Discussion on Organization of Courses Content for Radar Engineering Teaching  [PDF]

Abstract: This paper analyses the current situation of radar engineering teaching, through which it finds that each course is not so independent that students may be left confused. So we rearrange the content based on two goals, “how to detect targets” and “how to design system”. The new courses are easier to learn, and can effectively arouse students’ interests in study.

Abstract: MicroRNAs play important roles in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression by inhibiting protein translation and/or promoting mRNA degradation. Importantly, biogenesis of microRNAs displays specific temporal and spatial profiles in distinct cell and tissue types and hence affects a broad spectrum of biological functions in normal cell growth and tumor development. Recent discoveries have revealed sophisticated mechanisms that control microRNA production and homeostasis in response to developmental and extracellular signals. Moreover, a link between dysregulation of microRNAs and human brain disorders has become increasingly evident. In this review, we focus on recent advances in understanding the regulation of microRNA biogenesis and function in neuronal and glial development in the mammalian brain, and dysregulation of the microRNA pathway in neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative diseases.

Abstract: With the development of science and technology, more and more cities are confronted with the water pollution of various degrees. The article is devoted to the introduction of a secondary sewage monitoring and management system which can automatically check the content of different components in the sewage discharged by enterprises and supply data reports with the help of probes, SBCs, PCs, etc. The article includes five parts. The first part introduces the research background, main research work and innovations of this system. The second part introduces the system architecture and system process. The third presents the fundamental working principles of SBCs and the relevant algorithms of PCs. The fourth expounds the problems and deficiencies which may exist in the algorithms. And the last part consists of summary and prospect, providing the possible solution to the deficiencies and looking forward to the future direction of research.
Extending Qualitative Probabilistic Network with Mutual Information Weights  [PDF]

Abstract: Bayesian network (BN) is a well-accepted framework for representing and inferring uncertain knowledge. As the qualitative abstraction of BN, qualitative probabilistic network (QPN) is introduced for probabilistic inferences in a qualitative way. With much higher efficiency of inferences, QPNs are more suitable for real-time applications than BNs. However, the high abstraction level brings some inference conflicts and tends to pose a major obstacle to their applications. In order to eliminate the inference conflicts of QPN, in this paper, we begin by extending the QPN by adding a mutual-information-based weight (MI weight) to each qualitative influence in the QPN. The extended QPN is called MI-QPN. After obtaining the MI weights from the corresponding BN, we discuss the symmetry, transitivity and composition properties of the qualitative influences. Then we extend the general inference algorithm to implement the conflict-free inferences of MI-QPN. The feasibility of our method is verified by the results of the experiment.

Abstract:
In this paper we investigate the power allocation optimization for spectrum efficient multi-pair two-way massive MIMO (TWMM) amplify-and-forward (AF) full-duplex (FD) relay over Ricean fading channels, where multiple user-pairs exchange information within pair through a AF-FD relay with very large number of antennas, while each user equipped with a single antenna. First, the zeroforcing reception/zeroforcing transmission and maximum-ratio combining/maximum ratio transmission processing matrices with imperfect channel state information at the relay are presented. Then, the unified asymptotic signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) expression of the system at general power scaling schemes are investigates. Finally, the joint user-relay power allocation (JURPA) scheme is proposed to improve the spectral efficiency of TWMM-AF-FD relay system. Simulation results show that the proposed JURPA scheme outperforms traditional user-side only power allocation scheme.
Serum homocysteine concentrations of Chinese intellectuals and the influential factors concerned  [PDF]

Abstract: Objective: To observe the concentration of se-rum homocysteine in intellectuals and the re-lated influential factors. Methods: The concen-trations serum homocysteine and saliva cortisol were measured in 138 intellectuals from three cities, Tianjin, Guangzhou and Chengdu in China. All the subjects had senior titles of tech-nical post, aged 40-69 years. Results: The mean value of serum homocysteine concentration in intellectuals was 20.6±0.8μmol/L, higher than the reference value. With the increase of cortisol levels the homocysteine concentrations rise (P <0.05). The mean value of homocysteine con-centration was highest in 40-49 years old group. Men had higher homocysteine level than women in this investigation. According to the mean value of homocysteine concentration among different cities, Tianjin was highest, Chengdu medium, Guangzhou lowest. Conclusion: The serum homocysteine concentration of intellec-tuals is higher than the reference value. The stress level, gender and resident cities might contribute to the differences in serum homo-cysteine concentration in Chinese intellectuals.
Numerical Solutions of a Variable-Order Fractional Financial System

Abstract: The numerical solution of a variable-order fractional financial system is calculated by using the Adams-Bashforth-Moulton method. The derivative is defined in the Caputo variable-order fractional sense. Numerical examples show that the Adams-Bashforth-Moulton method can be applied to solve such variable-order fractional differential equations simply and effectively. The convergent order of the method is also estimated numerically. Moreover, the stable equilibrium point, quasiperiodic trajectory, and chaotic attractor are found in the variable-order fractional financial system with proper order functions.
Stability in and Correlation between Factors Influencing Genetic Quality of Seed Lots in Seed Orchard of Pinus tabuliformis Carr. over a 12-Year Span

Abstract: Coniferous seed orchards require a long period from initial seed harvest to stable seed production. Differential reproductive success and asynchrony are among the main factors for orchard crops year-to-year variation in terms of parental gametic contribution and ultimately the genetic gain. It is fundamental in both making predictions about the genetic composition of the seed crop and decisions about orchard roguing and improved seed orchard establishment. In this paper, a primary Chinese pine seed orchard with 49 clones is investigated for stability, variation and correlation analysis of factors which influence genetic quality of the seed lots from initial seed harvest to the stable seed production over a 12 years span. Results indicated that the reproductive synchrony index of pollen shedding has shown to be higher than that of the strobili receptivity, and both can be drastically influenced by the ambient climate factors. Reproductive synchrony index of the clones has certain relative stability and it could be used as an indication of the seed orchard status during maturity stage; clones in the studied orchard have shown extreme differences in terms of the gametic and genetic contribution to the seed crop at the orchard's early production phase specifically when they severe as either female or male parents. Those differences are closely related to clonal sex tendency at the time of orchard's initial reproduction. Clonal gamete contribution as male and female parent often has a negative correlation. Clone utilization as pollen, seed or both pollen and seed donors should consider the role it would play in the seed crop; due to numerous factors influencing on the mating system in seed orchards, clonal genetic contribution as male parent is uncertain, and it has major influence on the genetic composition in the seed orchard during the initial reproductive and seed production phase.
Toxicogenomic investigation of Tetrahymena thermophila exposed to dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT), tributyltin (TBT), and 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD)

Abstract: Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT), tributyltin (TBT), and 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) are persistent in the environment and cause continuous toxic effects in humans and aquatic life. Tetrahymena thermophila has the potential for use as a model for research regarding toxicants. In this study, this organism was used to analyze a genome-wide microarray generated from cells exposed to DDT, TBT and TCDD. To accomplish this, genes differentially expressed when treated with each toxicant were identified, after which their functions were categorized using GO enrichment analysis. The results suggested that the responses of T. thermophila were similar to those of multicellular organisms. Additionally, the context likelihood of relatedness method (CLR) was applied to construct a TCDD-relevant network. The T-shaped network obtained could be functionally divided into two subnetworks. The general functions of both subnetworks were related to the epigenetic mechanism of TCDD. Based on analysis of the networks, a model of the TCDD effect on T. thermophila was inferred. Thus, Tetrahymena has the potential to be a good unicellular eukaryotic model for toxic mechanism research at the genome level.
Analyses of crystal field and exchange interaction of Dy3Ga5O12 under extreme conditions

Abstract: This paper theoretically investigates the effects of crystal field and exchange interaction field on magnetic properties in dysprosium gallium garnet under extreme conditions (low temperatures and high magnetic fields) based on quantum theory. Here, five sets of crystal field parameters are discussed and compared. It demonstrates that, only considering the crystal field effect, the experiments can not be successfully explained. Thus, referring to the molecular field theory, an effective exchange field associated with the Dy--Dy exchange interaction is further taken into account. Under special consideration of crystal field and the exchange interaction field, it obtains an excellent agreement between the theoretical results and experiments, and further confirms that the exchange interaction field between rare-earth ions has great importance to magnetic properties in paramagnetic rare-earth gallium garnets.
