Fine-Grained Classification of Product Images Based on Convolutional Neural Networks  [PDF]

Abstract: With the rapid development of the Internet of things and e-commerce, feature-based image retrieval and classification have become a serious challenge for shoppers searching websites for relevant product information. The last decade has witnessed great interest in research on content-based feature extraction techniques. Moreover, semantic attributes cannot fully express the rich image information. This paper designs and trains a deep convolutional neural network that the convolution kernel size and the order of network connection are based on the high efficiency of the filter capacity and coverage. To solve the problem of long training time and high resource share of deep convolutional neural network, this paper designed a shallow convolutional neural network to achieve the similar classification accuracy. The deep and shallow convolutional neural networks have data pre-processing, feature extraction and softmax classification. To evaluate the classification performance of the network, experiments were conducted using a public database Caltech256 and a homemade product image database containing 15 species of garment and 5 species of shoes on a total of 20,000 color images from shopping websites. Compared with the classification accuracy of combining content-based feature extraction techniques with traditional support vector machine techniques from 76.3% to 86.2%, the deep convolutional neural network obtains an impressive state-of-the-art classification accuracy of 92.1%, and the shallow convolutional neural network reached a classification accuracy of 90.6%. Moreover, the proposed convolutional neural networks can be integrated and implemented in other colour image database.

Abstract: In this paper, the possibility of fast algorithm is discussed for me-chanical theorem proving, where the degeneracy condition are considered in designingof these algorithms. It is found that all of the methods depend seriously on some prin-ciples appearing in Wu's Method. In other words, some principles in Wu's Methodare the instinctive properties in these new fast algorithms of theorem proving.
Similarity law of fluctuating pressure spectrum beneath hydraulic jump

Abstract: Similarity law is the conversion rule between model and prototype, on which a lot of research works have been done, with no agreement reached referring to the similarity law of fluctuating pressure frequency spectrum. Experimental data of peak frequency and dominant frequency range of fluctuating pressure spectrum beneath hydraulic jump obtained from serial models of scales 1:1, 1:2 and 1:5 are compared. As a result, similarity law of fluctuating pressure spectrum in the strongly rolling area agrees with the gravity law. As peak frequency and dominant frequencies of fluctuating pressures in hydraulic jump, toe and tail are rather low, and the similarity is often misunderstood to be λ f = 1. However, the normalized spectrums of fluctuating pressures show that the similarity nearly agrees with the gravity law.

Abstract: Based on a new adaptive Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm with dynamically changing inertia weight (DAPSO), It is used to optimize parameters in PID controller. Compared to conventional PID methods, the simulation shows that this new method makes the optimization perfectly and convergence quickly.
Adaptive Output Tracking for Nonlinear Network Control Systems with Time-Delay  [PDF]

Abstract: The problem of adaptive output tracking is researched for a class of nonlinear network control systems with parameter uncertainties and time-delay. In this paper, a new program is proposed to design a state-feedback controller for this system. For time-delay and parameter uncertainties problems in network control systems, applying the backstepping recursive method, and using Young inequality to process the time-delay term of the systems, a robust adaptive output tracking controller is designed to achieve robust control over a class of nonlinear time-delay network control systems. According to Lyapunov stability theory, Barbalat lemma and Gronwall inequality, it is proved that the designed state feedback controller not only guarantees the state of systems is uniformly bounded, but also ensures the tracking error of the systems converges to a small neighborhood of the origin. Finally, a simulation example for nonlinear network control systems with parameter uncertainties and time-delay is given to illustrate the robust effectiveness of the designed state-feedback controller.
An Algorithm for Noise Reduction in Web Pages Based on a Group of Content-related Rules

Abstract: This paper presents a new algorithm for the elimination of noise in Web pages based on a group of content-related rules.First,the authors present an algorithm which can peel off noises by iteratively comparing the tables on the same level of the page's table tree.Next,an algorithm is presented in order to evaluate the similarity of anchor text's topic and the content of the page.To some extent,as the new algorithm takes semantic facts of the Web pages into consideration,it acquires higher accuracy than pure rule-based algorithm,while requires lower time complexity.The result of experiment indicates that this algorithm performs very effectively when purifying great mass of Web pages.
Molecular Optical Simulation Environment (MOSE): A Platform for the Simulation of Light Propagation in Turbid Media

Abstract: The study of light propagation in turbid media has attracted extensive attention in the field of biomedical optical molecular imaging. In this paper, we present a software platform for the simulation of light propagation in turbid media named the “Molecular Optical Simulation Environment (MOSE)”. Based on the gold standard of the Monte Carlo method, MOSE simulates light propagation both in tissues with complicated structures and through free-space. In particular, MOSE synthesizes realistic data for bioluminescence tomography (BLT), fluorescence molecular tomography (FMT), and diffuse optical tomography (DOT). The user-friendly interface and powerful visualization tools facilitate data analysis and system evaluation. As a major measure for resource sharing and reproducible research, MOSE aims to provide freeware for research and educational institutions, which can be downloaded at http://www.mosetm.net.
Structural Basis for Functional Tetramerization of Lentiviral Integrase

Abstract: Experimental evidence suggests that a tetramer of integrase (IN) is the protagonist of the concerted strand transfer reaction, whereby both ends of retroviral DNA are inserted into a host cell chromosome. Herein we present two crystal structures containing the N-terminal and the catalytic core domains of maedi-visna virus IN in complex with the IN binding domain of the common lentiviral integration co-factor LEDGF. The structures reveal that the dimer-of-dimers architecture of the IN tetramer is stabilized by swapping N-terminal domains between the inner pair of monomers poised to execute catalytic function. Comparison of four independent IN tetramers in our crystal structures elucidate the basis for the closure of the highly flexible dimer-dimer interface, allowing us to model how a pair of active sites become situated for concerted integration. Using a range of complementary approaches, we demonstrate that the dimer-dimer interface is essential for HIV-1 IN tetramerization, concerted integration in vitro, and virus infectivity. Our structures moreover highlight adaptable changes at the interfaces of individual IN dimers that allow divergent lentiviruses to utilize a highly-conserved, common integration co-factor.
Three-dimensional Noninvasive Monitoring Iodine-131 Uptake in the Thyroid Using a Modified Cerenkov Luminescence Tomography Approach

Abstract: Background Cerenkov luminescence tomography (CLT) provides the three-dimensional (3D) radiopharmaceutical biodistribution in small living animals, which is vital to biomedical imaging. However, existing single-spectral and multispectral methods are not very efficient and effective at reconstructing the distribution of the radionuclide tracer. In this paper, we present a semi-quantitative Cerenkov radiation spectral characteristic-based source reconstruction method named the hybrid spectral CLT, to efficiently reconstruct the radionuclide tracer with both encouraging reconstruction results and less acquisition and image reconstruction time. Methodology/Principal Findings We constructed the implantation mouse model implanted with a 400 μCi Na131I radioactive source and the physiological mouse model received an intravenous tail injection of 400 μCi radiopharmaceutical Iodine-131 (I-131) to validate the performance of the hybrid spectral CLT and compared the reconstruction results, acquisition, and image reconstruction time with that of single-spectral and multispectral CLT. Furthermore, we performed 3D noninvasive monitoring of I-131 uptake in the thyroid and quantified I-131 uptake in vivo using hybrid spectral CLT. Results showed that the reconstruction based on the hybrid spectral CLT was more accurate in localization and quantification than using single-spectral CLT, and was more efficient in the in vivo experiment compared with multispectral CLT. Additionally, 3D visualization of longitudinal observations suggested that the reconstructed energy of I-131 uptake in the thyroid increased with acquisition time and there was a robust correlation between the reconstructed energy versus the gamma ray counts of I-131 (). The ex vivo biodistribution experiment further confirmed the I-131 uptake in the thyroid for hybrid spectral CLT. Conclusions/Significance Results indicated that hybrid spectral CLT could be potentially used for thyroid imaging to evaluate its function and monitor its treatment for thyroid cancer.
