A renova o da teleologia em Hans Jonas: da biologia filosófica aos fundamentos da ética
Wendell Evangelista Soares Lopes
Princípios : Revista de Filosofia , 2010,
Abstract: The present paper aims to elucidate the renewal of teleology in the thought of Hans Jonas showing how it takes up two central functions, namely: to think a philosophical biology – or ontology – that more accurately meets the construction of a coming-to-be and psychophysical universe; and to think the ought-to-be of humanity as the telos and absolute value in the evolutionary process of Being. To accomplish our goal, we explain first that what Jonas calls the “riddle of subjectivity” is the basic problem of ontology, and that modern philosophy fails to respond to it, thus requiring a rehabilitation – and renewal – of a teleological conception of being. Then we will show that this renewal of teleology, that can be called “neo-finalism”, defines finalism as intrinsic not only to individual beings, but also to the devenir of the world itself, where man would be the very ultimate realization of a latent possibility within this evolutionary process of the universal substance. Hence would result a principle of ethics which is ultimately grounded neither in the autonomy of the self nor in the needs of community, but in the teleological character of the evolutionary process of nature itself – man as the “final quality”, and thus the absolute value, of such a process. That is to say, for Jonas teleology aims to finally answer what is the good about humanity, who would sign as well as the very foundation of ethics.

Abstract: the objective of this experiment was to evaluate the effects of the addition of increasing levels of leucaena forage on the chemical composition of sorghum silage. a completely randomized experimental design was used with five treatments and three replicates. the ensiled material consisted of unmixed sorghum and sorghum with 10, 20, 30 and 40% of leucaena green forage. forage sorghum ag 2002 was harvested at 110 days after planting. the leucaena was cut on the same day by harvesting branches with a diameter of up to 10 mm. the material remained ensiled for 30 days in laboratory minisilos of pvc tubes. the values for ph, buffering capacity (bc), dm, cp, ndf, adf and ammonium nitrogen (n-nh3) were determined. the increase in the ratio of leucaena resulted in positive linear effect for cp, bc and n-nh3, and negative linear effect for dm, ndf and adf contents. the addition of up to 40% of leucaena forage should be a viable alternative to the improvement of the chemical composition of sorghum silage.

Revista Paulista de Pediatria , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-05822010000100007
Abstract: objective: to assess and compare the frequency and severity of exercise-induced bronchospasm (eib) in obese and non-obese asthmatic adolescents. methods: cross-sectional and descriptive study with 39 subjects aged ten to 16 years of both genders divided into two groups according to clinical history of asthma and/or allergic rhinitis and body mass index, as follows: asthmatic obese (n=18) and asthmatic non-obese (n=21). an exercise bronchoprovocation test was applied to diagnose eib and was considered positive if the forced expiratory volume in one second (fev1) decreased >15% in relation to pre-exercise fev1. maximum percent of fall in fev1 (mf%fev1) and the area above the curve (aac0-30) were calculated to evaluate the intensity and recovery of eib. fisher exact test was used to compare the frequency of eib and mann-whitney test to compare the severity and recovery of eib. null hypothesis was rejected when p<0.05. results: no significant difference was found in the frequency of eib between the asthmatic obese (50%) and non-obese (38%) adolescents. however, the mf%fev1 and aac0-30 were significantly higher in the asthmatic obese as compared to the asthmatic non-obese patients (respectively, 37.7% and 455 versus 24.5% e 214, p<0.03). conclusions: obesity did not contribute to the increase of the frequency of eib in asthmatic and non-asthmatic patients. however, obesity contributed to the increase of severity and recovery time of eib in asthmatics
Age and menarcheal status do not influence metabolic response to aerobic training in overweight girls

Diabetology & Metabolic Syndrome , 2013, DOI: 10.1186/1758-5996-5-7
Abstract: Background Multidisciplinary intervention is an alternative for the treatment of children and adolescent obese. However, the influence of age and menarcheal status in the pattern of metabolic response of obese girls has not been investigated. The following study examined the effects of a 12-week multidisciplinary intervention on metabolic health in overweight girls and the contribution of age and menarcheal status on the resulting changes. Methods Eighty-eight overweight girls (10 - 16 years) were considered initially for this study and randomly assigned (intervention group: n = 58; control group: n = 30). Forty-six girls completed the intervention program and 16 girls completed the follow-up for the control group. The 12-week intervention included aerobic exercises (three times per week) and nutritional intervention. Anthropometrical measures (body mass, body mass index and waist circumference), menarcheal status and metabolic profiles including glucose, insulin, triglycerides (TG), total cholesterol (TC), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) were assessed in the beginning and after of intervention. Additionally, were calculated homeostatic model assessment-insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) and quantitative insulin sensitivity check index (QUICKI). Results After 12-week, girls decreased significantly the body mass (76.6 ± 14.7 to 75.7 ± 14.6 kg) body mass index (30.1 ± 4.0 to 29.4 ± 4.0 kg/m2) and waist circumference (98.9 ± 10.9 to 96.5 ± 11.4 cm). There were differences in HDL-C (43.1 ± 8.2 to 50.3 ± 9.4 mg/dl), TG (120.9 ± 64.3 to 93.3 ± 47.9 mg/dl) and insulin (16.9 ± 7.6 to 15.6 ± 9.8 mg/dl). Relative contribution of age was significant only for within-subject variability in waist circumference. Conclusions The multidisciplinary based on aerobic training intervention used in this study produced substantial benefits on metabolic health indicators in overweight girls. The changes observed were not related to inter-individual variability in age and maturity status.

Desenvolvimento em Quest?o , 2011,
Abstract: This paper proposes a rapprochement between the sociology of development and urban sociology. The towns are the core of development as they are in them, which appear the characteristic culture of the development of the modern capitalist state - "urban culture". Therefore, there is the possibility of rapprochement. For that we conducted a literature search, from which a dialogue was established between Jacques Lambert s the theory of developmentalism and theoretical contribution of some authors of urban sociology. The aim was both to understand how the concepts of urban sociology appear in the theory of Lambert and compare the discussion raised by this author about the obstacles of Brazilian development, in the 50s, which is dualism rural / urban, with recent studies of authors who dedicated to the urban theme in urban Brazil, as for example Luiz Cezar Q. Ribeiro, who also points to existence of a dualism in Brazilian society.
