Abstract: HPL-UV residue analytical method for monosulfuron N-(4'-methyl) pyrimidin-2'yl]-2-nitrophenylsulfonyl urea] in soil and wheat was developed. Monosulfuron residues were recovered by solvent extraction, followed by liquid-liquid partition, and C18 cartrige clean-up. Excellent method recoveries ranging from 95%-104% for both fortified soil and wheat grain were obtained with coefficients of variation 1.5%-11.8%. The minimum detectable quantities in soil and wheat were both 4 ng, the limit of detection was 0.02 mg/kg. When monosulfuron was applied according to double dosage of maximum recommended use direction(120 g ai/hm2 of 10% monosulfuron wettable powder sprayed for once during development of wheat) in field studies conducted in Shandong Province and near Beijing, monosulfuron residues was not detected in soil and wheat samples collected 75 d after application. Laboratory soil degradation studies showed that monosulfuron degraded faster in acidic soil and strong alkaline soil than in neutral or weak alkaline soil. Half lives in Jiangxi soil, Shijiazhuang soil, Jiangsu soil and Heilongjiang soil were 41, 48, 87 and 84 d respectively. Monosulfuron residues dissipated rapidly in Shandong and Beijing field test sites with half-lives of less than 14 d.
Serum homocysteine concentrations of Chinese intellectuals and the influential factors concerned  [PDF]

Abstract: Objective: To observe the concentration of se-rum homocysteine in intellectuals and the re-lated influential factors. Methods: The concen-trations serum homocysteine and saliva cortisol were measured in 138 intellectuals from three cities, Tianjin, Guangzhou and Chengdu in China. All the subjects had senior titles of tech-nical post, aged 40-69 years. Results: The mean value of serum homocysteine concentration in intellectuals was 20.6±0.8μmol/L, higher than the reference value. With the increase of cortisol levels the homocysteine concentrations rise (P <0.05). The mean value of homocysteine con-centration was highest in 40-49 years old group. Men had higher homocysteine level than women in this investigation. According to the mean value of homocysteine concentration among different cities, Tianjin was highest, Chengdu medium, Guangzhou lowest. Conclusion: The serum homocysteine concentration of intellec-tuals is higher than the reference value. The stress level, gender and resident cities might contribute to the differences in serum homo-cysteine concentration in Chinese intellectuals.
DSP Implementation of an Improved DHMM Algorithm

Abstract: This paper analysed and contrasted multi-algorithms about DHMM (Discrete Hidden Markov Models), based on which it designed an improved DHMM algorithm, and then, applied it to the embedded speech recognition system. This system was realization of speaker-independent's isolated word recognition. The flatform of this system was centered ADSP-BF531. And it was expanded by big capacity SDRAM & ROM. This system has many merits, e.g. small volume, high speedand, high reliability, high robustness and high expansibility, etc. It is very convenient for some special situations and has much market potential. The experiment confirms that its speech recognition accuracy reaches 94 percent for speaker-independent and small vocabulary. This paper introduced the improved HMM algorithm, hardware design and its application effect.
Research on focal nodular hyperplasia with MSCT and postprocessing

Abstract: AIM: To investigate and evaluate the pathological features and diagnostic value of focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH) with multi-section spiral computed tomography (MSCT) and postprocessing.METHODS: A total of 25 patients with FNH who had undergone MSCT and postprocessing were included in the investigation. All patients had been pathologically or clinically confirmed with FNH. A number of 75 cases of hepatic carcinomas, hemangiomas and adenomas were randomly selected at a same period for a comparative study.RESULTS: There was a single focus in 22 cases and multiple foci in 3 cases. On the plain scan, 17 lesions showed hypodensity, 7 isodensity and 4 hyperdensity (the case with fatty liver). With contrast, 28 lesions were enhanced evenly or in the nodules in the arterial phase; 13 lesions still showed hyperdensity, 11 lesions isodensity and 4 lesions hypodensity in the parenchymatous phase; in the delayed phase only 5 lesions showed hyperdensity but 9 lesions showed isodensity or slight hypodensity and 14 lesions showed hypodensity. Twelve lesions of 28 had central asteroid scars. Thickened feeding arteries in postprocessing were seen in 24 lesions, and were integrated into the parenchymatous lesions with a gradual and smooth course. On the contrary, there were no artery penetrated into the lesion found in any of comparative hepatic tumors.CONCLUSION: Doctors could make a correct diagnosis and differentiation of FNH on evaluation of the characteristic appearance on MSCT with postprocessing.

PEComa may involve the visceral organs, including the lung, kidney, liver, nasal cavity, small and large bowel, appendix, prostate and uterus, and also the retroperitoneal and abdominopelvic sites. The currently reported PEComas include renal and extrarenal angiomyolipoma (AML), lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM), clear cell "sugar" tumor of the lung (CCST), clear cell myomelanocytic tumors (CCMMT) of the falciform ligament/ligamentum teres and distinctive clear cell tumors at other anatomic sites. PECs have a clear or acidophilic cytoplasm and express the biomarkers of melanocytic and smooth muscle. The mean age of patients with PEComa is reportedly 45 years (ranging 40-75 years old), and there is a marked female predominance [1]. Here we describe a 46-year-old Chinese woman who had multifocal perivascular epithelioid cell tumor (PEComatosis) arising from the genital tract and pelvis.In Nov, 2010, a 46-year-old woman was referred to Department of Ggyneco-obstetrics of Changhai Hospital due to a uterus mass and a left pelvic adnexal mass, which were palpated during a routine physical examination, but presenting no abnormal vaginal bleeding and stigmata of the tuberous sclerosus complex. Serum CA-125 and CA-19-9 levels as well as other laboratory findings were all within the normal limits. Transabdominal sonography revealed a uterus mass (diameter 3.2 cm), a left pelvic adnexal cystic mass (diameter 3.7 cm) and a left pelvic mass(diameter 4.9 cm). The initial clinical impression of the lesions was uterus leiomyoma and left ovary chocolate cyst. Then the patient underwent a total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorect
Generation of functional organs from stem cells

Abstract: Stem cells are undifferentiated cells found in the body which have the ability to continuously divide, self-renew themselves and differentiate into various kinds of cells. With the capability of self-renewal, pluripotency and differentiation, stem cells have been believed to be useful for treatment of a wide variety of diseases in the future, including stroke, traumatic brain injury, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, spinal cord injury, baldness, blindness, deafness, wound healing, amyotrophic lateral-sclerosis, myocardial infarction, muscular dystrophy, osteoarthritis rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, and diabetes. Amongst the applications, a number of adult stem cell therapies have already been practiced clinically. As an example, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation has been successfully applied to treat leukemia.In addition to cell replacement therapy using stem cells, organ transplantation has been successfully practiced in clinics for organ failure of the liver or kidney. However, the severe shortage of donor organs has become the main obstacle to expand the organ transplant program. Generation of biological or semi-biological organs could be an alternative approach to solve the problem of the donor organ shortage. Notably, researchers have been hunting for ways to establish a whole organ using stem cells.In recent years encouraging approaches for functional organ generation have emerged. The present manuscript provides an overview of organ generation using a single adult tissue stem cell, a blastocyst complementation system coupled with a specific stem cell niche, a method of decellularization and recellularization of bio-scaffold, and a combinatorial approach of tissue engineering and stem cells.To demonstrate whether there are true stem cells in a given tissue, one needs to show that a single stem cell purified from the tissue has the capability of generating the entire organ. Heparanase-1 activities in the development of laser induced choroidal neovascularization

Abstract: AIM:To investigate the role of heparanase-1 in laser-induced choroidal neovascularization (CNV).METHODS:Experimental CNV was induced by krypton laser photocoagulation in 15 male Brown Norway rats. Fundus fluorescein angiography and histopathological examination were performed in observing the CNV development. The expression and distribution of heparanase-1 protein in the laser lesions were determined by immunohistochemistry and western blotting analysis.RESULTS:The success rate of laser induced CNV was approximately 75% on 3-4 weeks after laser photocoagulation. The protein levels of heparanase-1 increased significantly in the retina-choroidal complex of CNV models when compared to normal rat eyes (P<0.01). Immunostaining confirmed strong heparanase-1 expressions in all laser lesions, and it displayed to be highest at the newly formed blood vessels within the fibrovascular complex in the subretinal space.CONCLUSION:Heparanase-1 is closely involved in the development of laser induced CNV.
Magnetization Dynamics driven by Non-equilibrium Spin-Orbit Coupled Electron Gas

Abstract: The dynamics of magnetization coupled to an electron gas via s-d exchange interaction is investigated by using density matrix technique. Our theory shows that non-equilibrium spin accumulation induces a spin torque and the electron bath leads to a damping of the magnetization. For the two-dimensional magnetization thin film coupled to the electron gas with Rashba spin-orbit coupling, the result for the spin-orbit torques is consistent with the previous semi-classical theory. Our theory predicts a damping of the magnetization, which is absent in the semi-classical theory. The magnitude of the damping due to the electron bath is comparable to the intrinsic Gilbert damping and may be important in describing the magnetization dynamics of the system.
