different diets. the experiment was analyzed as a complete randomized design with five treatments and four replicates, in 35 l-aquaria, each one with 15 larvae (8.35±0.85 mm and 6.75±0.64 mg). the treatments consisted of five feeding programs: artemia (a); diet (d); zooplankton (z); artemia with diet (a+d); and zooplankton with diet (z+d). larvae development was evaluated in illuminated environment during 29 days. for larvae feeding evaluation, three larvae were collected every three days, in five additional aquaria for stomach content analysis. in the a+d and z+d treatments, the larvae average weight (659 and 571 mg) was significantly higher than the other treatments. the combinations of feeds resulted in better results and, in treatment r, it was observed survival rate of 1.7, that differs from the other treatments. cannibalism rate was higher in d and z treatments, with values of 60 and 25%, respectively. the a+d treatment provided the best development and the highest survival rate for steindachneridion sp larvae.

Abstract: this work aimed to evaluate different crude fiber levels on reverted nile tilapia (oreochromis niloticus, l) fingerlings performance and time of retention of food. one hundred and twenty-five fingerlings of thai strain, 1.39 ± 0.03 g of initial weight were allotted to twenty-five 54 l aquarium, at five treatments and five replications on completely randomized design. five isoenergy (3000 kcal/kg of digestible energy) and isoprotein (30% of crude protein) diets were formulated with five different crude fiber levels (3.65, 4.75, 6.00, 7.25 and 8.50%), for ranging cellulose and inert material addition. the experimental period was 64 days with 26.5oc ± 0.8 in the morning and 27.5oc ± 0.7 in the afternoon temperatures. no difference was observed to fingerlings performance (food conversion, final weight, weight gain), but a linear decrease to time of retention of food with crude fiber addition.
Digestibilidade aparente de alguns alimentos protéicos pela tilápia do Nilo (Oreochromis niloticus)

Abstract: a digestibility trial was carried out to determine the dry matter (ms), gross energy (eb) and crude protein (pb) apparent digestibility coefficients (cd) for fish meal (fp), poultry by-products meal (fv), gluten meal (gm) and alchool spray dried yeast (lv) for thai nile tilapia fingerlings. a hundred sexually reverted fishes (average weight 37.6 ± 5.0 g) were assigned to two 500-l feeding tanks and two 150-l cylindrical tanks with conical bottom, to feces collection . cd analysis was performed by the indirect method, using 0.1% chromic oxide (cr2o3), as marker. average water temperature, dissolved oxygen, ph and conductivity were 25.8 ± 1.0oc; 3.2 ± 1.4 mg/l; 6.8 ± 0.1; and 205.7 ± 16.5 μs/cm, respectively. cd of pb, eb and ms were 90.66, 89.53 and 87.63 for fp; 82.03, 72.09 and 62.21 for fv; 97.61, 93.52 and 91.01 for gm; 77.39, 62.77 and 58.68 for ls, respectively. the digestible values of protein (%) and energy (kcal/kg), as fed basis, were 53.01 and 3568.0 for fp; 47.65 and 3650.9 for fv; 65.34 and 5036.7 for gm; and 32.19 and 2706.9 for ls.

Abstract: the trial aimed to evaluate the apparent strain digestibility coefficients (cda) of dry matter (ms), gross energy (eb) and crude protein (pb) of soybean meal (fs), corn (mo), wheat (tg), wheat meal (ft), millet pearl (mt), triticale (tc), cassava meal (fm) and soybean oil (os) of nile tilapia fingerlings of thai. one hundred sexual reverted animals were used, with a mean weight of 37.61 ± 4.98g, distributed in two alimentation 500l mansory tanks and feces collect in modified guelph system in two 150l aquariums. cda was determined by an indirect method, with 0.1% chromic oxide (cr2o3) as marker. cda of ms, pb and eb was 65.49, 89.58 and 71.38 for fs; 73.22, 93.40 and 76.63 for mo; 86.51, 96.30 and 87.07 for tg; 66.79, 91.00 and 68.81 for ft; 77.96, 94.91 and 89.12 for mt; 68.51, 94.78 and 80.55 for tc; 91.11, 97.52 and 91.40% for fm, respectively, and for eb of soybean oil 89.85%, the values of digestible protein (%) and energy (kcal/kg) were 42.19 and 3057.63 for fs; 7.18 and 3037.03 for mo; 11.01 and 3423.66 for tg; 13.44 and 2825.88 ft; 13.88 and 3755.55 mt; 13.74 and 3230.69 for tc; 1.76 and 3280.09; for fm and 8485.28 kcal/kg of energy digestible for os. the results showed that the protein and energy of these foods are efficiently used by nile tilapia. to formulate complete diets the digestible protein and energy values must be used.

Abstract: aiming to evaluate different inclusion levels of cassava meal (0.00, 6.00, 12.00, 18.00 and 24.00%) in diets with 30.00% of digestible protein and 3,000 kcal/kg of digestible energy to nile tilapia fingerlings, an experiment was carried out at the aquaculture laboratory /dbi/uem. two hundred reverted thai strain nile tilapia fingerlings were utilized, with an initial weight of 0.84 g and 35 days old, distributed in 25 250l tanks, in a completely randomized design with five treatments and five replications. averages of weight gain (gp), apparent feed conversion (caa), survival (s), hepatic-somatic rate (ihs), carcass yield (rc) and fat carcass percentage (gc) were evaluated. the gp, caa, s, ihs and rc did not shew differences among treatments. gc linear decrease with an increase inclusion levels cassava meal diets (y= 12.22 ? 0.08657x; r2 = 0.77). it was concluded that cassava meal may be used in the nile tilapia fingerlings feeding up to 24% inclusion level, whole replaced the energy of corn without decrease on performance.
Farinha de Varredura de Mandioca (Manihot esculenta) na Alimenta o de Alevinos de Tilápia do Nilo (Oreochromis niloticus L.)

Abstract: Objetivando avaliar a utiliza o de diferentes níveis de inclus o de farinha de varredura de mandioca (0,00; 6,00; 12,00; 18,00 e 24,00%) em ra es com 30,00% de proteína digestível e 3000 kcal/kg de energia digestível para alevinos de tilápia do Nilo, foi realizado um experimento no Laboratório de Aqüicultura/DBI/UEM, utilizando-se 200 alevinos revertidos de tilápia do Nilo da linhagem tailandesa, com peso médio de 0,84g e 35 dias de idade, distribuídos em 25 tanques de 250L, num delineamento inteiramente casualisado com cinco tratamentos e cinco repeti es. Foram avaliadas as médias de ganho de peso (GP), convers o alimentar aparente (CAa), sobrevivência (S), índice hepato-somático (IHS), rendimento de carca a (RC) e porcentagem de gordura na carca a (GC). O GP, CAa, S, IHS e RC n o apresentaram diferen as entre os tratamentos. O GC apresentou redu o linear com o aumento nos níveis de inclus o de farinha de varredura de mandioca (Y= 12,22 - 0,08657X; r2 = 0,77). Concluiu-se que a farinha de varredura de mandioca pode ser utilizada na alimenta o de alevinos de tilápia do Nilo até o nível de 24% de inclus o, substituindo toda a energia do milho, sem causar prejuízos no desempenho dos animais.

Abstract: O experimento foi conduzido com o objetivo de avaliar os coeficientes de digestibilidade aparente (CDa) da matéria seca (MS), energia bruta (EB) e proteína bruta (PB) do farelo de soja (FS), milho (MO), trigo (TG), farelo de trigo (FT), milheto (MT), triticale (TC), farinha de varredura de mandioca (FM) e óleo de soja (OS) para tilápia do Nilo da linhagem tailandesa. Foram utilizados 100 animais revertidos sexualmente, com peso médio de 37,61 ± 4,98 g distribuídos em dois tanques de alimenta o de 500L e coleta de fezes pelo sistema modificado de Guelph em dois aquários (150 L cada). A determina o dos CDa foi realizada pelo método indireto, sendo utilizado como indicador 0,1% de óxido de cromo (Cr2O3) incorporado à ra o. Os CDa para a MS, PB e EB foram de 65,49, 89,58 e 71,38 para FS; 73,22, 93,40 e 76,63 para MO; 86,51, 96,30 e 87,07 para TG; 66,79, 91,00 e 68,81 para FT; 77,96, 94,91 e 89,12 para MT; 68,51, 94,78 e 80,55 TC; 91,11, 97,52 e 91,40% para FV, respectivamente; e para a EB do OS o CDa foi 89,85%, apresentando valores de proteína (%) e energia (kcal/kg) digestíveis de 42,19 e 3057,63 para FS; 7,18 e 3037,03 para MO; 11,01 e 3423,66 para TG; 13,44 e 2825,88 para FT; 13,88 e 3755,55 para MT; 13,74 e 3230,69 para TC; 1,76 e 3280,09 para FM, respectivamente, e 8485,28 kcal/kg de ED para o OS. Os resultados demonstraram que a tilápia do Nilo utiliza eficientemente a energia e proteína desses ingredientes. Os valores de energia e proteína digestíveis devem ser utilizados para elaborar ra es completas.

Abstract: Este experimento foi realizado no Laboratório de Aquicultura da Universidade Estadual de Maringá, objetivando avaliar ra es com diferentes formas de processamento sobre o desempenho e sobrevivência de larvas de tilápia do Nilo durante a fase de revers o sexual. Foram utilizados 540 larvas distribuídos em 18 aquários de 54 L em um delineamento completamente casualizado, com três tratamentos e seis repeti es. O período experimental foi de 28 dias a uma temperatura média de 21,9 ± 0,1oC de manh e 22,7 ± 0,3oC à tarde. Foi formulada uma ra o (38,6% de proteína digestível e 3800 kcal/kg de energia digestível) diferindo quanto à forma de processamento (farelada (RF), pastosa (RP) e micropeletizada (RM)). N o foram observadas diferen as (P>0,05) quanto ao peso final e a condi o corporal, entretanto a biomassa final das larvas alimentadas com RF foi superior, em rela o aos que receberam RP e RM. A sobrevivência das larvas que receberam RP e RF respectivamente, foram semelhantes e superiores àquelas alimentadas com RM. Portanto, conclui-se que utilizando-se a moagem dos ingredientes da ra o em peneira de 0,5 mm, para larvas de tilápia do Nilo durante a revers o sexual, a forma farelada de ra o é a mais adequada.
