Left Radial Approach versus Right Radial Approach of Coronary Angiography in the Diagnosis of Coronary Heart Disease  [PDF]

Abstract: Background: Transradial coronary angiography has established itself as safe alternative to transfemoral approach. Today, the artery of approach lies completely on the operator’s choice. The Right Radial Approach (RRA) has been a favorite for most of the interventional cardiologists due to the convenience in operating from the right side. The Left Radial Approach (LRA) has always been a neglected route. LRA does have many advantages over the right, the vascular anatomy being one of them. The aim of our study was to compare the right radial approach of diagnostic coronary angiography with left radial approach. Method: A total of 70 cases of Coronary Angiography (CAG) with normal Allen test and satisfying the inclusion criteria were prospectively observed and studied after randomly assigning them into two equal groups, LRA (Left Radial Approach) n = 35 and RRA (Right Radial Approach) n = 35. Multipurpose TIG (Tiger) catheter was used in both the approaches to catheterize the right as well as left coronary artery. Results: The access time, catheter manipulation time, procedure time, amount of contrast used, hospital stay, intensity of pain experienced, cost of the procedure and quality of coronary angiogram observed were statistically insignificant while the fluoroscopy time was slightly statistically significant which was independent to catheter manipulation time. Conclusions: The neglected Left Radial Approach to coronary angiography is as efficacious, safe and cost effective with reduction in arterial spasm complications when compared to the Right Radial Approach performed by multipurpose Tiger catheter.
Tinkering Evolution of Post-Transcriptional RNA Regulons: Puf3p in Fungi as an Example

Abstract: Genome-wide studies of post-transcriptional mRNA regulation in model organisms indicate a “post-transcriptional RNA regulon” model, in which a set of functionally related genes is regulated by mRNA–binding RNAs or proteins. One well-studied post-transcriptional regulon by Puf3p functions in mitochondrial biogenesis in budding yeast. The evolution of the Puf3p regulon remains unclear because previous studies have shown functional divergence of Puf3p regulon targets among yeast, fruit fly, and humans. By analyzing evolutionary patterns of Puf3p and its targeted genes in forty-two sequenced fungi, we demonstrated that, although the Puf3p regulon is conserved among all of the studied fungi, the dedicated regulation of mitochondrial biogenesis by Puf3p emerged only in the Saccharomycotina clade. Moreover, the evolution of the Puf3p regulon was coupled with evolution of codon usage bias in down-regulating expression of genes that function in mitochondria in yeast species after genome duplication. Our results provide a scenario for how evolution like a tinker exploits pre-existing materials of a conserved post-transcriptional regulon to regulate gene expression for novel functional roles.
Carbon Nanotubes Based Glucose Needle-type Biosensor

Abstract: A novel needle-type biosensor based on carbon nanotubes is reported. Thebiosensor was prepared by packing a mixture of multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs),graphite powder and glucose oxidase (Gox) freeze-dried powder into a glass capillary of 0.5mm inner diameter. The resulting amperometric biosensor was characterizedelectrochemically using amperometry in the presence of hydrogen peroxide and in thepresence of glucose. The glucose biosensor sensitivity was influenced by the glucoseoxidase concentration within the MWCNTs mixture. The optimized glucose needle-typebiosensor displayed better sensitivity and stability, and a detected range of up to 20 mM.Based on its favorable stability, the needle biosensor was first time used in real-timemonitoring system as a kind of online glucose detector. The decay of current response isless than 10% after 24-hour continuous observation.

The Line Clipping Algorithm Basing on Affine Transformation  [PDF]

Abstract: A new algorithm for clipping line segments by a rectangular window on rectangular coordinate system is presented in this paper. The algorithm is very different to the other line clipping algorithms. For the line segments that cannot be identified as completely inside or outside the window by simple testings, this algorithm applies affine transformations (the shearing transformations) to the line segments and the window, and changes the slopes of the line segments and the shape of the window. Thus, it is clear for the line segment to be outside or inside of the window. If the line segments intersect the window, the algorithm immediately (no solving equations) gets the intersection points. Having applied the inverse transformations to the intersection points, the algorithm has the final results. The algorithm is successful to avoid the complex classifications and computations. Besides, the algorithm is effective to simplify the processes of finding the intersection points. Comparing to some classical algorithms, the algorithm of this paper is faster for clipping line segments and more efficient for calculations.

Abstract: Focusing on the problems occurred in traditional 2D image-word-based web applications, the author put forward con-cept of integrating Web3D, Flex and SSH technologies to create advanced “3D Virtual Reality & RIA” web application architecture, researched mechanisms of their architectures, and implemented their integration and communication & interaction: Flex and Struts2 via XML, Flex and Spring & Hibernate via BlazeDS, Flex and Web3D via JavaScript. The practice has shown that the integrated web architecture based on Web3D, Flex and SSH is effective and valuable.

Abstract: A novel influenza virus of the H7N9 subtype has infected more than 350 people in China since 19 February 2013. Evolutionary analysis indicates that the virus is a reassortant originated from H7, N9 and H9N2 avian influenza viruses, and bears some amino acids associated with mammalian receptor binding, raising concern over the possibility of a new influenza pandemic. Besides HA and NA, the mutation of the polymerase is known to have an important role in virulence, host adaptation and transmissibility in mammalians. In this article, the annotation of the polymerase protein domain associated with molecular function has been highlighted, suggesting the combination of RNA polymerase of H7N9 viruses is still not stable for host adaptation. In addition, the mutation hallmarks in polymerase gene of H7N9 are compared, providing the potential determinants of the evolution in the H7N9 influenza A virus.

Abstract: In Hilbert spaces , through improving some corresponding conditions in some literature and extending some recent relevent results, a strong convergence theorem of some implicit iteration process for pesudocon-traction mappings and explicit iteration process for nonexpansive mappings were established. And by using the result, some iterative solution for some equation of response diffusion were obtained.

Abstract:
Urban development programming counted one of the major important stages of planning and design. Urban projects process still has not enough consideration to urban development programming stage. This step sometimes missed in urban development projects or confused with tasks of urban development planning. It has been slow to achieve full existence. Methodology and strategies of urban development do not set clear the limits to the mission of urban development programming. The knowledge about the urban programming process and skilled programmers, architects or planners is one of the major issues of these days. This research investigates the concept of urban development programming in urban projects, to indicate the separation of architectural programming and urban programming tasks, and additionally, obtaining to innovate a new methodology and analyze the challenges and implementation. This methodology is determining the urban development programming task as well as strategies for implementation. The process of urban development programming and methods could give opportunities to programmers, planners, users, developers and urban authorities to implement this major important phase in urban projects. The research explicitly explains that urban development programming is a part of urban development planning and simplifying the process of planning.
