On the anomalous dimensions of the multiple pomeron exchanges
Xiao, Bo-Wen
High Energy Physics - Phenomenology , 2007, DOI: 10.1016/j.nuclphysa.2007.10.013
Abstract: High energy hard scattering in large $N_{c}$ limit can be described by the QCD dipole model. In this paper, single, double and triple BFKL pomeron exchange amplitudes are computed explicitly within the dipole model. Based on the calculation, the general formula $\gamma^{(k)*}_{0}=\chi^{-1}(k\chi({1/2}))$ which governs the anomalous dimension of $1\Rightarrow k$ amplitude is conjectured. As far as the unitarity problem is concerned, we find that the anomalous dimension $\gamma$ varies from graph to graph due to the DGLAP evolution. In the end, a comparison between this computation and reggeon field theory is provided.
Comparison of Cross Dressing in The Twelfth Night and Yi Zhong Yuan
Bo-wen LIU
Cross-Cultural Communication , 2009, DOI: 10.3968/776
Abstract: The device of cross dressing is adopted both by Renaissance writer Shakespeare and Chinese writer Li Yu in late Ming and Early Qing dynasty. This paper makes a comparison between Shakespeare’s work The Twelfth Night and Li Yu’s Yi Zhong Yuan (The Desired Ideal Matches), in which the female protagonists are dressed in men’s cloth. The two female protagonists transgress into men’s world by cross dressing, showing the ambiguity of gender identity and challenging the dominant system by men. However, they owed different attitudes towards cross dressing and different level of masculinity. Traced back into the concept of gender in two cultures, we may find an answer to this difference.

Abstract: This paper uses presupposition theories from semantic, pragmatic and cognitive perspectives to analyze the humor language in traditional Chinese art—xiangsheng (相声), comic dialogue. After a qualitative analysis of three episodes from Da Bao Biao (大保镖), Big Guard, a representative of xiangsheng, the trace of humor in the comic dialogue is detected. I hope this paper can give some hints on how to use presupposition to analyze humor.
Wen-Bo Li
Acta Crystallographica Section E , 2011, DOI: 10.1107/s1600536811032168
Abstract: In the title compound, [Cu(C8H4O4)(C12H11N5)2(H2O)]n, the CuII ion is five-coordinated by two carboxylate O atoms from two symmetry-related benzene-1,4-dicarboxylate ligands, two N atoms from two symmetry-related N6-benzyladenine ligands and one water O atom in a square-pyramidal environment. The CuII and water O atoms lie on a twofold rotation axis, and the benzene-1,4-dicarboxylate ligand lies on an inversion center. The water O atom occupies the apical position and the basal plane is occupied by two O atoms and two N atoms. Each benzene-1,4-dicarboxylate anion acts as a bis-monodentate ligand that binds two CuII cations, forming an infinite chain extending parallel to [001]. The N6-benzyladenine ligands are attached on both sides of the chain. Neighboring chains are further interconnected into the resulting three-dimensional supramolecular architecture via O—H...O, N—H...O and N—H...N hydrogen bonds.
A skeletochronological estimate of age in a population of the Siberian Wood Frog, Rana amurensis, from northeastern China
Wen Bo Liao
Acta Herpetologica , 2011,
Abstract: I used skeletochronology to estimate age structure of the Siberian Wood Frog, Rana amurensis, from northeastern China. Average age did not differ significantly between males and females. Age at sexual maturity in both males and females was 1 year. For both sexes the maximum age observed was 4 years. Average body size differed significantly between the sexes, with males being larger than females. A significantly and positively correlation between body size and age was found within each sex in the population. When the effect of age was controlled, males also had larger size than females, suggesting that sexual selection for larger males might improve male mating success.
Site fidelity in the Sichuan Torrent Frog (Amolops mantzorum) in a montane region in western China
Wen Bo Liao
Acta Herpetologica , 2011,
Abstract: I used mark-recapture technique to estimate site fidelity in a subtropical high-elevation torrent frog (Amolops mantzorum) during the breeding season in Fengtongzhai National Nature Reserve in western China. I captured, measured, and individually marked 30 males and 15 females in 20 May 2007. I recorded each individual’s initial positions using a Global Positioning System (GPS). For each night from 21 May to 10 June 2007, I recaptured the marked individuals and recorded capture points. The results showed that 16 males and 4 females were never recaptured in the field experiment. Most of the remaining individuals were recaptured only one time. Males and female were recaptured more than 2 and 8 times, respectively. Males and females were recaptured from subsequent positions as far apart as 55 m and 30 m, as close as 0.2 m and 0.1 m. Average neighbor distances on successive capture positions of males recaptured was 10.1 m, and that of females was 4.2 m, suggesting that there were significant difference in site fidelity between females and males. However, there was not significant average activity distance between the sexes. For females, small average activity areas were 10.9 ± 14.9 m2.
Solving Optimal Pricing Model for Perishable Commodities with Imperialist Competitive Algorithm
Bo-Wen Liu
Research Journal of Applied Sciences, Engineering and Technology , 2013,
Abstract: The pricing problem for perishable commodities is important in manufacturing enterprise. In this study, a new model based on the profit maximization principle and a discrete demand function which is a negative binomial demand distribution is proposed. This model is used to find out the best combination for price and discount price. The computational results show that the optimal discount price equals the cost of the product. Because the demand functions which involves several different distributions is so complex that the model is hard to solve with normal numerical method. Thus we combine the model with exterior penalty function and applied a novel evolution algorithm-Imperialist Competitive Algorithm (ICA) to solve the problem. Particle Swarm algorithm (PSO) is also applied to solve the problem for comparison. The result shows that ICA has higher convergence rate and execution speed.
On the Numerical Approach Solution to the Problem of Boundary Layer of Singular Perturbation for the Differential Equation
YU Wen-bo
Journal of Chongqing Normal University , 2009,
Abstract: Through discussing the singuiar perturbed problem of parabolic type and first-order hyperbolic type in partial differential equations, this paper puts forward a boundary layer format without losing its characteristics. Furthermore, initial and boundary values problems of parabolic-type singular perturbation on Ω1 and Ω2 are researched. In the use of asymptotic method, difference method and two-point boundary value problem methods in ordinary differential equation, we have gained a numerical solution to boundary layer in partial differential equation. Moreover, on the premise of step size middling and h, t and εeach approaching to zero, when free functions and initial, boundary values condition functions are smooth functions given, we obtain a uniformly numerical approach solution to the singular perturbed problem of one partial different equation with a small parameter ε(O<ε《1). Finally, we apply the conclusions to practice.
Statins for the Prevention of Stroke: A Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials
Wen Wang, Bo Zhang
PLOS ONE , 2014, DOI: 10.1371/journal.pone.0092388
Abstract: Background Stroke is a frequently encountered clinical event that has a detrimental impact on the quality of life. Evidence has increasingly shown that statins can substantially reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. However, it remains to be determined whether statins are definitively effective in preventing stroke. Methods We systematically searched the PubMed, Embase, and Central databases for studies that compared the effects of statins and placebo in patients at high risk for stroke. The outcome measures were overall incidence of stroke, incidence of fatal stroke, and incidence of hemorrhagic stroke. Results Eighteen randomized controlled trials satisfied all the inclusion criteria for the meta-analysis. The analysis revealed that statins reduced the overall incidence of stroke than placebo (odds ratio [OR]: 0.80; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.74–0.87; P<0.00001). In particular, statins showed efficacy in reducing the incidence of fatal stroke (OR: 0.90; 95% CI: 0.67–1.21; P = 0.47) and hemorrhagic stroke (OR: 0.87; 95% CI: 0.60–1.25; P = 0.45). On the contrary, they were found to increase the overall incidence of stroke (OR: 1.12; 95% CI: 0.89–1.41; P = 0.32) and fatal stroke (OR: 1.37; 95% CI: 0.93–2.03; P = 0.11) in renal transplant recipients and patients undergoing regular hemodialysis. Conclusion The results of this analysis suggest that statins may be beneficial in reducing the overall incidence of stroke and they may decrease the risk of fatal stroke and hemorrhagic stroke. However, statins should be used with caution in patients with a history of renal transplantation, regular hemodialysis, transient ischemic attack, or stroke. Further analyses should focus on multicentre, double-blind, placebo-controlled randomized trials with data stratification according to the nature of primary diseases and dose–effect relationship, to clarify the benefits of statins in protection against stroke.
