Value Creation of Strategic Investors under Convertible Bond Investment—A Case Study of Wharf (Holdings) Limited  [PDF]

Abstract: This paper analyzes the case of Wharf’s participation in Greentown China’s corporate governance under the investment of convertible bonds, and brings the case of market value growth. It reveals that the strategic investors have passed the three stages of “value supportvalue driven—value realization”. The bond issuer realizes value creation and achieves a win-win situation for both parties. The study found that strategic investors and bond-issuing companies have complementary resources and positioning strategies to provide strong value support for cooperation between the two parties. The key processes driven by value include the investment phase and the corporate governance phase. In the investment phase, choosing the right financing method and designing the refined terms provide the basis for strategic investors to participate in corporate governance. In the corporate governance stage, strategic investors can restrain overinvestment by issuing sound financial policies bonds, and participate in the investment decision-making of bond-issuing enterprises to create business synergies. The realization of value is reflected in the two aspects of market value improvement and business improvement.

Abstract: This paper introduces the source and utility circumstance of natural gas in China. The utility cir-cumstance of natural gas is discussed in detail, such as, natural gas as feedstock is produced to acetylene; natural gas is used to cut metal; natural gas is applied to generate ethylene; natural gas instead of heavy oil is fired to produce chromium trioxide. In so doing, the energy demand of China will be better met with least damage to the environment. According to the full utility of natural gas sources, their good economic and social benefits are obtained.
Projection Pursuit Flood Disaster Classification Assessment Method Based on Multi-Swarm Cooperative Particle Swarm Optimization  [PDF]

Abstract: The indicators of flood damage assessment in the flood classification are often incompatible, and it is very difficult to use those indicators value directly for classification assessment. Projection pursuit technology can project higher dimensional incompatible data into lower dimensional sub-space, and find the projection values for optimal projection index function to get the higher dimensional data structure features, which has been improved to be reasonable and effective for flood disaster classification assessment. However, it is a bit difficult to optimize the parameters of projection index functions, as a result, that limits the applications of this method. As an emerging heuristic global optimization algorithm based on swarm intelligence, particle swarm optimization algorithm has the ability of solving complex optimization problem, but it still be easily convergent early, and can not search the global optimal solution. In this paper, a flood disaster classification assessment method based on multi-swarm cooperative particle swarm optimization is proposed, which adopts a tri-parameter Logistic curve to construct the flood disaster projection pursuit model, and uses mul-ti-swarm system particle swarm optimization method to optimize the parameters of the projection index functions. The typical test function experiment shows that this optimization method can solve the early convergence commonly found in standard particle swarm optimization algorithm, which global optimized ability is improved greatly. Applied in flood disaster assessment in HeNan Province, the results using this method comparing with others indicates that it can assess effectively the flood disaster, and has better assessment accuracy and disaster resolution.

Abstract: Contract Net Protocol (CNP) has been widely used in solving the problems of multi-Agent cooperates and reservoir flood control optimization dispatch. This paper designs an Agent functional module based on the multi-Agent coordinated the construction of reservoir flood control optimization dispatch and the corresponding Agent to solve the problem of classical CNP in the Agent communication aspect, to enhance the efficiency of reservoir optimization dispatch and to improve the insufficiency of the classical CNP in the application of reservoir flood control dispatcher. Then, the capacity factor and the cooperation level are introduced in the module. Experiments are conducted on the Agentbuilder simulation platform to simulate reservoir flood control optimization dispatching with the improved CNP. The simulation results show the communication interactive efficiency and the performance of new protocol is superior to those of the classical CNP.

Abstract: The title dinuclear copper complex, [Cu2(C15H15N6O)Cl2(CH3OH)2]ClO4, was prepared by the reaction of copper(II) chloride with bis[1-(2-pyridyl)ethylidene]carbonohydrazide in the presence of sodium perchlorate in a methanol solution. It features a mono-deprotonated bis-tridentate ligand, which coordinates to two independent CuII ions, one of which is coordinated by pyridyl N, hydrazyl N and carbonyl O atoms. The second CuII ion is coordinated by the pyridyl N and two hydrazyl N atoms from different hydrazyl groups. The coordination environments of both CuII ions are completed by a chloride ion and a methanol molecule. The dihedral angle between the pyridyl groups is 27.46 (10)°. The crystal packing is stabilized by O—H...O(perchlorate), O—H...Cl and N—H...Cl hydrogen bonding.
On the Universal Value and the Socialist Democracy

Abstract: The universal value has become the focus of dispute among the common people and the thinking public. This paper, taking understanding scientifically the nature of the universal value as the starting point, analyzes the dispute of capitalism and socialism on the universal value and has found the reason resulting in the situation. And it further pointed out theoretically that the scientific way by which socialism wins the leading power is to establish the socialist democratic political system based on the proletarian universal value. Then, the paper, combining the history and reality, makes a bold imagination and analysis on how the universal system of socialist democracy can be practiced in the socialist counties or other world and draws the final conclusion that the universal socialist democratic system will help the socialism triumph over capitalism.

Abstract: Recently, Nielsen et al have proposed a geometric approach to quantum computation. They've shown that the size of the minimum quantum circuits implementing a unitary U, up to polynomial factors, equals to the length of minimal geodesic from identity I through U. They've investigated a large class of solutions to the geodesic equation, called Pauli geodesics. They've raised a natural question whether we can explicitly construct a family of unitaries U that have exponentially long minimal length Pauli geodesics? We give a positive answer to this question.
Real-time Flame Rendering with GPU and CUDA

Abstract: This paper proposes a method of flame simulation based on Lagrange process and chemical composition, which was non-grid and the problems associated with there grids were overcome. The turbulence movement of flame was described by Lagrange process and chemical composition was added into flame simulation which increased the authenticity of flame. For real-time applications, this paper simplified the EMST model. GPU-based particle system combined with OpenGL VBO and PBO unique technology was used to accelerate finally, the speed of vertex and pixel data interaction between CPU and GPU increased two orders of magnitude, frame rate of rendering increased by 30%, which achieved fast dynamic flame real-time simulation. For further real-time applications, this paper presented a strategy to implement flame simulation with CUDA on GPU, which achieved a speed up to 2.5 times the previous implementation.
Efficient One-way Quantum Computations for Quantum Error Correction

Abstract: We show how to explicitly construct an $O(nd)$ size and constant quantum depth circuit which encodes any given $n$-qubit stabilizer code with $d$ generators. Our construction is derived using the graphic description for stabilizer codes and the one-way quantum computation model. Our result demonstrates how to use cluster states as scalable resources for many multi-qubit entangled states and how to use the one-way quantum computation model to improve design of quantum algorithms.
