A TAXONOMIC REVISION OF THE LICHEN GENUS XANTHOPARMELIA (VAIN.) HALE FROM CHINA

Abstract: The lichen species of Xanthaparmelia from China have been confused in the literature. In the present paper a taxonomic revision of this genus is made on the basis of Chinese materials preserved in HMAS, S, UPS, H, and TUR. Six species, including a new status X. dentata (Zhao) Wei, a new variety X. tinctina var. xizangensis Wei, and a species X. incurva (Pers.) Hale new to China, are reportel. The results of morphological and chemical reexamination of Chinese materials, and the type specimens of some species of this group show that Parmelia conspersa Ach. from China in the literature should belong to X. tinctina (Mah. et Gillet) Hale and X. mexicana (Gyeln.) Hale, and P. subramigera Gyeln. to X. mexicana as well. Both P. stenophylla (Ach.) Heug. and P. subconspersa Nyl. from China belong to X. taractica (Kremph.) Hale. Moreover, some Chinese specimens of X. tinctina and X. taractica contain a trace of norstictic acid in addition to usnic and salazinic acids. P. camtschadalis (Ach.) Eschw. has been mistaken for P. vagans (Nyl.) Nyl. by most authors. Actually, P. camtschadalis (=X. camtschadalis) is quite different from P. vagans (=X. vagans) in morphological and chemical characters and geographical distributions as well. The former is always marked with yellowish or white lines and spots on the upper surface of lobes, and contains salazinic acid besides usnic acid. The type specimen (H-Ach. no. 1450, in H) was collected from Kamchatka in Asia. But the latter lacks yellowish or white lines and spots on the upper surface of lobes, and contains stictic and norstictic acids in addition to usnic acid. The type specimen (H-Nyl. no. 1730, in H) was collected from Ecuador in South America. The rest of this group from China in the literature remain to be revised in future.
SOME NEW SPECIES AND MATERIALS OF LICHEN GENUS LASALLIA FROM CHINA

Abstract: In this paper are reported 4 new taxa of Lasallia from China, of which 3 are new species: Lasallia daliensis Wei, L. sinorientalis Wei, and L. Caeonshanensis Wei and 1 as new variety: L. asiae-orientalis var. fanjingensis Wei. G. K. Merrill used the herbarium name "Umbilicaria fokiensis" for a specimen (no.3938, FH) collected by Dunn from Fujian prov. of China in 1905. Many years later,when G. A. Liano (1950) published his monograph, he cited "U. fokiensis" (nom. inval)as a part of the species Lasallia pustulata (L) Merat. Lu Ding-an (1959) also identified the specimen collected from Mt. Huang-shan, Anhui prov., China as L. pustulata. However, after a comparison of the above mentioned specimens with specimens from Mts.Huang-shan (Anhui prov.), Tian-mu-shan (Zhejiang prov.), Lu-shan (Jiangxi prov.),and Guangtou-shan (Shanxi prov.), the present author has came to the conclusion that,although they all belong to the same species, but are not conspecifie with L. pustulata by having sparse and weak pustules and smaller thalli, etc. Hence, the Chinese materials are described by the author as a new species: Lasallia sinorientalis sp. nov., while L. pustulata is believed to be an entirely different species hitherto not found in China.It seems to the author that the new species may be a vicarious species of L. pustulata. The apothecia of L. asiae-orientalis Asahina, which had been overlooked by Asahina are now found and described for the first time by the author from the type specimen.

Abstract: The present paper deals with the following three points: 1. A brief history of starting publication of the mycological journal in China. The first issue of the Acta Mycologica Sinica in Chinese was published in 1982. The first issue of the Mycosystema in English was published in 1988, which as one of the 25 periodicals in mycology of the world was listed by the Dictionary of the Fungi (8th Edition). In this case, the Acta Mycologica Sinica was merged into the Mycosystema in 1997. And the volume ordinal numbers of the Acta Mycologica Sinica was continued to use for that of the merged Mycosystema. 2. The three storage and retrieval systems of bioinformatics (publications), culture collections and herbaria of pan-fungal specimens as prototype references of the pan-fungal taxonomy are the most important support system to biological resources. 3. The Mycosystema as one of the three storage and retrieval systems played the leading role in the academic exchange of the mycology at home and abroad. The author hopes to see the Mycosystema will play more important role in the academic exchange of the mycology.
New materials for lichen flora from Xizang

Abstract: In the present paper, ten lichen species from Xizang are reported. Three of them are new species and three new infraspecific taxa. One species and one variety are made as new combinations. The apothecium of Lethariella cashmeriana Krog is descri- bed for the first time. This paper also deals with nomenclatural problems of certain species. The authors found that the specific epithets of Gyrophora hypococcina Jatta (A. Zahlbruckner, 1927, 1934) and G. hypocrocina Jatta (A. Zahlbruckner, 1930) were either orthographic or typographic errors for G. hypococcinea Jatta (1902) (original spelling). According to the Article 73:1 of the International Co de of Botanical Nomenclature Leningrad Code (1978)],. the epithet (hypococcinea) must be retained and the name Umbilicaria hypococcinea (Jatta) Llano must, therefore be used substituting for U. hypococcina (Jatta) Llano (1950; Lu, 1959). The authors wish to express their sincere appreciation to Prof. T Ahti and Dr.O. Vitikainen (H) and Dr. Roland Moberg (UPS) for the loan of type specimens.

Abstract: 本文描述了袋衣属一新种:云南袋衣。其主要特征为裂片长,末端及边缘常具大量小裂片。裂片上表面无光泽,具丘疹;下表面呈明显的网状褶皱,中央呈睹玫瑰色至暗褐色,近末端呈淡玫瑰色至淡褐色,具稀疏而较大的孔洞。

Abstract: The comparative studies ofRhizoplacafumida and Rh. chrysoleuca based on morphological, chemical and genetic data showed that the different upper surface colour ofthallus and containing or lacking usnic acid in the thalli can not be regarded as the evidencefor specific demarcation. These characters do not support Rh. fumida as a separate species, which can be treated as one of the chemotypes within Rh. chrysoleuca.

Abstract: 以真菌界、动物界和植物界中的19种各类生物作为代表,从具有进化速率不同区段结构的核糖体核酸基因大亚基全序列的C3、C9及C11三个高度保守区段中鉴定出了4条真菌所共有的核苷酸序列,亦即真菌界所特有的核苷酸序列。从其保守区段C5中鉴定出了1条子囊菌门所特有的保守序列;从保守区段C7中鉴定出了1条担子菌门所特有的保守序列。研究结果为各类真菌起源于一个共同祖先提供了分子证据。用于研究的美味石耳的核糖体核酸基因大亚基全序列是由本实验室所提供;其他18种核糖体核酸基因大亚基全序列来自GenBank。

Abstract: In order to isolate the drought-resistant gene from the mycobiont of desert lichens, the desiccation-tolerance biological research and liquid culture were performed. The mycobiont isolated from the desert lichen Glypholecia scabra, was studied under the water stress. The results showed that the mycobiont isolated from G. scabra would accumulate soluble sugars and increase the concentration of total phenols and reduce glutathione (GSH) to protect itself from low water activities. It could be inferred that the genes relating to the metabolic pathways of phenols and GSH, may likely to be the candidates of drought-tolerance genes for cloning and expression analysis at a_w=0.90 and a_w=0.85. Additionally, in order to provide enough materials for cloning and expression analysis, optimal liquid culture conditions of the mycobiont isolated from G scabra were studied using Plackett-Burman design and orthogonal arrays. The optimized medium (pH6.3) consisted of 15g glucose, 2g soy peptone, and 200μg Vitamin B_12in 1L potato extract. 150mL medium filled in 250mL triangular flask was shaken under revolving speed of 100r/min, at 18℃. The growth curve showed that the biomass of the mycobiont isolated from G scabra was improved significantly under the optimized conditions.
