Desulphurization of Transportation Fuels by Per-Formic Acid Oxidant Using MoOx Loaded on ZSM-5 Catalyst  [PDF]

Abstract:
Desulphurization of model and real oil samples was investigated using performic acid as oxidant assisted by air as co-oxidant. The catalysts used were Mo-oxide supported on ZSM-5 zeolite, which was synthesized in the laboratory and characterized by FT-IR, XRD, SEM and SSA analysis. In case of model oil, the optimum condition determined for complete oxidation of all the model compounds including thiophene, DBT and 4,6-DMDBT were; 60?C, 60 min, ambient pressure and air flow rate of 100 mL/min. The oxidation reactivity decreased from 4,6-DMDBT to DBT and thiophene, which was found to follow pseudo first order kinetics. The real oil sample used in the study included untreated naphtha (NP), light gas oil (LGO), heavy gas oil (HGO) and Athabasca bitumen (Bit.). In case of NP and LGO the sulfur removal of above 78% was attained whereas in case of HGO and Bit. samples about 60% of desulfurization was achieved.

Abstract:

Control engineering had been the core of all engineering fields all the time. As the name depicts, control of different parameters of various industrial or commercial equipment like plants, vehicles, aircrafts and etc is obtained. Robust and optimal control of these equipments plays a vital role. This paper presents a design of H2 and H control for a Twin Rotor System (TRS). TRS is a multi input multi output (MIMO) nonlinear system. The main objective is to control the angular position of the lever bar of TRS. It is having strong coupling between inputs and outputs. The model is first linearized and then controllers are designed to control the positions of lever bar. Simulations are made in MAT- LAB/SIMULINK. Model parameters are also provided in the end.

Abstract: In this paper, we present a narrative role methodology based on different people’s opinions, which is now implemented in our research environment for the purpose of testing novel techniques, the usability testing of most common used smart phones such as Android and Apple smart phone application. This research analysis is carried out for various corresponding features to compare or evaluate different features on the basis of modern smart phones’ operating system, framework for hardware and software, battery life and many more features. Usability testing of smart phones’ software application is a promising research context that nowadays faces a number of challenges because of sole features of mobile phones, narrow bandwidth, varying environmental factors and unreliability of wireless connection or networks. A number of questionings are applied to accumulate user’s opinion about ongoing features. Users of Android and Apple smart phones reply by answering based on their routine life usage experience. In this paper, we will also elaborate and provide a new proposed model for mobile devices.

Abstract: Nowadays rapidly increasing technology is mobile phone technology in telecommunication sector. This mobile device technology has great effect on everyone’s life. This technology has reduced the burden of people in their daily life. To manage the rising demand for such mobile devices, numerous operating systems came in the market as a platform upon which modern application can be produced. As a result, numbers of platforms and essential depository describe these platforms; customers may or may not be aware of these platforms that are appropriate for their needs. In order to solve this issue, we examine the most famous mobile phone operating systems to decide which operating system is most suitable for developers, business applications as well as casual use. In this paper we make assessment on the popular operating systems of mobile devices available in the business market, and on behalf of such assessment we distinguish that operating system OS is much useful of its particular characteristics compared with other systems.

Abstract: Background: Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) are most common and distressing complications after anaesthesia and surgery, leading to various problems. Metoclopramide, a benzamide, used as an anti-emetic, has got various side-effects. Propofol, a short acting induction agent, possesses anti-emetic properties in sub hypnotic doses, without having unwanted side- effects in this low dose.Objectives: To compare the frequency of PONV in patients treated with propofol and metoclopramide. Study Design: Experimental study.Setting: Department of anaesthesia and intensive care, Combined Military Hospital Rawalpindi. Duration: 06 months (01st July to 31stDecember 2004). Materials and Methods: 182 female patients scheduled for open cholecystectomy were selected for this study. All of themreceived general anaesthesia without any prophylactic antiemetic. Out of them, 60 patients who complained of PONV in post anaesthesia careunit (PACU) were selected by non probability convenience sampling and were equally divided into two groups. Group ‘A’ received propofol (0.5mg/kg) while group ‘B’ received metoclopramide (0.2 mg/kg). Recurrence of PONV was recorded 60 min after administration of the study drug.Patients still complaining of PONV 30 min after administration of the study drug received a rescue medication i.e. I/V ondansetron (4mg).Results: In group “A”,18 patients responded to intervention (60%) whereas 26 (86.66%) patients gave a positive response in group “B” (p0.020). More patients who received propofol needed the rescue medication (40%) than those who received metoclopramide (13.33%) (p0.020). Conclusion: Metoclopramide is a better option for managing PONV than propofol.

Abstract: desulphurization of jet fuel, diesel oil, heavy residue and commercial furnace oil is carried out through extraction with aqueous solutions of sodium chloride, barium chloride, sodium hydroxide, mercury chloride, arsenic trioxide, potassium iodide, lead acetate, calcium hydroxide, zinc chloride, aluminum chloride, hydrochloric acid and sulphuric acid. among the solutions used, hgcl2 and ca(oh)2 were found to be the most efficient for the removal of sulphur compounds from the fractions understudy at 40 °c temperature and 30 min of shaking time. the total sulphur depletion of 60 % and 58 % has been achieved in case of jet fuel oil, 71 % and 62 % in case of diesel oil, 68 % and 67 % in case of heavy residue and 67 % and 69 %in case of commercial furnace oil with 10% hgcl2 and 5% ca(oh)2 aqueous solutions, respectively.
Performance of Oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) on Cotton Waste Amended with Maize and Banana Leaves

Abstract: The experiment was conducted to evaluate the growth and performance of oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) on the different substrates. The substrates used in the study were T1 (100% C.W), T2 (50% C.W + 50% Banana leaves), T3 (75% C.W + 25% Banana leaves), T4 (50% C.W + 50% Maize leaves) and T5 (75% C.W + 25% Maize leaves). The numbers of days to complete the mycelium growth and days to reach harvesting stage were decreased in treatments T1 and T5 when compared to others treatments followed by T2. The numbers of matured mushrooms were greater in T1, T2 and T5. Total yield was significantly higher in T1 (125 g), T2 (121 g) and T5 (119.8 g) respectively. The maximum dry weight was produced by T1 (27.2 g) and T2 (25.0 g) respectively over others treatments. The nitrogen contents after harvesting of mushrooms were also affected. These results investigated that 100% cotton waste and 50% cotton waste + 50% Banana leaves are suitable for the cultivation of mushrooms as compared to other growing media.

Proliferation, Multiplication and Improvement of Micro-Propagation System for Mass Clonal Production of Rose through Shoot Tip Culture  [PDF]

Abstract: Present study was conducted to assess the regeneration potential and producing mass-clonal seedlings of Rose through shoot tip culture. A total of 40 explants were cultured on each of basal medium supplemented with different concentrations of BAP, NAA and GA. The observations on the survival rate, days taken to initiate the shoots, total number of shoots and length of shoots, initiation of roots, total number of root, length of roots and number of leaves were investigated. Rose regenerated on MS-Basal medium (control) without addition of growth hormones showed significantly (P < 0.05) lower survival rate and did not show shoots up to the end of experiments. MS-Basal medium supplemented with different concentrations of BAP, NAA and GA showed increasing rate of survival. MS-Basal medium supplemented with highest BAP, NAA and GA concentration (MS-SV) has taken least time to initiate the shoots, whilst supplemented in concentrations of 0.5 and/or 1.0 mg/L, respectively revealed more time. Rooted plants were transplanted into the substrate and acclimatized in the laboratory greenhouse (humid cavity). The acclimatization in the humid cavity showed optimistic effect on the number of survived plants.
