Focusing of a Flat Left-Handed Metamaterial Lens in a Heterogeneous and Lossy Medium

Abstract: For applications such as near-field target detection and tumor hyperthermia with a flat left-handed metamaterial (LHM) lens, a microwave will be focused in the heterogeneous and lossy medium. Different from the focusing of a flat LHM lens in vacuum as reported in most previous studies, the medium loss and heterogeneity will affect the focusing performance of the LHM lens. Numerical simulations indicate that the medium loss will degrade the focusing resolution, while the heterogeneity of random variability within ±30% will affect the focusing resolution to a limited extent. Both the loss and heterogeneity of the medium will shift the focal point away from the image plane. When focusing in a medium with different permittivity values, an LHM lens will also have different focusing resolutions due to different electric thicknesses.
Facial spectrum and color characteristics of five viscera reflecting on the face in sub-health status

Abstract: OBJECTIVE: To observe the facial spectrum and color of different points, the positions of heart, liver, spleen, lung and kidney of traditional Chinese medicine reflecting on the face, in healthy participants and those with a sub-health status, so as to provide an objective basis for health evaluation. METHODS: The health condition of 470 subjects without acute and chronic conditions was assessed using the Health Evaluating Questionnaire H20 V2009. The subjects were diagnosed with health (more than 80 score) or sub-health (score between 60 and 80) status according to the questionnaire score. The subjects with a sub-health status were also analyzed using the five-viscera syndrome differentiation of traditional Chinese medicine using the form for collecting information according to the four examinations. Then for gathering the facial color information, CIE L*a*b and C values and reflections of wavelengths ranged from 400 to 700 nm were measured using a CM-2600D spectrophotometer on 8 points of the face, including the frontal part, glabellas, nose, mandible, two cheeks and eyelids. RESULTS: L value of the sub-health group was higher than that of the health group (P<0.05), and a, b and C values were lower than those of the health group (P<0.05), suggesting that the facial complexion of the sub-health group was pale/whiter than the health group. The reflectance rates of wavelengths (from 400 to 550 nm) of the sub-health group were higher than those of the health group (P<0.05), which suggested that the facial complexion of the sub-health group was partially green. The a, b and C values of the forehead, glabellas and nose of subjects in the sub-health group were apparently different from the health subjects. L values of five-viscera types were significantly different from people of a health status (P<0.05). There were some differences in color values among the five-viscera groups: lung group’s color values were significantly different from the others in terms of a, b and C values. The spectral reflectance of different viscera groups of the sub-health group also showed certain differences: reflectance of wavelengths at 400 to 490 nm in the lung group and at 520 to 580 nm in the spleen group showed significant difference from the other groups, and the lung group was lower and the spleen group was higher than the others.CONCLUSION: There are some differences in facial spectrum and color in different sites of the face in sub-health status of different viscera syndrome types, which can provide an objective basis for health evaluation.KEYWORDS: sub-health status; fa

Abstract: For a class of nonautonomous nonlinear vibration system,a corresponding derived system is constructed.A novel control method to realize the synchronization between the derived and the original system is presented.The method is proved by Lyapunov stability theory.The principle for choosing coupling parameters is given.For a Mathieu system excited by parameters and external force,the simulation is carried out.The result shows that the derived system can achieve fast synchronization with the original system under the action of chaos.The simulation for Duffing system excited by quasi-periodic force shows that the derived system can reach synchronization with the original system under the quasi-periodic motion.

Abstract: 对于颜色的辨别具有类别知觉效应:类间两种颜色的辨别能力比同等颜色空间距离的类内两种颜色的辨别能力更高.对于类别知觉效应的产生机制存在两种观点:知觉特性假设、语言标签假设.以往的研究范式由于实验任务涉及到工作记忆成分,被试在完成任务时会自动地对颜色命名以利于记忆,因此所得证据大多支持语言标签假设,而对知觉特性假设的支持证据则很少.本文利用目标觉察范式最大限度去掉了工作记忆成分,通过测量被试辨别两种颜色的反应时,得到了类别知觉效应.并通过语言干扰任务进一步证实在该实验范式下类别知觉效应与语言的无关性.从而,为知觉特性假设提供了证据.

Abstract: 对于一类非线性恢复力无法精确解析表达的简谐激励振动系统,建立了由原系统非线性恢复力激振的派生系统.证明了派生系统与原系统可以达到广义同步.派生系统可以自动与激励力频率、大小变化的原非线性振动系统保持广义同步.证明了由派生系统的广义同步,可以识别出原系统的阻尼系数、激振力幅值与频率.由Duffing系统的仿真计算结果可以看出,这种方法是有效的,而且识别精度较高.

Abstract: 采用间歇产气试验方法对红树林淤泥中的混合菌群进行产氢菌群富集,并对混合产氢菌群发酵产氢过程中发酵液的pH值和氧化还原电位(ORP)的变化进行分析.此外,在产氢速率最高时段,发酵液中菌群经过常规的基因组提取,分别采用通用的梭菌属Fe-氢酶基因和16S rRNA基因引物进行PCR扩增,扩增产物经变性梯度凝胶电泳(DGGE)分析.结果发现产氢菌群中至少有6种,而Fe-氢酶基因只含有一种.将Fe-氢酶基因的扩增片段切胶纯化之后,经PCR重新扩增、纯化,克隆测序.NCBI序列比对结果表明,该片段序列与产气荚膜梭菌Fe-氢酶基因的序列相似性达99%.根据已知产气英膜梭菌Fe-氢酶基因序列设计引物,经两轮PCR扩增获得Fe-氢酶基因全序列.混合菌群中Fe-氢酶基因GenBank数据库的登录号为EU590683.此外,采用Bioedit和Mega2软件构建了Fe-氢酶的NJ系统进化树,结果表明该Fe-氢酶基因与产气荚膜梭菌(Clostridium perfringens)聚为一类.推测的氨基酸序列与产气英膜梭菌的相应序列相似性达97%-99%.PfamHMM结构域查找结果发现,此氢酶含有五个结构域,分别为1个2Fe-2S铁硫簇结合区域、2个4Fe-4S结合区域、Fe-氢酶大亚基和Fe-氢酶小亚基.
The Concentration of Carbon Source in the Medium Affects the Quality of Virus-Like Particles of Human Papillomavirus Type 16 Produced in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

Abstract: There is accumulating evidence that virus-like particles (VLPs) recombinantly produced in Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S. cerevisiae) are characterized by low structural stability, and that this is associated with reduced antigenicity and immunogenicity. However, little attention has been devoted to methods of improving the quality of the VLPs. Here, we investigated the effect of carbon source concentration in the medium on the antigenicity and immunogenicity of human papillomavirus (HPV) type 16 L1 VLPs expressed in S. cerevisiae from the galactose promoter. Media containing 2, 4, 6, and 8% carbon source, composed of both glucose and galactose in equal proportion, were used. VLP antigenicity was enhanced in cultures grown on media with 6 or 8% carbon source, compared to those from cultures with less than 6% carbon source. Moreover, the VLPs obtained from these cultures induced higher anti-HPV16 L1 IgG titers and neutralizing antibody titers in immunized mice than those purified from cultures with less than 6% carbon source. Our results indicate that the concentration of the carbon source in the medium plays a crucial role in determining the antigenicity and immunogenicity of HPV type16 L1 VLPs.

Abstract: 对于非线性振动系统,如果通过线性耦合可以实现派生系统与原系统的同步,则可以建立相应的预测派生系统,使得预测派生系统的响应与经τ时间以后的原系统响应同步,实现对原振动系统的非线性响应,特别是混沌响应的预测.也可以建立多级的预测派生系统,预测较长一段时间以后的振动系统未来的非线性响应.对于Duffing系统建立了6级的预测派生系统,可以比较精确地预测3s左右的原系统混沌响应.

Abstract: In this article, young thalli of Porphyra yezoensis were used to study carbon fixation and photosynthetic activities of the five parts from the basis to the top in the same thallus. The results indicated that: (1) there were variations of carbon fixation in different tissue areas, with the basis part possessing significantly the lowest carbon fixation while the part closing to the top the highest in the five parts; (2) photosynthetic activities and chlorophyll a contents were also different among tissue areas from the basis to the top, with the photosynthetic activities of the root and the top parts lower than the other parts and the contents of chlorophyll a showing a decrease tendency from the basis to the top. It has been reported that there was higher seeding regeneration in the excised fragment from the midst locations of P. yezoensis thalli. Our results revealed higher photosynthetic activities in the middle parts, suggesting a correlation between seeding regeneration and photosynthetic activities.
