Properties of mercuric reductase from a HgCl2-resistant fungus

Abstract: Mercuric reductase is detected in Cephalosporium tabacinum F2.The enzyme, which is an intracellular one,catalyzes the reduction of mercuric ions to elemental mercury,which requires NADH as an electron donor and added sulfhydryl compound.The optimum temperature and pH of the enzymatic reaction are 30℃ and 7.0- 8. 0,respectively.The enzyme activity is stable in the range of 25- 30℃ for 40min,and stable at pH 7. 0 for 2 hours. Metal ions such as Ag+ ,CO2+), Cu2+,Zh2+, Mn2+,Ni2+ show different degrees of inhibitory effect on the enzyme activity,other compounds such as phenylmercury acetate and potassium ferricyanide also partially inhibit the enzyme activity.
Applied Technologies and Prospects of Conformance Control Treatments in China Technologies et perspectives pour l’amélioration du profil de balayage dans les champs pétroliers matures produits par injection d’eau en Chine

Abstract: China is the largest user of chemical-based conformance control treatments and a series of technologies have been successfully developed and deployed in recent years. This paper first shows the milestones of development and application of conformance control technologies in China. Then integrated conformance control technologies are reviewed followed by the lessons we have learned, and then a few major specific conformance control technologies are addressed, including tracer injection and channels explanation, potentiometric testing to identify areal sweep efficiency, Pressure Index (PI) decisionmaking technology to select well candidate, complementary decision-making technology to select well candidate and design application parameters, and major chemicals for in-depth fluid diversion technologies. In addition, this paper also describes the principles and applications of some promising technologies of combined chemical-based conformance treatment with other EOR/IOR process, including the combination technology of surfactant and water shutoff, profile control and mini-scale surfactant flooding, acid treatment and profile control treatment. Finally, this paper summarizes the problems and challenges faced by mature water flooded oilfields in China. Based on recent well tests, tracer testing and interpretation, and previous water control treatment experience, it appears that channels or high permeability streaks are common in mature water flooded oilfields. Some research directions and promising technologies are suggested. La Chine est le plus grand utilisateur de méthodes chimiques pour l’amélioration du profil de balayage de l’eau pour l’exploitation des champs pétroliers matures. Toute une série de technologies y ont d’ailleurs été créées et déployées avec succès ces dernières années. Cet article commence par présenter les étapes du développement et de la mise en place de ces technologies de contr le de profil en Chine. Les techniques permettant l’amélioration du profil de balayage sont passées en revue, ainsi que les le ons qui ont pu en être tirées. Data processing techniques for a wireless data transmission application via mud

Abstract: The data measured by well bottom sensors can be transmitted to the surface through the drilling mud during oil drilling operations. This article introduces a data processing scheme for a wireless data transmission application via mud. The detailed signal processing procedure is given, and several data processing techniques used are discussed, mainly including data encoding and signal integrating method, signal filtering, data storage and manage method, peak detection, signal recognition, and data decoding method. The article uses M pulses in N slots to encode the values of actual parameters. A two step filtering method and a dynamic data storing and managing method are proposed. A mix peak detection method is utilized to find the position of a pulse by combining threshold method and neighbor comparison method. These techniques have been successfully used in an oil well drilling operation.

A simple, quick, sensitive, accurate and precise method has been developed for evaluating the catalytic active sites of titanium silicalite-1 (TS-1). The catalytic active sites of titanium silicalite zeolite depend on the effectively active species (EAS) in TS-1 which react with specific substrates quickly. However, the EAS was hard to be evaluated with conventional instruments and techniques in the past. In this paper, the EAS was formed in TS-1 upon interaction with H2O2, and its presence could be confirmed by UV-vis spectroscopy which has an absorption peak at 385 nm. The absorbance at 385 nm was found to be linearly related to time, and when the absorbance and the increasing rate of absorbance (k) increased, the catalytic performance of TS-1 enhanced.

A novel insight of sentinel lymph node concept based on 1-3 positive nodes in patients with pT1-2 gastric cancer

Abstract: A total of 289 patients in pT1-2 stage with 1-3 positive nodes confined to same compartment were included in this study with informed consents. The primary lesion was solitary (≤ 5.0 cm in diameter) and D2 or D3 lymph node dissection had been performed. The location of metastatic lymph nodes was analyzed retrospectively.Most positive nodes occurred in N1 compartment, with frequency of 79.6% to 85.7% based on site of tumor. In the lower third of stomach, no. 6 was the most common metastatic site and no. 3 was the second; the order was reversed for SLM. With increasing depth of tumor invasion, a progressively augmented nodal involvement was shown. Nearly a half appeared transverse metastasis when the tumor located at the lesser or greater curvature. Among skip metastasis, no. 7, 8a, 9 and 11p were the most common metastatic sites and the prognosis was as similar as that of patients with N1 involved only.The 1-3 positive nodes in the same compartment should be possible SNs, and most of which are restricted in N1 in pT1-2 gastric cancer. Transversal and 2 stations lymph node metastasis are common.Although the incidence of gastric cancer is declining, it remains the second leading cause of cancer related mortality worldwide [1-3]. Lymph node status is one of the crucial important prognostic factors, and gastrectomy with D2 or D3 lymphadenectomy is still considered as the only treatment offering hope of a cure for gastric cancer. However, the incidence of nodal involvement in gastric cancer is significantly different according to the depth of tumor invasion (T1-T4) [4-7]. Uniform application of this highly invasive procedure would increase morbidity and reduce the quality of life after surgery, especially for those with early stage cancers. Filling Holes in Triangular Meshes in Engineering

Abstract: In this paper, a novel hole-filling algorithm for triangular meshes is proposed. Firstly, the hole is triangulated into a set of new triangles using modified principle of minimum angle. Then the initial patching mesh is refined according to the density of vertices on boundary edges. Finally, the patching mesh is optimized via the bilateral filter to recover missed features. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm fills complex holes robustly, and preserves geometric features to a certain extent as well. The resulted meshes are of good quality for engineering.
Lower Limb Wearable Capacitive Sensing and Its Applications to Recognizing Human Gaits

Abstract: In this paper, we present an approach to sense human body capacitance and apply it to recognize lower limb locomotion modes. The proposed wearable sensing system includes sensing bands, a signal processing circuit and a gait event detection module. Experiments on long-term working stability, adaptability to disturbance and locomotion mode recognition are carried out to validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. Twelve able-bodied subjects are recruited, and eleven normal gait modes are investigated. With an event-dependent linear discriminant analysis classifier and feature selection procedure, four time-domain features are used for pattern recognition and satisfactory recognition accuracies (97:3% ± 0:5%, 97:0% ± 0:4%, 95:6% ± 0:9% and 97:0% ± 0:4% for four phases of one gait cycle respectively) are obtained. The accuracies are comparable with that from electromyography-based systems and inertial-based systems. The results validate the effectiveness of the proposed lower limb capacitive sensing approach in recognizing human normal gaits.
Squeeze-and-Breathe Evolutionary Monte Carlo Optimisation with Local Search Acceleration and its application to parameter fitting

Abstract: Motivation: Estimating parameters from data is a key stage of the modelling process, particularly in biological systems where many parameters need to be estimated from sparse and noisy data sets. Over the years, a variety of heuristics have been proposed to solve this complex optimisation problem, with good results in some cases yet with limitations in the biological setting. Results: In this work, we develop an algorithm for model parameter fitting that combines ideas from evolutionary algorithms, sequential Monte Carlo and direct search optimisation. Our method performs well even when the order of magnitude and/or the range of the parameters is unknown. The method refines iteratively a sequence of parameter distributions through local optimisation combined with partial resampling from a historical prior defined over the support of all previous iterations. We exemplify our method with biological models using both simulated and real experimental data and estimate the parameters efficiently even in the absence of a priori knowledge about the parameters.
