Abstract: OBJECTIVE: To study and establish quality con-trol model of the Salvianolic Acid B by Near In-frared Spectroscopy (NIRS), and to realize on-line quality control of extracting and purifying proc-esses of industrial scale herbal product manu-facturing. METHOD: NIR chromatography was obtained from on-line NIR detection of extract-ing process and purifying process. HPLC analysis was carried out to determine the con-tents of salvianolic acid B. Partial Least Squares Regression (PLS) was used to establish the model between the information between NIRS and HPLC. RESULTS: For extracting model: the optimum Near Infrared (NIR) wavelength range was 9815- 5430cm-1, R=0.9784, RMSEC=0.258; for puri-fying model: the optimum NIR wavelength range was 9815-5430cm-1, R=0.9776, RMSEC=4.02. The average relative error was <5%. CONCLUSION: NIR technique is applicable for on-line quality control in production of salvianolic acid B.
Zoledronic Acid as an Adjuvant Therapy in Patients with Breast Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Abstract: Background Zoledronic acid is widely used as adjuvant chemotherapy for the treatment of breast cancer. However, previous trials reported inconsistent findings regarding their clinical efficacy and safety. We carried out a comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the effects of zoledronic acid on disease-free survival (DFS), overall survival (OS), and drug-related toxicities. Methodology and Principal Findings We systematically searched Medline, EmBase, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, reference lists of articles and proceedings of major meetings for relevant literatures with a time limit of Dec. 1, 2011. Randomized controlled trials evaluated the effects of zoledronic acid on OS, DFS, and RFS compared with control were eligible for inclusion in our research. Of 175 identified studies, we collected data from 7 randomized controlled trials of zoledronic acid that had OS, DFS, and RFS reported as one of the endpoint. Overall, we noted that patients receiving zoledronic acid therapy had significant longer OS than the group with non-zoledronic acid therapy (HR, 0.85, 95%CI, 0.73 to 1.00, P = 0.047). Furthermore, zoledronic acid therapy also had a clear effect on frature events (RR, 0.66, 95%CI, 0.52 to 0.84, P<0.001). Subgroup analysis indicated that zoledronic acid therapy showed a great beneficial effect on disease recurrence in patients with early-stage breast cancer, however, it also significantly increased the harm of disease recurrence in patients with advanced breast cancer. Bone pain, neutropenic fever, pyrexia, rash were more frequent in the zoledronic acid therapy group. Conclusion/Significance Treatment with zoledronic acid had a clear effect on fracture events, and it might contribute an important role for overall survival.
Study on the Application of DV-Hop Localization Algorithms to Random Sensor Networks

Abstract: DV-Hop algorithm is one of the important range-free localization algorithms. The algorithm performs better in isotropic density sensor networks, however, it has larger location errors in randomly distributed networks. According to the localization principle of the DV-Hop algorithm, this paper proposes three improvements including the estimation of average single hop distance, the calculation of distance between unknown nodes and reference nodes and the estimation of node positions. These improvements can be used independently or jointly to replace the corresponding steps in the DV-Hop algorithm. The localization performances are analyzed in theory and with simulations. The results show that the proposed improvements can greatly enhance the localization accuracy of the unknown nodes. In addition, the proposed schemes do not change the localization process of the DV-Hop algorithm, and hence they need no further communication resource and additional hardware requirement.

Abstract: This paper uses the classical ensemble method to study the double ionization of a 2-dimensional (2D) model helium atom interacting with an elliptically polarized laser pulse. The classical ensemble calculation demonstrates that the ratio of double to single ionization decreases with the increasing ellipticity of the driving field. The classical scenario shows that there are hardly any e--e recollisions with the circularly polarized laser pulse. The double ionization probability is studied for linearly and circularly polarized laser pulses. The classical numerical results are consistent with the semiclassical rescattering mechanism and in agreement with the experimental results and the quantum calculations qualitatively.
Effect of strong magnetic field on chemical potential and electron capture in magnetar

Abstract: The chemical potential of electrons in a strong magnetic field is investigated. It is shown that the magnetic field has only a slight effect on electron chemical potential when B<1011 T, but electron chemical potential will decrease greatly when B>1011 T. The effects of a strong magnetic field on electron capture rates for 60Fe are discussed, and the result shows that the electron capture sharply decreases because of the strong magnetic field.
Study on Destriping Methods of OMIS Images

Abstract: The main causes and characteristics of stripe noises in OMIS hyperspectral data were analyzed. Based on the previous analysis, two improved destriping methods of OMIS images were developed. The result of comparing the tested images with data indicates that both the new methods could effectively remove stripe noises and preserve the textures and details of the OMIS images better than the existed methods.
